So, in my search to find amusement in the blob of vines that is Tangrowth, I thought of a new set. A specific role that only Tangrowth can fill. Its a variant of a standard subseed set that uses the pseudo-shuffle effect of subseeding to stun as many of the opponents pokemon as possible. Here it is:
TangBROwth @ Wide lense
Timid 252 spd 252 def 4 spdef
Chlorophyll
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Stun Spore
- Block
As you can see he has max speed. This is to get the subseeding process started. Here is how the usualy turn sequence goes. Switch in on something you resist or take little from. Then use stun spore. After stun spore you leech seed. Then sub stall them to death. The wide lense is important here because if you miss with a leech seed or stun spore it can disrupt your pattern. If you predict them switching use leech seed. Then sub up... etc. With this strat, not only will you probably do fair amounts of damage to their team, but you will scout a lot of their moves and stuff. Also, if a pokemon you really want dead switches in, you can use block to trap them. 1 block usualy assures critical damage from leech seed. After a while, you will have a few of their pokemon paralized and a few of their pokemon wounded to some extent. Also works well with rocks and spikes. Not toxic spikes though.
Even without block, the para+subseed strategy is devastating. Other notable pokemon you can do it with are Celebi (has access to twave, more balanced defences) and Jumpluff (faster, lower defenses, lower max hp for more leech recover %)
