Teambuilding Process

I wanted to make a team with Medicham, because I wanted to see his full potential.
308.png

I decide to make a team that use Volt-Switch and U-Turn to get the momentum and put the things more easily to my Medicham. This Pokemon resists flying types and has Volt-Switch to give me the momentum

We need a specially defensive Pokemon, and my choice was Jirachi, because can stop the Lati twins and has U-Turn, Stealth Rock, and Healing Wish to support my team.

I need a defoger or a spinner in my team, and seeing the metagame the last few days, Mandibuzz is a great choice, because its one of the best counters of Hoopa. In addition, Mandibuzz is my knock off user and she has U-Turn to get the momentum and put the job more easy to Medicham.

Fairy types like Clefable or Mega-Sableye give me some problems so heatran is the Pokemon that i need on my team, can beat Clefable and Sableye one and one. After I explain the set.

This team is so weak to water types Pokemon. Finally I chose Serperior because can revenge kill Keldeo, Slowbro, Manaphy and this snake can clean up at the end of the game.

This pokemon is almost always the win condition, I chose the best set for Medicham in my opinion. Fake out its amazing because does a lot of damage on a offensive Pokemon and bullet punch is the second priority move, medicham really needs it because its so slow for the ou metagame. High Jump Kick is the main stab attack, even if the opponent resists, does a lot of damage, an incredible damage. Psycho cut is my second stab, I prefer it over Zen Headbutt because is 100% accuracy and its not affected by the Rocky Helmet Chomp.

Originality 0, this is the most standard Rotom-W set but it really works, is my physically defensive wall and my main Talonflame counter and can stop Excadrill Sand Rush. Has Volt switch for the momentum, Will-O-Wisp to burn something, Hydro Pump for stab and pain split to recover some health.

She is not the star of the team but anyways works really good, I chose the specially defensive set to stop the Lati twins and because she has a lot of moves and a lot of sets and the opponent doesn't know what is actually the set that I run. Has Stealth Rock to support the team, U-turn to win the momentum, Healing Wish is so useful to pass in to Medicham or Serp and finally has Iron Head to hit fairies and get some flinches.

¿Is she the Hoopa counter? Maybe, I chose Mandi for this reason, Hoopa is very used right now and this thing really works vs him. She is my defoger, and I chose the mixed defensive set because Hoopa is mixed. Roost to recover some Hp, Knock for remove some items and make a little bit of damage and finally U-turn to win momentum and destroy Hoopa LOL.

Heatran is my Clefable and Sableye counter, and of course my Will-O-Wisp switching. First I chose the scarf set but it doesn't works good vs Clef and Sableye. So I chose the Magma storm+Air ballon set, with the Taun support can prevent the Rocks from Garchomp defensive and can trap defensive mons such as Clefable and beat them with Taunt + Flash Cannon. Of course can beat other Heatran and this is really good for my last Pokemon, Serperior.

This thing is a God, is my late game sweeper and my water revenge killer(Keldeo,Manaphy). Leaf Storm is the main move to boost my special attack. I chose Giga Drain for the longevity, but Serp can run Glare to catch Torn-T or Talonflame on a switch. Dragon pulse to beat Dragon types and HP fire for coverage to beat Ferrothorn, scizor, Skarm, Metagross etc.

Threatlist

The main threat of my team is my own team, let me explain, High Jump kick, Magma Storm, Leaf Storm = MISS! That is annoying. If you miss some hits you can lose easily.
Apart from this, Electric Pokes like Manectric or Thundurs are a big Threats to my team. Keldeo Specs has no switchings and finally Gengar Life Orb and Weavile are a headache.

Hey, I quite like the team, but i am not sure about Mandibuzz, I'd suggest running Toxic on it in place of U-turn, to stop giving the opponent free turns, since it's quite situational. Also why not just run the standard mixed spread? It would probably help with dealing with Hoopa better anyway. Due to Mandibuzz especially, I feel as though SD Bisharp is a huge problem for your team, you are forced to play around with the Suckers, hence I would suggest you to run Substitute on Serperior over Giga Drain, and run Lefties, to give you some recovery. Aside from that, quite a solid team.

