Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Dark
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Flower Trick
- U-turn
- Brick Break
Meowscarada checks Kingambit nicely with the niche move Brick Break which is a guaranteed OHKO, while none of Kingambit's moves actually OHKOing it apart from Kowtow Cleave unboosted. Meowscarada also outspeeds Kingambit obviously, so to actually deal damage to Meow, King either has to Tera or Sucker Punch

252 Atk Choice Band Protean Meowscarada Brick Break vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kingambit: 564-664 (165.3 - 194.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 104-123 (35.4 - 41.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO - nowhere near killing
+2 252+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 207-244 (70.6 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - not killing
+2 252+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 252-297 (86 - 101.3%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO - 1/8 of a chance to kill

Bringing a ghost to counter a dark type might seem counter(pun intended) intuitive, but with Skeledirge's stupid physical bulk when it teras into fighting it literally tanks 3 tera dark letting it punish with 2hko from t blast fighting. "bUt wHaT iF kINgaMbIt uSEs tErA fIrE ?" well you simple minded dumb dumb even that wont save it from a 2hko from earth power if teras into fire(8 SpA Tera Fighting Skeledirge Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Fire Kingambit: 162-192 (47.5 - 56.3%) -- 82.4% chance to 2HKO). "bUt wHaT iF KiNgAmBit UsEs sUPrEmE OvErLoRd?" well i hate to tell you, but this Kingambit has max supreme overlord against skeledirge with black glasses (252+ Atk Black Glasses Supreme Overlord 5 allies fainted Tera Dark Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fighting Skeledirge: 136-160 (33 - 38.9%) -- 99.8% chance to 3HKO). Now, the only reason I'm putting skeledirge as a check not a counter, is because it needs to switch in safely in order to tera or it will risk an ohko from kowtow cleave (252+ Atk Black Glasses Supreme Overlord 5 allies fainted tera Fire Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Skeledirge: 408-480 (99.2 - 116.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO). nevermind what i just said, Colbur Berry lets skele switch in safely so its a counter now :skeledirge:

Like most everyday household appliances, they only do a couple of things, but they do them right, like a washer cleans your clothes, expect this one cleans up any Kingambits on the field, weather that be with a 2hko from hydro pump (252+ SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Dark Kingambit: 195-231 (57.1 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO) or a 2hko from tbolt (252+ SpA Rotom-Wash Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Dark Kingambit: 160-189 (46.9 - 55.4%) -- 69.5% chance to 2HKO ), It destroys any hope of kingambit revenge killing even with 50% supreme overlord boosted sucker punch since it has tera fighting to resist its stab.

Anyways these are my top candidates for cyber bullying Kingambit, let me know if i have any incorrect info/calcs since that would be embarasing if I gave incorrect cals lmfao but otherwise thanks for reading and have a good one (all calcs done with max supreme overlord buff)

EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

Standard Body Press Sets can threathen gambit in the mid game.
252+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kingambit: 284-336 (83.2 - 98.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
You can also choose to tera fighting to guaranteed a ohko from full
252+ Def Tera Fighting Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kingambit: 424-504 (124.3 - 147.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Corv can also survive a +2 SD boosted + 5 allies fainted kowtow cleave without tera.
+2 252+ Atk Supreme Overlord 5 allies fainted Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 325-384 (81.4 - 96.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
You can also choose to iron defense on the turn it SD's, nullifying its SD boosts and guarantees a OHKO with Body Press.

ofc Corviknight is far from a 100% counter as tera allow gambit to cover corv and corv can worn down by teamates.
Also You could not afford to always switch into Gambit with Stealth Rock Up.
but nonetheless its still a fine check and Body press movesets allow it to naturally threaten the end game and prevent gambit get going.

Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 88 HP / 172 Def / 72 SpA / 176 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Thunderbolt
- Iron Defense
- Flash Cannon

This Magnezone serve as a good check to almost all variants of Kingambit. This evs spread allows it to outspeed max speed Adamant Kingambit while being able to OHKO it with an unboosted Body Press without Tera. The 72 SpAtt evs allows it to OHKO Tera Flying variants and have a 56% chance to OHKO Tera Fairy Kingambit. The rest is put in HP for overall bulk. What I like about this particular Magnezone is that unlike Specs variants you are not forced to use to use Tera Blast Fighting to make sure you KO the Kingambit.
Magnet Pull also basically forces the Kingambit to Tera if it wants to have a chance to espace alive which no Pokemon other than Magnezone can do.

80 speed evs and jolly means that tsareena outspeeds jolly max speed kingambit. Tera fighting low kick is a guaranteed ohko without any attack investment. Queenly majesty means that Kingambit will never be able to sucker. +252 atk kingambit with 5 allies fainted will never ohko tsareena with iron head or kowtow (especially after tera fighting). What if it's tera fire though? That kinda throws the whole thing out the window

So Kingambit with 5 allies fainted can just 2HKO with Iron head before you can KO
BTW this is why I don't like it when the victim set has slashes, I think a single set should be picked, no slashes.

I don't like slashes either. If it's tera fire, just pray for a crit or they low roll.

