Surprise, supr-DEAD! My first RMT!

Well, my real "first RMT" was a fail, because I failed to live up to the forum rules on in-depth descriptions for each member, so sincerest apologies for that. This particular team isn't exactly competitive, merely to battle some friends through SS, so Shoddy is rather out of the question; I'm competitive, but not THAT competitive.

This team is built around basically flabbergasting my opponent with unique movesets and Pokémon combinations. Some common team members I am up against include LeadApe, BulletPunch Scizor, PlotterPorygon-Z, RestTalk Milotic, and the dreaded SporePunch Breloom. ***NOTE*** No legendaries allowed, and OU/BL/UU Tiers only. Also, the Sleep Cause is NOT active.

In-Depth Analysis:
Lead:

Empoleon - Modest @Focus Sash
156 HP/252 Sp. Atk/100 Spd

Surf
Aqua Jet
Stealth Rock
Ice Beam

The idea here is basically to SR the first chance I get, then either Surf if I'm not KO'ed or Aqua Jet for some sort of damage to the opposing lead. However, there are a lot of problems I run into. First off, standard LeadApe screws me over, because Fake-Out will break my sash, then he can OHKO me with Close Combat. However, I have tested this out with a couple of friends, and none of them seem to run the standard LeadApe. Instead of Close Combat, they run Grass Knot (Lord knows why…). Thus, I believe that this Empoleon could also deal with them.

Another reason for an Empoleon lead is the underlying reason of my entire team: surprise. No one really expects an Empoleon lead these days, and, if Empoleon survives, it can even come back late-game and sweep for a bit. However, I’m certain that there could be other “surprise” SR leads, so Empoleon is currently the most subject to change. I’ve juggled with ideas for Metagross Leads, Swampert Leads, and even another LeadApe, but I don’t want to copy a lot of my friends, and I’d really like a surprise lead.

Tank+WishSupport
Spr_4h_134_s.png

Vaporeon - Bold @Leftovers
188 HP/252 Sp. Atk/68 Spd

Wish
Hidden Power (Grass)
Surf
Ice Beam

Basically, the quintessential tank. Vaporeon’s job is to annoy the crap out of whoever she’s up against. Also, I sometimes wind up against a RestTalking Milotic, and that’s why I’ve got Hidden Power (Grass) instead of HP Electric, because, in addition to being able to take out Milotic, it also helps out against Swamperts and Quagsires. I’ve got better counters against Gyarados. Once again, I would like to stress that the prime reason for this team is surprise; not many people would expect a Vaporeon with HP grass, hoping to switch in Swampert to stall Vappy out.

Vaporeon is only truly troubled by Toxic users, and if I see a potential one, I can always switch in my Lucario in order to withstand the Toxic and OHKO back with one of his many potential OHKO moves.

Physical Sweeper
Spr_4h_068.png

Machamp - Adamant @Leftovers
252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd

DynamicPunch
Stone Edge/Ice Punch
Rest
Sleep-Talk

My current SporePunch Breloom counter, and overall physical tank. The standard bulky Machamp set. I haven’t decided between Stone Edge or Ice Punch for better coverage, but most likely Stone Edge, in order to exploit a large rock type weakness on many OU/UU pokémon. Also, although having a ResTalking Machamp might seem against my whole philosophy of maintaining the upper hand through surprise, many of my common opponents will underestimated the abilities of Machamp, and other Fighting types in general.

For example, I was testing out my team today, and my opponent decided to counter my Machamp with a Crobat. Crobat used Fly, thinking that it could avoid any attack, then OHKO back with Fly. However, he completely misjudged my Machamp’s No Guard Ability, and was almost OHKO’d back with Stone Edge. Another surprise to my opponent was the fact that Machamp wasn’t even close to being OHKO’d with Fly. In addition, most of my friends don’t even bother with RestTalker’s, so this would be a huge surprise for them.

