[OVERVIEW]
Tauros is a fast wallbreaker with completely unresisted coverage. Sheer Force and Life Orb make its STAB Body Slam nail walls like defensive Flygon and Mantine. It also has the coverage for Pokemon that take Body Slam, like Close Combat for Copperajah and Throat Chop for Decidueye. Moreover, its great Speed allows it to function as a revenge killer and cleaner once teams are weakened. Still, Tauros is frail, so it cannot afford to trade hits with targets that avoid a OHKO from it, let alone against faster attackers like Starmie and Choice Scarf Rotom-C. It needs positioning support and ample chip damage before it can safely KO threats like Dragalge and Tyrantrum, which makes it fall short as a reliable revenge killer for some teams. Tauros is also plagued by status from Talonflame and Vileplume and is unable to break through the bulkiest of physical walls, like Mudsdale.

Close Combat is Tauros's strongest attack versus Steel-types like Copperajah and Escavalier while also nailing Tyrantrum, Guzzlord, and Exploud. Throat Chop targets Ghost-types like Golurk and Dhelmise. Iron Head prevents physically defensive Fairy-types like Diancie and Sylveon from walling Tauros. To help in its role as a cleaner, Work Up is an option over Iron Head, although Tauros will then need more support wearing down the aforementioned Fairy-types.
Residual damage is a great way to support Tauros, as Pokemon like Tyrantrum and Drapion need to be worn down before they can be revenge killed. Entry hazard teammates like Copperajah, Diancie, and Garbodor help in this regard, with Copperajah also wearing down shared checks like Bronzong and Mudsdale, and Garbodor checking Fighting-types. U-turn Talonflame and Rocky Helmet Xatu are defensive pivots that also compound residual damage. Choice Scarf users like Flygon and Rotom-C target the threats faster than Tauros like Salazzle, Starmie, and Choice Scarf Passimian while also bringing Tauros in safely. Knock Off and Toxic support from Pokemon like Salazzle and Guzzlord wears down walls like Vaporeon and Mudsdale so they're unable to consistently switch into Tauros. For more pressure against physical walls, Tauros teams should fit special wallbreakers like Choice Specs Heliolisk and Decidueye, especially since they both can afford to switch into Scald and Strength Sap from Vaporeon and Vileplume.

Other Options
====
Zen Headbutt sometimes fits on Taurous over Iron Head to reliably revenge kill Fighting- and Poison-types. Earthquake hits Diancie and Arcanine on top of targeting Poison-types like Dragalge and Toxicroak, but Body Slam hits the latter two hard as is and Iron Head is able to OHKO Diancie. Fire Blast is another coverage option to 2HKO Escavalier and avoid Effect Spore from Vileplume, but these two walls are less popular than Diancie and Sylveon.
Checks and Counters
====
**Physical Walls**: Vaporeon, Mudsdale, Vileplume, and Arcanine outstall Tauros with their bulk and / or recovery. Talonflame outspeeds and threatens burn through Flame Body and Will-O-Wisp.
**Bulky Attackers**: Without a guaranteed KO, Tauros will have hard time dealing with bulky attackers that are able to OHKO it back like Dragalge, Tyrantrum, Sirfetch'd, Machamp, and Escavalier. However, when these threats take entry hazard damage and possibly Defense drops from Close Combat, Tauros is more likely to beat them.
**Revenge Killers**: Once Tauros is worn down, faster Pokemon like Salazzle and Starmie and priority users like Sirfetch'd are able to revenge kill it. This also applies to fast pivots like Choice Scarf Flygon and Rotom-C, which are able to chip Tauros down themselves with U-turn and Volt Switch.
