Project SV LC Teambuilding Competition - Cycle 5 : Ranked Selection (Building Phase)

:mienfoo::vullaby::foongus::mudbray::diglett-alola::sandshrew-alola:

Super standard team, pretty self-explanatory.

:mienfoo: SD over Fake Out to provide more offensive pressure.
:vullaby: Evil set, but it can be a threatening late-game cleaner, especially if Tera has been used, which Snowshrew is great at forcing.
:foongus: Good bulk + Spore + Regen.
:mudbray: It's Mudbray. Rocks + fat.
:diglett-alola: The best wallbreaker right now. I went with a Tera Stellar + 4A set because I don't find myself clicking Sub often, but it's flexible.
:sandshrew-alola: This thing kind of 6-0s most teams on preview. Taxel and Earthquake are hard to switch into, and Ice Shard secures kills.

Alright time to showcase the colors. Thank you to everyone who submitted teams and supported this thread. Here are this weeks teams:

Team 1 - Axew and the Green Machines by Winterbub :bulbasaur::axew::cottonee::grookey::skiddo::sprigatito:

Team 2 - Amazon Prime by xzeroxman :corphish::pawniard::mareanie::chinchou::elekid::mienfoo:

Team 3 - Double Cool Offense by mmtaccos :diglett-alola::vullaby::toedscool::mienfoo::tentacool::chinchou:

Team 4 - Team of Unrelenting Christmas Cheer by turtwigmygoat :snover::sandshrew-alola::silicobra::litten::grookey::voltorb:

Team 5 - Purple People Eaters by Kowasabii :vullaby::shellder::stunky::shellos::crabrawler::diglett-alola:

Team 6 - Yellow Brown White by xonks :mienfoo::vullaby::foongus::mudbray::diglett-alola::sandshrew-alola:

Trying a new thing where I have linked the post with the writeup in the team name so it's easier to find. I would recommend reading the writeups above.

To vote, please post with the three teams that you think should win. For example, if I thought that Team 735, Team 90 and Team 129 were the best, I would post this:

Team 735, Team 90, Team 129

Very simple. After voting is finished the team(s) with the most votes will win. Good luck!

The voting period will end on Sunday midnight GMT -8 per usual.

The voting period has now ended and I'm happy to announce that the winner with 4 votes...

Snowshrew Groundspam by xonks
:mienfoo::vullaby::foongus::mudbray::diglett-alola::sandshrew-alola:

This one was super close. There were 4 other teams with 3 votes each. Real nail-biter. Congratulations!

CYCLE FIVE
RANKINGS FOR A REASON?

"Give me everything"

Pitbull banger for this week. That's why your prompt for this week is "Build a team with one S-ranked, one A-ranked, one B-ranked, one C-ranked and the last 2 can be D-ranked or unranked" Apart from this, there are no restrictions. In case it wasn't clear X-ranked includes X, X+ and X- for eg one A-rank means only one from A, A- or A+ and here are the Viability Rankings for easy access. Thanks to a couple of my friends for this idea, if you guys have other fun ideas feel free to dm me on smogon on discord.

As usual deadline for the building phase of this cycle is Saturday midday PDT

This would have been the perfect opportunity to build a Quaxly team, therefor I'm not going to build a Quaxly team. Welcome to...

Poliwag Hazard Stack

:Mienfoo: S
I chose Mienfoo for my S rank because Vullaby is incredibly lame. I didn't reinvent the wheel here, just ran a standard fast pivot set to best support the cooler mons on this team. I chose tera steel to help the Vull matchup.

:Mudbray: A
Mudbray is our rocker. I chose to go max speed max attack jolly with endeavor. This lets Bray trade positively into a lot of standard structures.

:Grookey: B
I picked Grookey for some more strong priority in the back. I went SD 3 attack because I wanted some sort of setup wincon on this team. With opposing teams getting battered from all the hazards Grookey can pick up some nasty kills it otherwise may have been unable to.

:Pawniard: C
This is the first cool Pokemon on this team. I opted for a scarf set because I recently played in a BW LC tour and saw it put in a lot of work there. While it needs a lot of support it is also great in SV. I still kept sucker because there's a lot of things that will be faster even after the scarf boost like WA Vull, Smash Shellder, and Scarf Growlithe. I went for tera blast flying as the last move to catch some people off guard.

