Sunny Ubers?!?!

Well, I made a very effective Sun Team on Smogon a while ago, but it was in OU. Wait.... that was DarkSuicune... right.. not me. ;) Anyways, I decided to try my hand at Uber battling, since I got a nice Jolly Ho-oh. So, here's the Uber sun team:
Btw, this is the first Uber team I've ever built. So, please tell me how the Uber metagame works.

Groudon @ Choice Band
6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly

Earthquake
Shadow Claw
Dragon Claw
Fire Punch

Polishes, then uses his high attack to outspeed and start an early game sweep. The Hippowdon of Sun teams.

Ho-oh @ Leftovers
6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly

Solarbeam
Sacred Fire
Punishment
Roost

Roost heals him off of his Stealth Rock Weakness, and Punishment hits the huge amount of psychics hard. Pokemon like Latias roll over and die from it. Sacred Fire + Sunny Day + STAB + 50% burn rate can be very scary.

488.png

Dailga @ Leftovers
252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD
Careful

Rest
Thunder Bolt
Brick Break
Sleep Talk

Mixalga with Wall-Dialga's EVs. Brick Break takes care of blissey. T-Bolt takes care of Kyogre.

249.png

Lugia @ Leftovers
252 HP / 52 Def / 204 Spe
Bold

Whirlwind
Ice Beam
Roost
Reflect

Walls Sweepers. Standard.

384.png

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
32 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 216 Spe
Adamant

Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Extremespeed
Outrage

Standard. Amazing sweeper, can maim almost anything. Outruns almost anything without a scarf after a DD.

387.png

Deoxys @ Life Orb
6 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Hasty

Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Superpower

One of my favorite pokemon, extremely versatile, very good indeed. Standard.

So what do you think? It's not very good, but I don't have much experience in Ubers anyways. So rate away!

Alright. This team has a big Groudon weak. Thunder on Darkrai is also a big no-no in the sun. T-bolt is better. And if you want a good a good attacker go for Deoxys-A over Electivire. Make Heatran Rash to give Explosion more power. Lugia or Giratina > Ho-oh.

Electivire and Cresselia aren't exactly good on your team. First off if you are leading with Groudon you are better off not setting up so try CB instead. Solarbeam isn't really good either since a Kyogre/TTar Switch in means a free turn. Try Earthquake instead.

Leftovers isn't really helpful on Darkrai without Substitute so use Life Orb and also Spacial Rend or Thunderbolt would be better since Thunder gets 50% accuracy in the sun.

Lugia over Cresselia since it has a better recovery, phazing, and does better against Groudon which you have problems with. The solution to your sun problem is just let Groudon live and that will be easier if its a CB set instead of sticking the 5 turn Sunny Day on something.

Heatran never really appealed in ubers to me since Kyogre can easily switch in and you really don't have anything to take a Surf. I would put in Blissey over it to take special hits. Electivire doesn't hit hard enough/isn't fast enough to beat anything in ubers. You could use Rayquaza or something over it instead.

Lol, Rayquaza's Air Lock sorta negates the point of a Sunny Day team, right? Other changes: Deoxy-A replaced Electrivire, Lugia Replaced Cresselia. I think I'll keep Ho-oh. I have a UT one, and It's also one of my favorite pokes.

Air Lock only negates the sun when Rayquaza itself is out but Deoxys is fine. Anyways a few more changes. Earthquake on Ho-oh since Solar Beam won't be doing much to anything with a -nature and no STAB or EVs. Use Stone Edge on Groudon over Shadow Claw since Stone Edge hits Lugia harder and Dragon Claw already gets Latis and Giratina. The rest of the psychics are frail enough to be beat by Earthquake.

I'm still worried about that Heatran. Scarf Kyogre does a number on your team so you really need Blissey. i was just going after Heatran since it looks like your weakest link, but if you want to keep it the only other good option I see is replace Darkrai or Deoxys.

Kyogre is a huge lead in ubers, and you really have nothing to switch into a waterspout. Kyogre leads, and kyogre in general kinda goes right through your team. Add a counter.