Rapid-Spinner + Surprise Sweeper
Spr_4h_121.png

Starmie - Timid @Leftovers
136 HP / 156 Sp. Atk / 216 Spd

Rapid Spin
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Hidden Power (Fire)

Starmie, my personal rapid spinner. What’s so creative about this? HP Fire. Who’d expect a SpinStarmie to run HP Fire? No one. Basically, I’m planning on using this to revenge-kill Scizor. However, I’m also looking to find a spot here for STAB Surf, even though two of my other team members have Surf. Surf is a very useful move, especially when 3 members of your team get STAB with it.

I’m contemplating getting rid of Rapid Spin, and giving it Surf instead. Primarily because Rapid Spin really isn’t all that useful on this team, where nothing is expressly weak against SR. However, there are probably other options for a surprise special sweeper, and I really enjoy using surprise Pokémon.

Other Special Sweepers I’m considering here is Magnezone, Gengar, and Jolteon, but the majority of other Special Sweepers are rather fragile, and I kinda like Starmie because of it’s longevity and speed.

The Star of the Show
Spr_4d_330.png

Flygon - Naive @Choice Band/Scarf/Lum Berry (suggestions?)
4 HP/194 Atk/58 Sp. Atk/252 Spd

Outrage
Earthquake
U-Turn
Flamethrower

I’m well aware of how Flygon is essentially the OU version of Garchomp, but that doesn’t make him any less useful. With his fantastic defensive typing, he can come in on any number of attacks, barring ice. In addition, he’s also got Levitate, making him my only EQ switch, although none of my team truly hates EQ, aside from Lucario. Plus, Flygon can get U-turn, making him very useful to avoid T-Tar and bring in Lucario to take any Ice Beams that T-Tar might carry, then OHKO with Aura Sphere. Plus, I really just think Flygon is looks cool.

What’s the surprise factor here? My friends don’t really expect a sweeping-capable Flygon. With Flygon out, my opponents would think about what kind of moves it would pack. I’m thinking of Lum Berry as an option to counter T-Wave users, as well as SporePunch Breloom, in case my Machamp fails to take care of it.

The Lethal Weapon
Spr_4p_448.png

Lucario - Naive @ Choice Scarf
82 Atk/192 Sp. Atk/252 Spd

Aura Sphere
Shadow Ball
Extremespeed
Crunch

This is my primary revenge killer. Lucario’s got a rather odd move pool, which might seem less effective than the standard sets, but, like I’ve said many times before, I really enjoy giving surprises. While packing both Physical and Special attacks, Lucario can take out many Pokémon quite easily. I realize that it’s movepool leaves a rather wide opening for a rather annoying Pokémon named Blissey, but I will leave Machamp to take out Blissey.

The surprise here is primarily the insane speed this thing is going to get, as well as it’s mixed movepool. By the time my opponent is going to realize that Lucario’s Scarf’ed, it’ll have already scored an effective kill, and be out and waiting in the wings to kill again. Plus, Lucario is also my all-time favorite Pokémon.

Feel free to leave any comments/concerns/suggestions! Thank you in advance!

Choice Scarf Lucario does not really have enough speed to pull of a scarf well enough. I suggest a Bulk DD Mence since if their are no legendaries then you have nothing to fear from Latias. Bulky DD set beats scizor so only Skamory and Bronzong can beat it. For this reason run Fire Blast on Flygon to take them down.

On Starmie i suggest Hydro Pump/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Recover with Life Orb as the item. It hits thing like milotic much harder and can blast through your opponients team as long as it does not have Blissey.

I probably will not have to deal with Blissey's very often. However, I really dislike the lower accuracy on Starmie, so I will probably go with Surf over Hydro Pump. It's sacrificing a bit of power, but I think the accuracy is rather important, especially because of in-game haxx. Thank you very much for the suggestions, however! I will consider DD Mence, but it's a bit of a turn off because a lot of people use 'Mence, and the main reason behind the entire team is surprise. But we shall see. I have been toying with the idea of a Ninjask lead, but then I suppose I'd have to redo the entire team.
