Teambuilding can be quite a scary task sometimes. Maybe you don't know where to start, or you're stuck with a half-baked team. Whether it is because you are learning a new tier, or you are new to competitive Pokémon in general, it can be hard to understand what a specific Pokémon does. That's the purpose of this resource, to provide readily available information on the roles a Pokémon can fulfill on any type!
These are the guidelines followed for the role compendium:
- Anything to the right of a bar ( | ) is a niche Pokemon or a niche way to run it.
- Anything unranked in the SV National Dex Monotype Viability Rankings is not included, and anything < B (e.g. any C or D rankers) are counted as niche.

Here are some things to keep in mind while submitting:
- Be respectful of other people's submissions, e.g. no flaming, no roasting, no insulting. Just keep it civil, please.
- Be objective. Don't let your love or dislike of a Pokémon affect your post.
- Please only nominate mons that you have experience with in the SV National Dex Monotype metagame.
- Please don't post memes.
- Calcs and replays are optional, though they are strongly appreciated.
- You can nominate multiple Pokémon per post. If you do, just paste the nomination format multiple times in your reply, and then fill them out in.
- If you nominate a Pokémon that isn't ranked in the VR, we highly encourage you to make your case in the VR thread first.
