Taunt is the focal point of this set, preventing some of Keldeo's checks such as Slowbro, Clefable, and Gastrodon from recovering or inflicting status. Scald is Keldeo's most useful move, allowing it to potentially spread burns. Secret Sword hits special walls such as Chansey, Heatran, and Assault Vest Tangrowth. Hydro Pump with Mystic Water provides immediate damage on targets such as Clefable, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos. Alternatively, Focus Blast with Black Belt can be used for damage on Volcanion, Gastrodon, and Rotom-W.
Set Details
========
This EV spread optimizes Keldeo's offensive capabilities, allowing it to hit as hard as possible while making the most of its great Speed tier. Mystic Water is preferred, as it empowers Keldeo's most spammable move: Scald. However, Black Belt with Focus Blast is also viable if the team needs it.
Usage Tips
========
Taunt Keldeo is best used as a hit-and-run attacker. Use Scald to weaken foes with potential burns and switch out. Use Taunt on a predicted recovery or status move. Be sure to avoid using Taunt on an offensive move such as Moonblast from Clefable. Once Keldeo's checks have been weakened by keeping them low with Taunt and possible entry hazards or burn, it can grab a KO or two. Keep Keldeo's health intact, as it can take on strong hits from full health from Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Bisharp, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Scizor even after a boost.
Team Options
========
Taunt Keldeo thrives on teams with Spikes, as it can use Taunt to keep them on the field and prevent Defog. It is also great on offense, as it can use its Speed tier and Taunt to prevent entry hazards from going up and keep defensive pivots at lower HP for its teammates. Another reason Keldeo is good on offense is because it can provide a solid check to many threats such as Mega Gyarados and Bisharp with no defensive investment. Pokemon that provide consistent hazard removal, such as Zapdos and Excadrill, are fundamental, as Keldeo without Leftovers can be worn down quickly.
