Suspect SV Revelationmons Suspect #1: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (Gliscor)

:sv/gliscor:
Revelationmons is suspect testing Gliscor!

Gliscor is one of the tier's most polarising Pokemon, being able to fire off incredibly powerful Flying-type Facades, even without much Attack investment, alongside great bulk and Poison Heal to outlast almost all of its defensive answers. Flying STAB is rare, even for Revelationmons's standards, and Gliscor's oppressive nature alongside its incredibly wide movepool makes answering it quite difficult. Not just that, but one of Gliscor's best and most splashable counters, Urshifu-RS, was recently quickbanned for being too much for the tier to handle. However, without much of an Attack boost it's still quite reasonable to answer Gliscor with proper positioning—this is where Swords Dance, what actually makes Gliscor so divisive, come in.

Swords Dance, usually with maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature, is enough to turn Gliscor from a strong utility Pokemon into a game-ending wallbreaker and sweeper instantly. Flying-type Facade in combination with Swords Dance is so strong that resists can quickly get used as setup fodder; for example, Zapdos, a Pokemon that resists Gliscor's STABs, cannot answer Gliscor if not an offensive variant thanks to its lack of damage output and Gliscor outspeeding it. Ground-type Knock Off alongside Spikes support from the likes of Ting-Lu and Ogerpon-Wellspring removes the likes of Alomomola, Dondozo, and Slowbro, while removing counterplay from the likes of Pecharunt and bulky Choice Specs Gholdengo. Earthquake is similar, removing the likes of Pecharunt and Kingambit as answers more consistently on teams with reduced entry hazard presence. Taunt is a niche but relevant option to punish Skarmory and Iron Defense Corviknight, two of Gliscor's best answers, but is noticeably worse offensively and is terrible into physically defensive Gliscor and Dondozo, limiting Taunt to stall where it still shines. Agility and Quick Attack are rare but relevant options on offense teams, giving up Protect to try to win faster, usually without the usual HP investment. Gliscor also makes it very clear that Pokémon is not a 1v1 game, often using the utility and previous progress of teammates like Spikes Skarmory, Knock Off Ogerpon-Wellspring, and Choice Band Weavile to present more opportunities to take over games. The biggest reason Gliscor is so problematic, though, is Poison Heal, allowing Gliscor to go to low HP to remove a Pokemon and then attempt to sweep or claim a KO it wouldn't otherwise by simply being pivoted in and clicking Protect before switching out again a few times, so even attempting to trade it one-for-one requires being actually KOing it in the first place.

However, Gliscor is not without fault. It is incredibly susceptible to offense teams without screens support, being OHKOed by the likes of Weavile, Walking Wake, and Ice Beam Deoxys-Speed and outsped by other relevant threats, like Iron Valiant, Iron Moth, and Cinderace. Rotom-W can easily punish Gliscor thanks to it being resistant or immune to its STABs, Levitate letting Rotom-W avoid Spikes damage, Pain Split negating Poison Heal recovery, and Water-type Discharge consistently chunking Gliscor. Gliscor also, quite ironically, loses to Zamazenta-C one-on-one, reducing the amount of offensive utility it provides, although Zama-C is quite easily worn down over time. Galarian Weezing, while not super common nor an active fan of Gliscor's Ground STAB, can punish it for staying on the field for too long thanks to Neutralising Gas removing Poison Heal temporarily. The likes of Galarian Slowking, Great Tusk, and Tyranitar can also punish Gliscor for trying to freely switch in on them with their Ice coverage, forcing it to play passively to attempt to heal for multiple turns. The combination of counters like Corviknight + Dondozo and Alomomola + Skarmory is also often more than enough for bulkier teams to handle Gliscor, although it's debatable whether or not this is actually acceptable. There's also the aspect that Gliscor has insane 4MSS, limiting its actual effectiveness to mainly just theory and what teammates it has. The defensive utility Gliscor also provides cannot be understated, allowing for many of the tier's physical threats, like Entei, Iron Valiant, and Ceruledge, to be answered multiple times consistently and with significant role compression.

In the end, it comes down to the perspective of you, the player. Do you believe Gliscor's power and the defensive strain it puts on teambuilding makes it too much to handle? Or do you see it as a healthy presence, allowing for more tier diversity?

SUSPECT REQUIREMENTS

The instructions to participate in this retest are as follows:
  • Create a new account on PS. You do not have to follow any specific naming convention, but your suspect account must have never played a game in SV Revelationmons before this suspect test went up or you will not receive valid requirements (resetting W-L does not count for this—the account you use must never have played Revelationmons before the test, full stop.)
    • You can use /rank to check if your alt is allowed to get requirements. Whenever in doubt, type /rank and it will tell confirm if you are eligible or not
  • At any point on your new account, use the command /linksmogon on Pokemon Showdown! You will receive instructions on what to do once you run this command
  • Double check that you're listed as a voter here! If you aren't listed as a voter despite having valid reqs, please contact dhelmise, Giagantic, April or any other OM Staff member
  • If you have any questions about this new process, feel free to PM dhelmise!
The requirement to vote in this suspect test is a COIL value of 2850 (with a B value of 2). The deadline for getting requirements will be <t:1759118340:f>.

Voting:
Once the suspect period is over, everyone who has obtained reqs will be tagged. The post will contain the link for blind voting. For now, follow the above "Suspect Requirements" subheading to ensure that you have achieved requirements and linked your account.

A majority of 60% ban votes is required to ban Gliscor in Revelationmons!

TL;DR:
- Gliscor is being suspect tested
- The needed COIL value is 2850, with a B value of 2
- You can ladder on any name, as long as you have never laddered Revelationmons with it.
- You must link your suspect alt with your smogon account using /linksmogon
- You have untill <t:1759118340:f> to get reqs

Will be voting ban. The only reliable wall that can stop this is Corviknight, and even that can lose to gimmicky Taunt sets. Faster Pokemon can be set up on with Agility Swords Dance, and Ogerpon-Wellspring can't even defeat the max defense Gliscor sets without getting OHKOed back by Flying Facade.

I still despise Zamazenta-Crowned. Weather is more manageable, but only because of Tyranitar.

Got reqs pretty early on and while Corv/Skarm are still pretty good answers to Taunt Gliscor it's not funny just how easily they're overwhelmed over time, and oftentimes Gliscor doesn't need Ground STAB to still cause issues. I'll post a few teams with Gliscor at home, but this thing is so hilariously stupid. It does the same amount of damage as Scream Tail and has similar bulk, but just has free recovery per turn for no reason + actually powerful anti-Steel moves.

As the guy who made the callout post for a Gliscor suspect, I had to put my money where my mouth is. Ban this mf Gliscor. The only reason you would not have a problem with this nuisance is because you run only Offense, Hyper-Offense, and Stall, which don't allow Gliscor easy switch-ins/opportunity to run rampant with a 140-BP STAB Flying-type. We've already set a precedent for banning mons with overbearingly strong Flying-Type STAB (ex. Dragonite, Noivern's Boomburst which is the same power as Facade btw), so let's get this guy outta here.

I think it's worth noting that balance CAN handle Gliscor, but the restrictions that come aren't exactly friendly and either require one of WW/ID Skarm, ID Corv, or Dondozo + strong removal, OR the combo of Alo or a similar consistent physically bulky pivot + something that can outspeed and OHKO like Weavile, Scarf Mamo, and Wake. It's not like HArc/DNite/Noiv where there aren't answers, it's moreso the restrictions that come from it.
