Sunny Side Tales

Okami_Ninetails_Realism_by_IX_Demyx_IX.jpg

Ninetails @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP/120 DEF/136 Spe/
Nature:Timid
~ Flamethrower
~ Will-O-Wisp
~ Sunny Day
~ Solar Beam

Ninetails is my lead. Her purpose is to set up the drought and burn anything in the way with Will-O-Wisp. I feel she is greatly underestimated. She has Solar Beam to counter any ground, rock, or water types that would normally wreck her. Even though she has the drought ability, I gave her Sunny Day just in case there is a Tyranitar or other weather teams.

Moltres @ Heat Rock
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk/ 4Def/ 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
~ Sunny Day
~ Flamethrower
~ Solar Beam
~ Morning Sun

Moltres is my back up for Sunny Day. She is supposed to keep up the sun. She would normally get checked by rock, ground, and water types but with the sun up and Solar Beam she does just fine. Morning Sun is there to get her the much needed health boost. I am wondering if I need to use U-turn on Moltres.

Arcanine.600.895961.jpg

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs:72 HP/ 252 ATK/ 8 SDef/ 176 Spe
Nature: Adamant
~ Flare Blitz
~ Extreme Speed
~ Wild Charge
~ Morning Sun

Arcanine is my Speed physical Sweeper. Flare Blitz is Arcanine's sun abuse. Extreme Speed is there just in case. Wild Charge is for Water types. Morning Sun is my source of replenishing health. Arcanine may be fast but has trouble with rock and ground types.

Victini @ Life Orb
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 4 Atk/ 252 SAtk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Naive
~ V-Create
~ Psychic
~ Grass Knot
~ Focus Blast

Victini's V-Create is RIDICULOUS with the sun. Especially Life Orbed. Grass Knot is for those heavy Tyranitar, Rhyperior, etc. Victini does very well on this team.

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Trait:Chlorophyll
EVs: 72 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SAtk/ 180 Spe
Nature:Timid
~ Sunny Day
~ Giga Drain
~ Hidden Power (Fire)
~ Sludge Bomb

Venusaur is my safety net against ground, rock, and waters. He can do some serious damage with hidden power in the sun. The Giga Drain is mostly for dealing decent damage while replenishing some extra health on the side. Sludge Bomb is a filler move. It does respectable damage and has a chance to poison.

Salamence @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 S.Atk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Naive
~ Dragon Dance
~ Outrage
~ Earthquake
~ Hydro Pump

Salamence is my sweeper. He sweeps in the rain, fire, sandstorm. It doesn't matter what weather is up, except Hail, he sweeps. Moxie Salamence with Dragon Dance, Moxie, Outrage, and a Lum Berry make him capable of sweeping entire teams. I've debated on swapping Hydro Pump for Fire Blast but then I realized that I don't really have a way to get rid of opposing fire types. I do have to run the risk of running out of PP on Hydro Pump or missing.

*** Any help on the team are much appreciated. This is my second RMT but hopefully the first to receive feedback.***

One fatal flaw that I see in your team right off the bat is that... EVERY pokemon except Venusaur takes HEAVY SR damage. Sun Teams involve tons of switching so I recommend getting a rapid spinner/hazard setter like Forretress to replace Moltres. In a similar vein, 4 of your pokemon are of the Fire-type and that absolutely kills your chance of victory. You don't need to have all Fire and Grass pokemon on your team in order to be an amazing Sun Team. You need type variety on any team so that you can have as many checks/counters to other types as possible. Also, I see that you run a dedicated Sunny Day pokemon (as well as carrying it on Venusaur) in case Ninetales goes down. I wouldn't recommend doing that because you have just wasted 1 moveslot on Venusaur and a complete space of your team by carrying Moltres. I suggest you scratch Sunny Day on Venusaur and in place of it add Sleep Powder or Growth. With the new sleep mechanics, sleep is extremely dangerous while Growth allows you to boost your Sp.A by 2 levels in sun. Both moves are too good to pass up on. I also recommend that you give Venusaur Life Orb over black sludge. It will give Venusaur a boost in power that is very much needed. I will just post the set that you should try out

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA/ 4 Spd/ 252 Spe
Ability: Cholorophyll
Moves:
-Sleep Powder/Growth
-Giga Drain
-Hidden Power Fire
-Sludge Bomb/Growth

Sludge Bomb isn't absolutely needed on Venusaur and you can use a Sleep Powder+Growth Combo to boost your stats unharmed. You can still Sludge Bomb, but I highly recommend you testing this set.

It doesn't make sense to run Hydro Pump on Salamence because in Sun it's power is cut in half. I would replace Hydro Pump with Fire Blast. You say that you have opposing fire types trying to ruin your fun. I introduce you to the Sun beast that is Heatran.

Heatran @ Air Baloon
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves:
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Solar Beam
-Hidden Power Ice

Heatran can absorb and get a boost from opposing Fire moves coming your way and can even counter fire types themselves with Earth Power. Air Balloon is extremely helpful in avoiding Earthquakes that run rampant in OU and opposing Heatran's Earth Powers. I recommend you replace Arcanine for this set. Heatran brings defensive strength and useful immunities and resistances without giving up offensive prowess.

Now you have the problem of having too many Special Attackers and not enough Physical Attackers. Special Walls like Chansey and Blissey can wall you for days. I recommend you try a Physical Victini.

Victini @Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 Hp/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Moves:
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break
- U-turn

This set is more deadly and more effective. The Choice Scarf makes Victini become a powerful revenge killer. Brick Break is used to be able to hit T-tar for unexpected SE damage. U-turn is for scouting/breaking focus sashes/psychics.

I cannot tell you everything because then it wouldn't be your team anymore. I gave you these amazing sets/pokemon that are good to build around. Play around with the team a little and learn the playstyle that is Sun. It will take a while to get used to it, but you will eventually adapt the team to how you like to play so that you can make your team different and unique. Hopefully I helped :)
