I drafted a new team. I wanted Tyranitar, Zapdos and Jirachi on it because I like them and think they're cute. I came up with this and right now it's topping out at a paltry 1340 CRE. Limited synergy is there but I have no central strategy, no plan of action. Before I started tearing it up to implement one I decided to put it to you coolguys first:

This has got to look pretty fucking stupid. It's a solid opener against some of the most common leads (as of Jan 2010), and if my opponent elects to switch, taunt or otherwise neglects to get stealth rocks down it can come in later and bait Scizor or something. If they do SR (or anything really, as long as his sash is intact) and led with Azelf or similar OHKO fodder he sometimes nets two KOs very early.

Top ten common lead matchups:

Azelf: Almost always uses SR, and is OHKOed
Metagross: If it SRs, it's 2HKOed; if not (eg MM) it's a loss
Swampert: Switch to Zapdos
Jirachi: Switch to Heatran
Aerodactyl: Sometimes taunts, then SRs even after Ice Beam, which is great and lets ttar try for 2; more often SRs first, which usually ends with ttar's sash activated
Infernape: Superpower OHKOes after CloseCombat, sometimes gets SRs off first
Roserade: If SP misses or it's a spiker predicting a switch then it's OHKOed. SP isn't a problem though if Roserade just wants toxic spikes, which I don't worry about too much. Another opener that can result in 2 KOs
Heatran: Superpower is a 2HKO
Tyranitar: Superpower OHKOes
Gliscor: OHKOed with Ice Beam, and if it taunts or SRs this is another potential twofer

Suicune is my answer to Gyara and Heatran and sometimes Swampert. I think this is fairly standard. Surprisingly durable despite offensive EVs

People assume Heatran is scarfed, which works out to my advantage. Explosion is a lifesaver against the likes of Blissey and on occasion Swampert. Hasty (versus Naive) and carrying Shuca for other Heatran. Like Suicune it's pretty standard

Zapdos has a ton of utility. He got HP Grass after the ninetieth Swampert switch-in and it's been working out great; he's also my only pHazer. Twave has proved essential in countless wins on its own merit. Has problems with SR, of course, and with his lack of Roost.

Jolteon was an quick improvisation to deal with Gengar/Rotom and Twave, and it has worked out great, much beyond my first expectations. Late game sweeping is possible if I manage its counters handily. Sacrificial Twaves on would-be sweepers have saved me countless times as well

My revenge-killer. Also handily abuses paralysis with Iron Head, netting me kills I don't fully deserve sometimes. Very simple premise here

I start of with a question: how the hell can Tyranitar be cute? ^^

Okay on to the rate.

Stealth Rock are very important as it can ensure certain KO's. So I really suggest you use them on your team. Since Tyranitar is first on your party he would make a fine candidate for it. But then his entire moveset need to chance as well. So if yoy don't want to do that you can always put Stealth Rock on Heatran, over Hidden Power (ice) that is.

--> Okay this is your basic lead Tyranitar with one little adaption: it has 4 SDef EV's placed in Spe so you could outspeed opposing leadtars. This works great as a lead and like I said before the need of Stealth Rock is rather great in OU since it limits the times that Gyarados and Salamence, two big threats, can switch in because the lose a quarter of their health every time they switch in. This Tyranitar can beat some of the most common leads eg. Azelf and Roserade are both OHKO'ed by Payback. It can even can come back later in the game against the likes of Latias and Rotom and because this version is bulkier, he can do this multiple times.
The moveset is pretty obvious. Stealth Rock is basic and greatly supports your team. Stone Edge is STAB'ed and helps you deal with Flying types. Payback works greatly on something as slow as Tyranitar because it receives boost (100 BP) when it goes last and it will be your main STAB move. The last move is up to you. Earthquake deals damage to the likes of Tyranitar, Jirachi and Metagross, while Superpower is a OHKO on opposing Tyranitar. Rest is the let you recover from any taken damage.

On to Heatran, Fire Blast is really the superiour option here but if you don't like the accuracy of that move you can always go with Overheat. Most of the time Heatran would just do a hit and run so the special attack drop isn't that bad. Also Shucka berry could find a replacement since your not using Heatran as a lead and against pokemon with Ground type moves he needs to switch out anyway. So I suggest you put Life Orb or Leftovers instead.

