Taking advantage of the new metagame, an OU RMT

Hai guys ^^ I decided I needed too make a new team scince my old one was 4 months old and not adapt too todays metagame. I tried too make a team that takes this new metagame and tries too counter the commonly used pokemon, and try too make my pokemon look like they have a commonly used moveset (Tyranitar) and use that as a chance too get in a sweep, without further adue here is the team.

machamp.png

Machamp (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 104 HP/252 Atk/50 Spd/104 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Bullet Punch
- Payback
- Ice Punch

This is my own Machamp set, I think substitute is useless on it because people predict it anyway, and this set gives me priority and more coverage, I used this on my last team anyway, before it became popular, it destroys most leads, but if you have a better anti-lead with priority that works then I'm okay with it. o.O

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake

This thing is awesome, every single person expects a scarf and I get a free Dragon dance, I sweep a lot with this Barbiri berry is for those pesky steels that think they can kill me, but fail, and I have magnezone for that, I prefer Earthquake over Fire Fang because you only need fire fang for scizor, and I have a barbiri berry anyway.

Rotom-c @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/68 Def/188 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Will-o-wisp
- Thunderbolt
- Pain Split

My own rotom set I made ^^ It works quite well at walling and cripples a lot of things, Will-o-Wisp is for physical attackers, substitute is good for getting a free attack or a substitute if you have the chance, pain split is for recovering health and Thunderbolt is for STAB, it works quite well and walls.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Thunderpunch

The usual scarfrachi with Three punches for coverage, thunder punch over Zen headbut for gyarados, I'm surprised no one uses this little fella anymore, it works so well and in this metagame of steel types and tyranitar, it's one of the best pokemon in it. I took away ice punch, which I had for stealth rocks, because they would help Tyranitar immencely.

magnezone.png

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 Atk/216 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute

I have no clue why this thing dropped in usage.... With tyranitar being so popular and it being weak too steel, it's obvious that more Steel types will show up, and that makes Magnezone even MORE usefull then it was before, it works very well with my tyranitar, I take it out too scout, then in comes a Scarfrachi or Banded scizor for instance, I go into magnezone and it goes bye-bye, and makes my Tyranitar sweep ever so easiar, It works like a charm, I set up a substitute while the opponent does nothing too me, kill him off and I can get a hit on what comes in, or if it's a bad threat, explode. I have hidden power grass too lure swampert in and kill it, because it won't help my tyranitar sweep at all.

Kingdra (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Signal Beam

This is my own version of specs kingdra, coming back in this team like all my others, and this time by a suggestion ^^ The only time I don't use it it comes too me anyway. Draco meteor and hydro pump make a dual stab coverage. Dragon Pulse is for STAB when I don't want too lose sp. atk. and Signal beam is too outspeed and OHKO defencive celebi, With STAB on Water-type moves, I can open a whole other dimension of power compared to Salamence and Latias. Dragon and Water have near perfect coverage so there's no need for any other move. Kingdra can also act as a pseudo check to Infernape and Gyarados, should the need arise. Latias might be better but I realy don't want too spend the whole game trying too kill that tyranitar so Latias can come in freely and losing because of it.

Well, that's it ^^ I hope you enjoyed my RMT, any suggestions for my team are welcome, I'm not the best team builder. Thanks ^^

Hi. First off, I notice you are lacking Stealth Rock. I highly suggest you replace one of Jirachi's punches and give it Stealth Rock. It is extremely valuable as for every switch you cause damage, and will be vital if you plan to sweep with Tyranitar. For instance, you don't even have a chance to OHKO Scizor with a +1 Stone Edge without it. Your Babiri Berry will have gone to waste. As to which elemental punch to replace, Ice Punch is mostly for Salamence and Latias, both of which are hurt badly by Iron Head and you probably won't be staying in on Gliscor. You should also drop Jirachi's HP EVs and put them into Speed so Jirachi at least ties with Choice Scarf Flygon and +1 Salamence.

