ORAS OU Super Manectric 3 Balance

Hey guys! This is my first RMT here for a long while, so please excuse me if there are any formatting errors. My friend and I made a team around a mega manectric/tornadus-t/manaphy core. Tell me what you think and if there are any improvements to be made.

Even further beyond (Manectric) @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flamethrower

The mega of the team, aptly referencing Goku's transformation to SSJ3. This beast can destroy offensive teams once it's checks are weakened. It also provides a fast revenge killer and a volt-turn core with Tornadus. Standard move set because it works best for the team in my opinion.

Icarus (Tornadus-Therian) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 132 HP / 160 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Focus Blast

Tornadus-T is this team's balance killer, being able to weaken bulky cores like Venu-Tran, knock off items and provide momentum with U-turn. It's also a nice specially defensive pivot to have, and it helps back up Skarm, who cannot take some special hits. It's pretty much the standard assault vest set.

Puar (Manaphy) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 92 HP / 252 SpA / 164 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Tail Glow
- Energy Ball

Manaphy destroys fat balance and stall, hence why it is now S rank. It pairs well with torn and Manectric since it reliably beats a lot of things that check Mega Manectric like Hippowdon, Clefable, Heatran etc while also providing a nice versatile win con. The set is pretty standard; I wasn't sure of what coverage to put on Manaphy so i decided to put Ice Beam for grass and dragon type switch ins, and energy ball to beat bulky water types like Slowbro, Suicune and Slowking. The Lum berry allows it to get 1 tail glow vs walls who can only use status against Manaphy, allowing it to sweep or clean.

Master Shen (Skarmory) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Taunt
- Iron Head

Now we start getting into the actual team built around the core. We decided on Sp.def Skarmory to take on sand teams, reliably beat common fairies like Clefable and Mega Diancie, and as an answer to mega Metagross. Like all the sets on my team this set is standard, with the exception of taunt which i opted over spikes to stop Mega Zard X and Mega Altaria from setting up in Skarms face. It also serves as a nice anti-lead who can stop things from setting up rocks. Taunt also allows it to cripple opposing walls, making my match-up vs stall that one bit better.

Perfect Cell (Latios) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Trick

We needed a way to reliably revenge kill a lot of fast threats; like scarf Hoopa-U, Lando-T, +1 Zard X, Raikou, opposing Mega Manectric etc. So we opted for scarf Latios. Earthquake bops T-tar, Bisharp and Heatran switch ins. Trick cripples walls and many switch ins to Lati like Clefable, Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Fat Gotenks (Hippowdon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 168 Def / 84 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Slack Off

The final member of the team provides a much needed check to Mega Charizard X, opposing Mega Manectric, Raikou, Mega Lopunny, Talonflame and Mega Aerodactyl as well as a way to set up rocks. 84 SpDef allows it to eat up hits from non-specs raikou and mega manectric and also allows it to avoid the 2HKO from choice scarf hoopa's dark pulse and has a low chance to get OHKO'd by it's grass knot while allowing hippo to have maximum physical bulk.

I hope you enjoyed reading, and hopefully I can get this team to it's full potential.

Hi AstroGecko,

nice balanced team! Ferrothorn is too annoying though (okay you have Manectric, but it's easy to play around that), so I'd replace Focus Blast with Heat Wave on Tornadus, as you can just use Knock Off or U-Turn against Heatran and Tyranitar, and you have Manaphy and Hippowdon which can deal with them; Heat Wave helps deal with Skarmory as well! Then, I know that it might be redundant, but I'd recommend you to carry Hidden Power Fire over Ice Beam on Manaphy as well. You have a revenge-killer and two solid switch-ins for latwins and dragon-types, and fwg coverage on Manaphy is undoubtedly the best on this meta. If you feel that Venusaur is more annoying for your team than Ferrothorn, you can just give Manaphy Psychic over Ice Beam, even though I can assure you that a few people play Venusaur in ladder, so you shouldn't have so many problems. Then, I'd opt for more special defense on Hippo which should allow it to resist draco meteor and Psyshock from Latwins, while not losing too much physical bulk. The team is already solid, but these changes can help you improve it.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Slack Off

Ah, run also max speed on Tornadus-Therian, as being outsped by Alakazam and ALWAYS losing the tie vs the opposing Tornadus-Therian is pretty annoying.

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 96 HP / 160 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- U-turn
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave
- Knock Off

Hope I helped! Good luck with your team :)
