Hello everyone, so one day i was bored and i decided to do a little challenge and build a team made from random pokemon. Now when i say that, im not playing magikarp against arceus or some stupid "the Garbodors" type challenge. I went to the Gen 7 OU stats page and found the mons that were between the most used and least used OU pokemon (meaning I had a chance of getting pokemon that aren't technically OU, but were used more that month then the least used OU pokemon that month, which was Blacephalon). It was a lot of fun but I would like some revisions to increase the synergy between these non-synergistic pokemons.
The Pokemon (i got)
Tapu Koko
Toxapex
Kyurem-Black
Serperior
Kommo-o
Skarmory
Team building process
At the sight of both skarmory and toxapex, my mind immediately thought Balance. With such a good defensive core, my offensive juggernauts could go to town, and with hazards provided by them, serperior could easily sweep late game. The Z-move was a tough, and still is a tough decision, so i gave it to Kyurem, as the power it has is down right menacing. Now taking away the z-move from Kommo-o seems rash, but I came across something that i felt was a satisfactory replacement. When thinking of a lead, i saw tapu koko as a good screens setter that could support an early game wall-breaker, where the 4 mon combo of toxapex, skarm, serp, and kyurem/kommo-o could last the rest of it. Thats when i came upon salac berry belly drum kommo-o under screens. This combo i feel worked for me enough to get me out of the lower rungs of the ladder, though I would definetly not go to a tournament with it because im sure it can be exploited very easily, most likely by clefable. That is why im still looking for new roles for certain mons.
The team (the mons i made)
Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Volt Switch
- Taunt
U-turn vs Volt switch is really up to the player, it's an early game screens setter that denies hazards from other mons, although to me it is completely useless after the first couple turns after screens are gone mainly because the defensive core doesn't require screens to be good pivots, for now, it works but I would like a better lead set if there is one.
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Toxic
- Haze
- Scald
I mean is there really anything to say. No, well then fine let's move on.
Kyurem-Black @ Icium Z
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Freeze Shock
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
Z-move or LB, this thing hits hard, as for Z-move or LB, i dont know so please lend some help.
Serperior @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Glare
- Defog
- Knock Off
Serperior being my late game cleaner with a scarf set is really nice, after spikes are set up or mons are chipped into range, this thing cleans house. and thats all there is to it really.
Kommo-o @ Salac Berry
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 52 HP / 204 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Belly Drum
- Substitute
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Punch
This with screens down is able to set up and break some stuff, its also nice that the thunder punch it has gets a terrain boost, breaking ghost types that attempt to wall it, just dont get too low in health, or u might drop into priority range from something like scizor bullet punch
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Toxic
maybe i should put defog on this thing, because serperior doesnt always get the job done, but it takes hits pretty well
i dont know how they make that little box thingy where they put the importable, so please spare me my lack of education
