Intro
Quite new to this metagame and this is my first competitive team. After making some gimmicky practice teams and playing around with megas, the metagame seems to be a lot of walbreaking and hyper offense. Now to counter this is the StatusTurn team comes to play.
Lead:
Landorus (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Basic Landorus-T set I used to run in BW2. Rocks is a must to cripple the annoyingly overused Talonflame and it is for extra damage to wear my opponents team down. His U-Turn is a must of course letting me gain moment and hit and run like a truck on leads like Deoxys-S/D and Celebi. Earthquake is helpful for strong STAB damage and Hp ice for unsuspecting dragon types. His ability and EVs make him a Defensive monster, but the nature makes him weak to SpA which is easily accounted for by the rest of the team.
Core:
Heatran (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Protect
The crippler over the team. Has the ability to dish burns with plumes 30% chance and also layout toxics to the unexpected. The bulk of this Heatran makes it a perfect special wall and and average physical wall. Roar is the main move for this one, phasing out all those who predict a switch so they have the free turn to setup, leaving another of their Pokemon to take damage from rocks if its up. Flame Body was an idea, but with plume it feels almost redundant so the flash fire boost for extra damage is a plus.
Venusaur (F) @ Venusaurite
Trait: Chlorophyll, Thick Fat (After Mega Evolution)
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Synthesis
- Sleep Powder
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
Looking at the amazing bulk that Mega Venusaur boasts, I knew this Pokemon was perfect for my core. After Mega evolving this thing becomes and almost impenetrable tank. Amazing duel grass-poison typing means this gen not only can this stop toxic damage, but also it isn't affected by spore and powder moves only worrying about 3 other statuses. Venusaur is also blessed with thick fact after mega evolving giving it only 2 weaknesses ideally. Synthesis and Giga Drain allow Venusaur to gain the HP he would if it were running a lefties. Sleep Powder is perfect for putting irritating Pokemon to sleep and Sludge Bomb helps take out other grass and fairy types. This thing easily deals with Belly Drum Azumarill as it just soaks up its hits.
Rotom (Rotom-W) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
To round out the core Rotom-W is the perfect candidate. With only 1 weakness with levitate this thing takes a massive amount of hits. Pain Split is a great way for Rotom to gain lost HP especially with that stat being an abysmal 50. Will-O-Wisp cuts down the attack of physical Pokemon, letting Rotom not fear any of their hits and it is great for wearing down my opponent. Hydro Pump is a necessary STAB move and Rotom-W's base 105 SpA makes it worthwhile. Volt Switch is great in conjunction with Landorus-T's U-Turn, wearing the opponent down and putting moment in my favor.
Support:
Florges (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Aromatherapy
- Protect
- Moonblast
With this team support is a must and seeing as it was Gen 6, I needed a Gen 6 that would aid me. At first this was Sylveon, but it couldn't cut it, it was not as bulky and quick as I needed it to be. Now Florges has a average HP stat with rubbish Def, but her Goddess SpD makes up for that. Its SpD is so high, any more investment is just overkill, so throwing everything into HP and Def is even more easy. This thing is a great Wish passer and with Aromatherapy it can get rid of any unwanted statuses for my team. Protect is so it can gain its own Wish and and so leftovers recovery. Moonblast is just to dish out any damage as her amazing base 112 SpA is just perfect.
Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Defog
- Swords Dance
Scizor is just great to round the team together. It has Defog this Gen to wipe out all hazards for me and STAB Bullet Punches and U-Turns are great for smashing through walls. Its a pretty basic set other than Defog, it helps cleaning up any unwanted Pokemon. This works especially well with Florges too as it can tank incoming Steel/Poison attacks and in return Florges eats up any incoming fire moves.
That's it! Please, I'm open to any suggestions as I will take all into consideration and test them out. Thanks for reading it all, cya!