:Poliwag: D
This is a Pokemon emptywisdom put me on to and I've always wanted to build around it. I opted for a 3 attack encore set with surf, ice beam, and psychic. I ran tera psychic to help pick up kills on Mareanie and Mienfoo. Encore can help with bulky mons spamming recovery or set up. Protect is a valid choice over encore as well.

:Pineco: D
Pineco is our spiker and spinner. Ice spinner can get some chip on Foongus. It can spore absorb because of overcoat. I'll be honest this mon is definitely dead weight outside of hazard control. Lounge can get a useful attack drop before Pineco dies. Okay so I wrote this before the replays and apparently this mon is goated.

Real PTPL fans like Envy know about my otr solosis snow ho. I put a spin on it with Tentacool as my grounded poison and Drilbur as a Stealth Rock setter/proper Volt immune to get a nice S,A,B,C,D,UR theme going. In sum:

:vullaby: S
Vullaby -- secondary wincon meant to force tera on teams without Glimmet. This usually secures heavy chip on Mudbray and other potential Sandshrew checks if the opp assumes it is physical.

:Sandshrew-Alola: A
Alolan Sandshrew -- Snow wincon. Tera Ground rolls to kill opposing Alolan Sandshrew at +2 and allows you to trap Elekid for surprise KOs. This can function offensively under snow or Trick Room, and should be kept healthy as much as possible.

:Snover: B
Snover -- Your snow setter, and a Ground-type resist. Protect gives some leverage against Mienfoo. This is best sent in with Trick Room up, as Snover is slower than most of the offensive pieces in the tier.

:Drilbur: C
Drilbur -- Stealth Rock setting lead. Rock Tomb and Rapid Spin provide some utility to open up a somewhat slow and rocks-weak team. Tera Water gives a little extra defensive support

:Tentacool: D
Tentacool -- fight resist, fire resist, pivot, and grounded Poison-type with Knock Off for utility. Tenta can probably fit Toxic Spikes or Rapid Spin for added utility, as liquidation deals pitiful damage.

:Solosis: UR
Solosis -- Trick Room setter and sleep immune. Can come in on Foongus and set Trick Room. Thunder rolls to kill on Vullaby after rocks, while Tera Ground Tera Blast breaks through Stunky and Steel-types, helping open up your other sweepers.

This is past the deadline so if im disqualified that's alright. I continued my theme of silicobra propaganda this week. Here's the team:

:Vullaby: :Stunky: :Growlithe-Hisui: :Crabrawler: :Silicobra: :Quaxly:

:Vullaby:
I wasn't sure whether to go mienfoo or vullaby, but I went with vullaby because of crabrawler working well on this team. Standard physical pivot set.

:Stunky:
I originally went with glimmet as my grounded poison A rank on this team, but I changed to stunky. My main reasoning for this was that with glimmet, my team seemed to be perpetually weak to chinchou. Stunky provides me with the immediate speed to threaten chinchou, and serves as the second knock off spreader for my team.

:Growlithe-Hisui:
The obligatory foongus check on this team. At worst, you will force an award tera water on foongus, allowing crabrawler or vullaby to take care of it while growlithe sleeps.

:Crabrawler:
I really like this guy. He is certainly outclassed by mienfoo, but bulk up set up can be quite scary, and his coverage options plus iron fist make for a solid set up sweeper. Tera electric to nullify flying threats like wingull and vullaby.

:Silicobra:
As I said last week, this pokemon can be a decent lead, with good matchups into most leads. People won't want to switch in their electric types for glare because you threaten with eq. you need max attack invest for 1hko against full health elekid, this mon has lacking offenses.

:Quaxly:
I went to Quaxly for my hazard clear on this team. As is the usual with this team, not very good into chinchou. But this mon can get you value in a good amount of games, strong against vullaby switch in.

i hope im not too late...
:crabrawler::vullaby::tinkatink::larvesta::poliwag::bramblin:

:crabrawler: budget scarf mienfoo
:vullaby: lead goat, spreads knock for crab and poliwag, defogs hazards for larv, heat wave last move cause fuck sandshrew
:tinkatink: obligatory vull check and rocker
:larvesta: budget foo check, spreads burns, pivot for crab poli and vull
:poliwag: my 19 speed breaker with tera ground ep over tera psychic to not click x into chinchou
:bramblin: obligatory mudbray check, poltergeist over sneak to hit stuff like foong tink etc harder
