Hello everyone! We recently concluded our very first community survey, garnering 51 total responses, and 15 qualified responses (out of the 16 players who qualified for the CAP Ladder Tournament). This is a small sample size, but CAP is also quite a small community, so I'm pretty satisfied with the turnout! Thank you to everyone who submitted a response.
The small sample size also means that each voter's response carries a lot of weight, so everyone's voices really make an impact here; if you didn't respond this time, I encourage you to do so in the future to make your opinion truly heard. Hopefully we can continue using these surveys as a way to gauge community consensus on difficult issues. Now, getting into the results:
Enjoyment
- Overall: 7.3 / 10
- Qualified: 7.3 / 10
These are good numbers! With only a negligible .03 difference in responses between the general public and CAP Ladder Tour qualifiers, it seems that players on all fronts are enjoying the current SV CAP metagame.
Competitiveness
- Overall: 6.8 / 10
- Qualified: 7.1 / 10
These are also relatively high results. While not quite as high as enjoyment, and despite a minor discrepancy between the general public and Ladder Tour players, these numbers are more than satisfactory. However, there's always more work to be done!
Chuggalong
- Overall: 2.9 / 5
- Qualified: 3.5 / 5
Chuggalong was the most polarizing CAP we received responses on, with a fairly large discrepancy of .06 between the general public and qualified voters. While the general public's responses heavily varied but averaged right on the edge of whether Chuggalong needs a nerf or not, the players who qualified for the CAP Ladder Tour are clearly leaning towards nerfing Chuggalong.
Kitsunoh
- Overall: 2.9 / 5
- Qualified: 3 / 5
Responses were very split on whether or not Kitsunoh requires a nerf, indicating that it could essentially go either way. As opposed to the general public's responses on Chuggalong, which varied heavily, both the general public and qualified players for Kitsunoh answered right down the middle: 3, which correlated to a CAP being potentially nerf-worthy, was our most common response by far.
Cresceidon
- Overall: 2.1
- Qualified: 1.9
Despite Cresceidon's surge during the CAP Ladder Tour, it scored the lowest out of every CAP on the suvey, confidently indicating that it is not an issue for the time being.
Necturna
- Overall: 3.1
- Qualified: 2.8
Responses on Necturna were also quite split, with the general public very slightly believing a nerf is in order, and qualified voters very slightly believing a nerf is unnecessary. Notably, players seem somewhat polarized on Necturna, given that responses generally leaned towards twos or fours.
Necturna Tiering Action
- Overall: Rage Fist ban: 43 | Movepool/stats nerf: 8
- Qualified: Rage Fist ban: 12 | Movepool/stats nerf: 3
Overwhelmingly, both the general public and qualified players prefered a Rage Fist ban to a direct nerf to Necturna's stats and/or native movepool. If the Metagame Council indeed decides to take action on Necturna in the coming days, we will be banning Rage Fist from the SV CAP metagame.

- A better survey
Big thanks again to everyone who responded. If you have feedback on how this survey was conducted, whether that pertains to the language of questions, how we collected / reported data, potential questions to ask in the future, or anything else, please feel free to DM me; this was our very first survey so we are open to feedback of all kinds. The Metagame Council will be discussing where to move forward from here, with an announcement hopefully coming in the next few days. Stay tuned!