Hey nice team. I just have a few suggestions:

- Run Ice Punch over Bullet Punch on Medicham. I know you said that you hate Medicham's low speed, but you have to keep in mind that Medicham is more of a wallbreaker than a sweeper. Actually 100 base speed is really good for a wallbreaker in this meta. Ice Punch allows for extra coverage against the likes of Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus and makes Medicham more self-sufficient by not having to rely on its teammates as much. If the speed problem bothers you, you can just run Jolly over Adamant, but like I said Medicham is a wallbreaker and it wants that power.

- I would change Jirachi's EV spread to 248 HP / 180 SpD / 80 Spe. The EVs allow it to outspeed Adamant Bisharp as well as Jolly Ttar.

- Like Salad. said, I'm not too sure about Mandibuzz's placement on this team. Hoopa is a problem, but I think you can apply a great deal of pressure on it given that it can't switch in on a lot of things on your team like Medicham, Serperior, Rotom, and even Jirachi if it U-Turns. You mentioned a problem with Electric-Types, Keldeo, and Gengar, so I think running something like AV Raikou might work. It can't check all the threats that you mentioned however, so I'm not sure if this is a good switch or not or if the team needs additional changes like making Jirachi Scarf, putting SR on Heatran, running Clefable, w/e. Just wanted to give you a headsup and to voice my agreement with the above post.

Hope I helped and good luck!

Thanks for the tips, I tested ice punch on Medicham before but BP gave me some victories versus Tornadus-T and other things, so I think that is better than Ice Punch. Maybe I change the EVs spread on Jirachi to prevent Jolly Ttar.
AV Raikou could works but I need a defoger and Mandi is the best that I see.

Hi,

Not really a big rate but just some small nitpicks. I suggest you to try Jolly nature on Medicham instead of Adamant nature as even if it makes Medicham weaker it helps you have at least a speed tie against Charizard Y and Gardevoir and other 100 base threats who run a positive nature (maybe some offensive Jirachi and Celebi, even if they are uncommon). Jolly nature helps you a lot against Charizard Y mainly, against your team struggles with. I'd also try Ice Punch instead of Bullet Punch, it's useful to hit Gliscor, Landorus-T etc and a Bullet Punch from a Jolly Medicham isn't doing many damages anyways.

Finally I'd try is Foul Play replacing Knock Off on Mandibuzz, it helps against physical threats like Charizard X you may struggle with.

Good luck with ur team!

Hey there cool team and congratulations in your peak, it is a pretty solid squad and it is nice to see mandibuzz shine again. I found your team a few weakness like ZardY, Volt-Turn, ZardX, Electric types, Keldeo to extend and Weavile, i think the problem resides and your defensive mons are very passive and really easy to pressure so i'd like to give a few suggestions without affecting the team.
  • I think Zen Headbutt > Psyco Cut is woth it, it is more power and chance to flinch which can change the game complete.
  • Foul Play > Knock Off is a way better option for attacking move, Foul hit a lot harder physical type attacker like Zard X which is a huge threat after +1 for your team. Also Foul help against SD bisharp because the lack of this move make you set up fodder and bish definitelly can sweep your team if Mandi dies.
  • I think too that Jirachi need speed at least hit 263, having Iron Head with 60% chance of flinching and being slow as balls doesn't help you at all
  • Since your weak to Volt-Turn core i recomended to use Lefties > Air ballon on Tran simple because give more longevity, guess Baloon is for Sand but having rotom i dont think Sand is a problem.
  • And Last since i dont want to replace mons because i think the team has flaws it is solid, so Glare > Giga Drain on Serperior to cripple some Zards both mega form which can easily switch against serperior, that make this threats easy to revenge it. You can Add Miracle Seed > Life orb if you don't want recoil and dont have anymore Giga Drain.
  • Specs Keldeo it is a threat but the only answer is if you replace Serperior for a Support Celebi and put Wish / Toxic / Fire Punch > Stealth Rock.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 84 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

Hey DennisEG, thanks for your reply, I changed Knock off for Foul Play on Mandi, Air Ballon is to catch some Garchomps but yeah, Lefties could work better, and finally I will test glare on Serp to catch Tornadus-T, Talonflame, Charizard, and other things. Of course I will change Life orb for Miracle Seed because I have the Healing Wish support for the longevity.

Moreover, Celebi is an option, but maybe I lose so much offensive pressure.
