Sylveon is an astounding pokemon. Not only can it wall most special attackers, it also holds the highest special damage output of any fairy. When faced with a special attacker, Sylveon has nearly no trouble setting up for a calm mind sweep. Not only does Sylveon have great HP and Special Defense; it's typing, pure fairy, gives it a lot to work with. With a huge immunity to dragon, Sylveon can be used to check all members of the type. However, Sylveon has a large problem in steel types, which you'll have to clear the field of if you really want Sylveon to do it's job.
