I'm not the most experienced OU player and this is my first post but hopefully you guys like the team and maybe can offer me some improvements, but I hit 1400 for the first time with a version of this team and think it could be genuinely pretty good, and has been quite fun so far. I also don't know the most about EV spreads and things but I did my best!
First off, we have our obligatory sun setter, despite this being a sun team this team does not entirely rely on sun being set, and can excel even in situations where you cant set up sun or keep getting blocked by a Pelliper or glowking. For this slot I used torkoal for a while but he just didn't fit right and didn't do a whole lot besides set rocks which got removed a turn later and die.
So, I decided to switch to a slightly unconventional glowking set, using heat rock and sunny day to fuel our sun loving core, and using T-wave and Hex to spread some status and deal with some MU's that the team may not have the best answer for.
Slowking-Galar @ Heat Rock
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sunny Day
- Thunder Wave
- Hex
- Sludge Bomb
For our second slot I decided I needed a bit of a defensive sponge, and opted for alomomola, not the most original idea ever but it's the perfect switch in when you need a turn to secure yourself a safe switch against a threat, just toss it in and get the free regen from its ability, just gotta watch out for spA attackers.
Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Flip Turn
- Protect
- Scald
- Wish
Now onto the fun stuff! The first in our fast paced core is obviously Walking Wake. This is a bit of a custom set as well, meant to pop in and out using eject pack. I've fallen in love with this item quite a bit and think that it's got some very fun synergy with a team like this. Just pop a STAB draco meteor, eject out, and use one of the other 3 members of the team to pick off anything that may live a meteor. Tera blast Fairy for dealing with opposing dragons, although I'm sure this 4th slot can get switched around to something a bit better.
Walking Wake @ Eject Pack
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 6 HP / 246 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hydro Steam
- Flamethrower
- Tera Blast
The only other pokemon that truly uses the sun on this team is Roaring moon. This slot I wasn't so sure about at first but using a Speed focused set, this thing can pop in under the sun and one shot most MU's even without the proto boost to attack, and the speed boost allows it to switch in on common DD users like Dragonite and Gouging fire. U-turn also enables this pokemon to switch in and out freely, using its insane speed under the sun to get some free poke/chip if it doesn't have a good move to kill whatever is in front of it.
Roaring Moon @ Life Orb
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 32 HP / 220 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- U-turn
I didn't want to rely on the sun too much, but wanted to keep with the hyper pivot constant switching idea of the team, so our next slot goes to the ever reliable Cinderace. This set is pretty decent imo, nothing crazy or innovative, just lots of type coverage, low kick for kingambit although it hasn't been used much on my climb thus far, and of course, U-turn to allow for intense pivoting and Heavy duty boots to ignore those pesky rocks.
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Low Kick
- Pyro Ball
- Gunk Shot
For our final slot, we have another pivot loving boots using mon, Meowscarada. This set is pretty much just made to cover any type that isn't covered by the rest of the team, and used to do good amounts of damage before using good ol' U-turn to zip in and out and allow for lots of MU manipulation.
Meowscarada @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- U-turn
- Play Rough
- Flower Trick
I hope someone found this team interesting enough to try it out, and if anyone has suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them and try it out, especially when it comes to EV spreads of movesets! Thanks.