To counter Kyogre the Pink Whore could help. It can give Light Screen and SR support. It could fit in over Ho-Oh, but that defeats a lot of the purpose of the Sun.

EDIT: Giratina can also help with Kyogre problems.

Sprites at the top need fixing.

Bulky Mixalga seems to fit as a Kyogre counter better. Just give it a lot of HP and Sdef/def evs to take the hits.

Groudon should be better with Stone Edge > Dragon Claw.

Mixalga with Wall-Dialga's EVs. Brick Break takes care of blissey. T-Bolt takes care of Kyogre.

You don't see many Hippowdons starting early-game sweeps :toast:. Also misspelt Dialga. You might find max HP on Groudon more beneficial than max speed, due to it tying or being outsped by everything in Ubers except Dialga and Blissey.

Okay lets start fixing some stuff here.

First of all, Shadow Claw is practically useless on CB Groudon when you have Dragon Claw which cuts through Latios and Latias, while Earthquake takes down the rest of the Psychics besides Lugia, who laughs at Shadow Claw anyways. If you wish to use the CB set, stick Stone Edge over Shadow Claw. Also I do not approve of CB Jolly Don.

I'm actually going to suggest you use SR Don as you don't have someone with Stealth Rock, and SR is very deadly. Stealth Rock/EQ/Dragon Claw/[Roar/Toxic/Fire Punch] works. Fire Punch only if you really hate Scizor and Forretress.

Your Ho-oh I do not get. What is Solarbeam doing there in the first place? The only thing you'll be hitting with Solarbeam are opposing Groudons and Manaphy, and you greatly risk Kyogre switching in during Solarbeam (you'll be forced to charge the beam when he switches in during the turn you use it AND it will also cut its power by 2x). Kyogre will switch in against Ho-oh a lot, usually regardless of what set it has.

Your Dialga is no way a Mix Dialga. It's just sticking Thunderbolt and Brick Break in which does not include the dragon move which Mix Dialga comes successful with: Draco Meteor. Without any dragon moves here you're simply asking for weird stuff like Rayquaza or Palkia to set up on you. Even worse, Groudon comes in it way easier than before. Also, you do not have any attack EVs so therefore Blissey can technically run over it (Calm Mind versions, though rare, will beat it one on one). With Careful you're chopping down Thunderbolt's power and now Kyogre can set up on it. Your "Mix Dialga" set lacks a lot of power and will get walled with ease. Stick with Bulk Up. Bulk Up/[Dragon Claw/Outrage]/Rest/Sleep Talk works

Lugia will want at least 318 Speed to outrun Swords Dance Rayquaza, which is probably the most common thing in the uber metagame right now.

Just stick with max Atk/Spd for DDRay

What I see in your team is actually the lack of sunlight based Pokemon to actually make this a Sun based team, so you might as well completely scrap the idea of "Sunny Ubers". Kyogre would take Ho-oh's slot pretty well as it helps cover most of the stuff Ho-oh covers, such as Taunt/Calm Mind Mewtwo, at the same time does not have the glaring Stealth Rock problem. Kyogre will also help with your team's terrible Heatran weakness. Set is mostly up to you, really.

Your team might some more rearrangements as it now has a Latias weakness (well, not that it didn't have it before). If you decide to use Outrage on Dialga, you will temporarily cover it, but it's not so reliable when they switch out into something to take the rage and then proceed to devastate it. Putting Blissey over *gulp* Deoxys-A can help eliminate this problem as long as they don't have Refresh, and Refresh versions are pretty rare.

In the end you're left with
Groudon/Blissey/Rayquaza/Lugia/Dialga/Kyogre.

Should cover most things. There are a few problems with it (i.e lack of Speed), but honestly you can't expect to cover everything up in the uber metagame. Specs Kyogre can also pose a few problems so Latias can go over Dialga, although you're going to make yourself weaker to Darkrai, so choose wisely. The team this ended up with is only a general example of how to cover up most things in ubers based off your team-you can mess around and change a few team members if you wish.
