Well, hello everyone. This would be my first post, first RMT, and my introduction. I basically found this site and decided to try competitive pokemon and yadda ya.
I have been lurking for a few months, read every single strategy dex, smog article, ect so I completely understand everything. I tried tons of teams, all were ok, but after I moved up a few steps in the ladder, I needed a really good team. Anything is up for a change.
The point of this team is offense, and to for me to avoid using Heatran, Tyranitar, and Scizor, which all of my previous attempted teams had.
The Apple is just for a theme, and random. This team has been very successful.

Empoleon (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 36 HP/80 Atk/36 Def/108 Spe/ 252 SpAtk
Rash nature (+SpAtk, -SpDef)
- Aqua Jet
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Stealth Rock
Alright, Empoleon starts it off. The basic strategy is to be an anti lead, and stealth rock in the process. This is not necessarily a suicide lead, as my goal is to stop stealth rock and the other lead, not set up the rocks and die.
Moves:
Aqua Jet/Surf: I used to run hydro pump, but I would lose so many times (more than 20% for certain) because of the crummy accuracy. Surf loses 37.5 base power, and I have to run a neutral attack nature and some attack EVs to make up for it, but I think it is worth it.
Stealth Rock: is stealth rock. One of the best moves in the game, all teams should have.
Grass Knot: I chose this over ice beam for Swampert and that is all.
EVs: They follow a simple logic: Sacrifice power of Hydro Pump and invest in attack to cover the power. The speed is for Metagross and Swampert.
Strategy:
Azelf:
1. Attack while it wastes a turn taunting or stealth rock or whatever.
2. Finish with aqua jet.
(if it u-turns, I am in trouble, as it sends it something to set up on me.)
Metagross:
1. I SR.
2. If it earthquakes, I am in torrent range and can Ko with surf +aqua jet. Then they can KO me or lose SR.
Aerodactyl:
1. Surf. Aqua Jet.
Infernape:
1. Switch to Rotom, who takes the fake out/close combat.
2. HP Ground. (maybe to nail a heatran)
Swampert:
1. Grass Knot. End of Story.
Synergy:
Electric: Latias. Rotom.
Ground: Latias. Salamence. Rotom.
Fighting: Rotom. Latias. Salamence.
....
Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP/248 Atk/12 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
- Dynamic Punch
- Payback/Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
Needed status absorber, powerhouse, bulky tank, ect. I am surprised this thing isn't so common, as it is incredibly hard to deal with and has few safe switch ins.
Moves:
Dynamic Punch: I feel bad for people who have to deal with Dynamic Punch. 150 Base Power move that confuses and has no drawback and always hits, that is just "outta here."
Payback: I used Stone Edge, but I like the coverage against rotom with payback.
Restalk: I needed a status absorber badly. Mac here is perfect for this.
EVs: Almost max hp and Atk for bulk and power, a little taken out to outrun others.
Synergy:
Flying: Metagross. Rotom. Empoleon.
Psychic: Empoleon. Latias. Metagross.
....
Rotom-Heat (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spe/252 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Overheat/Will-o-wisp
- Thunderbolt
- Trick/HP Ground
- Shadow Ball
I cannot survive without this dude. He can take out the biggest threats to my team: Scizor, Lucario, Heatran, and Gyarados. However, he is easily switched in on by Heatran, Blissey, and Gliscor, but those are easily covered by the team of my team. I can mess them up with the right move on the switch though.
Moves:
Overheat: Overheat is good and bad. It allows me to destroy lucario and scizor, but I become choice locked settup fodder. Will-o-wisp works well with trick, but I need residual damage to beat the two.
Thunderbolt: Powerful, but I might consider discharge for the paralysis.
HP Ground: Deals with Heatran and others not covered by the other attacks, such as electric types, rock types, steel types.
Shadow Ball: Kind of a filler, as thunderbolt hits gengar well enough.
Using trick now, as I can screw up blissey, lock calm minders, and switch moves lategame.
EVs: Standard choice, max power and speed.
Synergy:
Ghost: Empoleon
Dark: Empoleon, Machamp
....
Salamence (M) @ Life orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Naive nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Flamethrower/Earthquake
- Outrage
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Dance
Salamence is really quite powerful. After I get a dragon dance, outrage basically 2HKOs anything that is not steel. The only problem is that Weavile just walks in and KOs with ice shard, but it isn't too common. Other than that, Sal is just a monster.
Moves:
Flamethrower: Any fire move, I like flamethrower the most, I don't think the extra power Fire blast is too unreliable. might use earthquake, to hit heatran.
Outrage: Main sweeping move. destroys non-resistors.
Draco Meteor: Surprises things that see a dragon dance. This allows me to dance, KO something like a weak swampert, and sweep. I lose to heatran, but rotom lures it with HP ground and it won't survive long taking draco meteors and SR.
Dragon Dance After one of these (which are pretty easy to get with dragon typing) Sal is very difficult to take down.
EVs: Full power and speed to out speed as much as possible. I like life orb to deal with the extra damage.
Synergy:
Dragon: Metagross. Empoleon.
Rock: Metagross. Empoleon. Machamp.
Ice: Empoleon. Metagross.
....
Metagross (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear body
EVs: 58 HP/252 Atk/200 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
- Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- ThunderPunch/Zen headbut(t)
Agiligross is just too good. Priority moves don't scratch him, and he has simply annihilates everything in his path. He also covers Salamence perfectly, and vice versa.
Moves:
Agility: This is what sets the bad boy up.
Meteor Mash: Just a powerful attack, the accuracy is a letdown though.
Earthquake: Again, a great move...
Thunderpunch: Takes out gyrados, stalling waters, and birds. Zenheadbut can beat a weakened swampert or rotom easily and also flinch hax.
Synergy:
Fire: Salamence. Latias.
Ground: Salamence. Latias. Rotom.
EVs: Max attack, adamant nature, but a little more speed for the heck of it. I think jolly allows me to beat flygon? Is it worth it?
....
Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Timid nature (-Atk, +Spe)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
Latias is awesome. Simple as that. Despite that and her annoying psychic side type, Latias can be very powerful with both movesets, but I don't know which one to use. I already have Rotom with a scarf, but tricking blissey is just too fun... Rotom does well to show tyranitars so I can spam draco meteor.
Moves:
Draco Meteor- Powerful. So powerful with specs.
Surf- Great move. Great coverage.
thunderbolt- Like surf.
Trick- Completely stops things like blissey or stallers.
EVs: Full offense.
Synergy:
Ice: Metagross. Empoleon.
Dragon: Empoleon. Metagross.
Dark: Machamp. Empoleon.
Ghost: Empoleon
Bug: Machamp. Rotom. Empoleon. Salamence.

Well there you have it. Since I am generally a beginner, much help with fixing the flaws would be nice.
Problems: +1 DDmence and latias are troublesome and I have to lose something to take them down. I might consider a steel of machamp for this reason (scizor?)
Thanks for reading :)