Both on Zapdos and on Jolteon are holding a Lum Berry and this doesn't benefit them at all. I suggest Leftovers on Zapdos as it neutralizes the sandstorm damage you receive every turn.On Zapdos you could also try Discharge as a replacement for both Thunderbolt and Thunderwave so you have one extra moveslot. Toxic is a good option here. Since your Zapdos is defensive, having Roost in his moveset also isn't a bad idea. Maybe you can place that instead of Hidden power (grass). It also has a strage EV spread so I suggest a spread of 248 HP, 36 Spe, 224 SDef so you can optimize it's defenses.

If you have problems with the likes of Rotom and Gengar I can suggest your own Rotom-a instead of Jolteon. This will give your team some needed resistances and a decent counter for Lucario and Scizor.

--> Rotom-h can outspeed Lucario with these EV's a burn him to cripple him for the rest of the match. Will-o-wisp can also burn Tyranitar so you are not just some Pursuit bait. Substitute always comes in handy when you up against some faster pokemon. Shadow Ball hits the majority of special attackers who don't care if they are burned or not. And Thunderbolt let's you kill of Gyarados, another pokemon who could be troublesome. If you want you could also go for Charge Beam in the last slot, but keep in mind it will not OHKO Gyarados.

You could try Thunderpunch or Trick or U-turn on Jirachi instead of Body Slam as the paralysis does't really benefit you.

Hello! First let me just say that I am a huge fan of Tyranitar leads. I do think, however, that Tyranitar leads are better off being strictly physical. Your team also needs to have Stealth Rock on it somewhere. Without Stealth Rock, Pokemon like Gyarados and Zapdos can switch in all day, and cause some problems for your team. Tyranitar fortunately can learn Stealth Rock...anyway, I think you would be overall better off using a set of Stone Edge | Payback | Stealth Rock | Earthquake, an EV spread of 252 HP | 252 Atk | 4 Spe, and an Adamant nature with the item Leftovers. I think that this set has better anti-lead capabilities and will be a better all-around fit for your team, so I suggest you try it out.

There are a lot of minor changes to be made on your team. On Heatran, I think that you're going to be better off running Fire Blast over Flamethrower, as the power difference can actually be game-breaking. You should also use a Naive nature as opposed to a Hasty one, as the OU metagame is currently more physically-focused than specially-focused. I don't see the point of running Lum Berry on something as frail as Jolteon, so I think you could give Life Orb a go. Also, Thunder Wave is a rather odd choice on Jolteon, as it will basically be outspeeding everything barring Choice Scarfers; try Charge Beam in that slot instead. Hidden Power Ground I also feel is a bit redundant on Jolteon, as Heatran and Tyranitar can already take on opposing Heatran well, and that's really the only thing I could ever see you using Hidden Power Ground on. Try Hidden Power Ice instead, as it will OHKO Salamence preventing it from setting up, which is nice because DDMence can do quite a number on your team. On Jirachi, you should probably go for U-turn over Body Slam. Your team seems to be heavily focused around paralysis, which I find rather odd as the majority of your Pokemon are quite quick. Body Slam isn't really needed on Choice Scarf Jirachi, and U-turn can help with scouting purposes. You should also use a Jolly nature and max Speed EVs to at least tie with opposing +1 Dragon Dance Salamence. Zapdos also definitely needs Roost in order to survive. Otherwise, it basically can't switch in on anything, especially when you consider that it will be taking damage not only from Stealth Rock but from the opponents attacks instead. I would say stick Roost over Thunder Wave, as it doesn't seem to necessary to me on Zapdos.

Cool team, just want to point out a few things. Snorlax pretty much hit the main points so I'll try to back up some points. Starting off with Tyranitar I suggest changing the nature to Hasty to outspeed important threats like Scizor, Magnezone, standard Rotom, Breloom, and others. I also suggest changing your item to Shuca Berry since tar can already take some hits and this will help you surprise kill common pokemon like Gliscor, Flygon, and Salamence.

Moving to Heatran I suggest taking HP Ice out for SR support since the gradual damage is necessay and can cost you wins. Jolteon's set is redundant together with Zapdos, so I suggest taking it out or giving it a different purpose like LO, BP, or specs. Finally, take body slam out on Jirachi and put in trick since you're going to have a hard time with Blissey with so many special attackers. Hope this helps and good luck!
 
Lol I think I remember, I forgot to tell you to change roar on Zapdos for roost since SR plus SS and no recovery is suicide. Roar isn't that necessay since your team covers most threats nicely as a result of so many different typing moves backed up by STAB.