Thank you to everyone who participated. Will try to avoid using slashes in teras in the future when I put the round up. Out of the submissions I am not considering Rotom-W since its the second submission of the same person. I am also moving Tsareena up to check as it doesnt switch into Iron Head (gets 2HKO and doesnt OHKO Tera Dark not Fire). Everyone can vote for up to 2 checks and 1 counter

hello! hope you guys are enjoying home, figured i’d let the meta settle before starting a new week. let’s start off with a banger.

Week 14 - Swords Dance Urshifu-R
:ss/urshifu-rapid-strike:
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Punching Glove
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet / Thunder Punch

Urshifu-R's newly found access to Swords Dance has quickly established it as one of the most potent offensive Pokemon in the tier. The bear’s amazing offensive typing, high base power moves, and solid Speed tier make it a premier Pokemon. It can also act as a great revenge killer thanks to Aqua Jet. Alternatively, Thunder Punch can target some Water-types. Punching Glove removes Urshifu-R’s fear of contact effects from things like Rocky Helmet and Static, and Tera Water turns Surging Strikes into a terrifying attack for defensive cores to consistently be able to handle.

How will you check this Pokemon? Submissions are due June 9th. Make sure to specify whether you are submitting a check or a counter.

Houndstone @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD
Impish Nature
Tera-Type: Fighting
- Body Press
- Will-o-Wisp
- Roar
- Rest

Last Respects is the one good strong physical move Houndstone has access to. It starts off at a meager 50 base power, but it gets 50 more each time an allied Pokemon faints, making Houndstone a terrifying late-game offensive threat...

1686008563495.jpeg

Still, although it suddenly doesn't want to be a Ghost-type anymore, Houndstone can still be a terrifying defensive threat, especially to physical attackers, and it owes that to its Fluffy ability, which halves the damage it takes from any contact move in exchange for taking extra damage from Fire attacks. Rocky Helmet makes clicking a contact moves even less worth it, as the attacker takes damage on top of not doing all that much to Houndstone. However, it's slashed to the side of Leftovers due to its ineffectiveness against the Punching Glove that Urshifu so likes to run. Houndstone is a hard counter either way; in fact, it doesn't even need to Terastallize against Urshifu at all, and can even stomach 2 Tera-Water Surging Strikes or a single boosted one.

252 Atk Punching Glove Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Houndstone on a critical hit: 102-120 (29.3 - 34.4%) -- approx. 1.2% chance to 3HKO*
+2 252 Atk Punching Glove Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Houndstone on a critical hit: 201-237 (57.7 - 68.1%) -- approx. 2HKO

For future reference, calcs marked * are where Leftovers actually denies that specific (chance) KO threshold. Houndstone is that good at walling off contact moves that the Leftovers recovery actually matters, here.

Meanwhile, Houndstone can either Roar it out or burn it with Will-o-Wisp, before Resting up on it or another non-threatening physical attacker.

Tera-Fighting protects Houndstone against Dark attacks, and powers up its one attacking move in Body Press. Specifically, Tera-Fighting Press soundly 3HKOs Urshifu, who can't 3HKO back without a boost (or 2 if it's burned) unless it high-rolls like a god. Without Tera-Fighting available, Press isn't even guaranteed a 4HKO (it might be in Houndstone's favor to get it, but I'll say it again; we don't take kindly to rolls around here).

252+ Def Houndstone Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 80-95 (23.4 - 27.8%) -- 84.2% chance to 4HKO
252+ Def Tera Fighting Houndstone Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 120-142 (35.1 - 41.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

You might still wanna hold back from Terastallizing Houndstone until you're actually ready to attack with it, though. The immunity to Close Combat that you'd otherwise lose can come in handy if Surging Strikes is low on PP. Do note that Urshifu is incentivized to click Surging Strikes even against Tera-Fighting Houndstone if it can; SS outdamages CC naturally thanks to Punching Glove, and doesn't drop Urshifu's Defenses

252 Atk Punching Glove Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Tera Fighting Houndstone on a critical hit: 75-90 (21.5 - 25.8%) -- approx. 0.1% chance to 4HKO*
252 Atk Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Tera Fighting Houndstone: 71-84 (20.4 - 24.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO*

Natural CC immunity + Surging Strikes resistance means it can kind of safely come in on Urshifu clicking SD or Close Combat. From there, it'll live any hit:
+2 252 Atk Punching Glove Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Brambleghast on a critical hit: 252-297 (80.2 - 94.5%) -- approx. 2HKO
and Strength Sap it all back. From there, you threaten massive damage with a Power Whip,
0 Atk Brambleghast Power Whip vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 290-344 (85 - 100.8%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO (Power Whip is chosen over other attacking moves for this reason), a layer of Spikes, or more Strength Saps. You'll need to predict and call out any Swords Dance predicting Strength Sap, though--as +4 absolutely tears through you and +3 and Tera will too. That, plus the reliance on needing to be at literally full HP to live a Surging Strikes, makes it a check, not a counter.

Urshifu strongest move against tangrowth is CC

+2 252 Atk Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 241-285 (59.6 - 70.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And with the added healing from giga . Tangrowth can survive two plus 2 attacks and 2hko urshifu.

0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 266-314 (78 - 92%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Now a little more in depth math. The amount giga recovers is between 32.9 - 38.8% . Which means that with that recovery. Growth can swap into urshifu. If he goes for any attack. It's easy pickings. If he goes for sd. You will live a +2 cc and outheal his dmg with giga
tangrowth is not in SV lul