Swampert could be troublesome to Tyranitar and Jirachi as well. By giving Magnezone Hidden Power Grass, you can effectively lure it out and defeat it. This will be a great help to Tyranitar later in the game. Hidden Power Fire is usually for Scizor and Forretress. Both of which are 2HKOed by Thunderbolt anyway and more often than not won't be able to do a significant amount of damage to you in return. You can also try out Life Orb for a much bigger bang with Explosion and it will also guarantee the OHKO on Swampert and possibly OHKO Scizor with Thunderbolt (this is where Stealth Rock comes in handy again). Salamence, unlike Latias, is weak to Stealth Rock, and as such will find it hard switching in and out to spam Draco Meteor. For this reason, I definitely suggest Choice Specs Latias but if you are simply opposed to Latias, then how about Kingdra:

Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Nature: Timid / EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
~ Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse / Surf / Hydro Pump

With STAB on Water-type moves, you can a whole other dimension of power compared to Salamence and Latias. Dragon and Water have near perfect coverage so there's no need for any other move. Kingdra can also act as a pseudo check to Infernape and Gyarados, should the need arise. However, you may have trouble with MixMence whom Kingdra does not outspeed the majority of them. This is another reason to use Specs Latias > Specs Mence or Kingdra. Good luck.

Using kingdra would be nice ^^Specs kingdra is my favorite pokemon, this is actully the only team I have without it, thanks for the suggestions ^^

As for the specs kingdra suggestion, id slap hp electric over dragon pulse to hit empoleon, and yawn over surf to force more switches and possibly sleep something

Hidden power electric is fairly pointless as Empoleo. Is rather uncommon. Ice beam is 100% useless on Kingdra as Surf hits Ground types harder, Dragon Pulse kills dragon types anyway, and Celebi is hit harder by Signal Beam anyway. Yawn is a pretty bad idea as well, as I would rather kill something than force it out. Plus you will be forced out too since you are locked into Choice Specs. If you choose not to go the total Dragon / Water route, then at least replace Ice Beam with Dragon Pulse and it probably would be in your best interest to replace Hydro Pump with Surf because it has perfect accuracy.

Actually, dragonite is not OHKOed by a dragon pulse, while it is by ice beam, same with fat mence.

fat-Mence takes 108.6% - 128.4% from a specs dragon pulse, the bulkiest Dragonite (which is very very rare) takes 68.6% - 81% from the same dragon pulse, still a good chance of ohkoing it after SR. Needless to say, you're faster than Dragonite so if it switches in on Kingrda expecting a surf you'll be able to comfortably 2hko it with dragon pulse.

If you don't want to go completely water\dragon use signal beam as MetaNite suggested, if anything you'll be able to ohko Celebi.

Hi Xatu, got your message.

Your team already has a large number of threats covered simply by using Jirachi and Rotom, so that's good. In fact, your team already looks great from what I can see, and MetaNite's suggestions just made it better. While Specs Kingdra is quite good on this team, I also think that a Dragon Dance Gyarados could do well also. Dragon Dance Gyarados can easily take Steel-type attacks just as well as Kingdra, but can actually set up on them. A combination of DDTar and DDDos will allow you to wear down opposing walls much more easily; both are also countered by Scarf Jirachi, who in turn is killed by Magnezone. Try this:

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Jolly nature | 4 HP | 252 Atk | 252 Spe
Dragon Dance | Waterfall | Stone Edge | Earthquake

Gyarados does work very well alongside your other Pokemon, and so I do encourage you to try him out; he can soften up Tyranitar's usual counters very well.

Speaking of Tyranitar, I have a few small changes on it I'd like you to try. I definitely think that you should use a Jolly nature so that you can outspeed Life Orb Starmie after a Dragon Dance; with an Adamant nature, you are unable to outpace positive natured base 115s, meaning Starmie can outspeed and deal heavy damage to you with Hydro Pump. Your team also looks like it can somewhat struggle to switch in on LOStarmie, so outspeeding it after a DD is an advantage. Also, I really don't see the point of running Babiri Berry when you have Magnezone; you are already luring in Steel-types like a shot, so instead of staying in and wasting your item, why not just switch out to Magnezone and get a free KO? This, in turn, frees up your item slot to be able to use a different item. I would personally go for Lum Berry so that you can hook an additional Dragon Dance against defensive Rotom-A who will try and Will-O-Wisp you, but Life Orb is a viable option as well if you're looking for more power.

Lastly, something pretty minor that I still think is worth mentioning is a small change on Rotom. I would run Discharge in place of Thunderbolt. The power difference is barely noticeable, and Discharge has a neat 30% paralysis rate, which can be helpful when you're attempting to set up with Tyranitar. It also allows Magnezone and Machamp to be more effective; they aren't exactly fast, and so paralysis support helps it.

Cool team, and good luck! ;)

Thaanks ^^ I like your ideas, just one question: Wouldn't gyarados make my team Waaaay too physicly based and make bronzong and physical walls a problem???

i tested gyara but now I'm feeling a bit vulnerable too ape
