Ok I know you guys must be tired of the constant use of weather teams across the competitive pokemon battlefield, well I know I am, but it seems that i am not good at anything else when battling. This will be my first ever RMT on Smogon, and I am proud to say that this is one of my proudest pieces of work. I tried to base this team around great pokemon Synergy. I tried to cover most weaknesses a pokemon could have, from the danger of a fire blast against Jirachi, to knowing that one mach punch from a Conkeldurr would knock Chansey into a coma.

I will be posting threats, changes and such later on, I will also give credit to those that name the threats, and offer the changes. Now onto the RMT, enjoy. :D

Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Recover

Gastrodon is the newest edition to my team. It usually used on my team to protect my politoed, and Starmie from the dangers of the electric types, then it is to take the pain from other water types going against Gliscor, and others. scald is there for the stab, and the attack boost it gets from the rain. Its 30% chance for a burn is just a bonus in my own opinion. Earthquake is there for the steel types to play with, and electrics. Its got good coverage in the whole matter, and what it doesn't cover, my other pokemon can take care of. Toxic is there for when I foresee a switch coming, it will allow me to get a status inflection in, and i'll just switch in the next turn. Recover is also on this set just in the case that I feel like a have a turn to spare.
WSC42-1.png

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Taunt

You know that chill down your spine when something is creeping up on you? Gliscor is that feeling. He comes in from the middle of the night and eats your cookies. Gliscor is my baby, I know that my set doesn't have good coverage, but it does work. Swords dance is for the boost in power, it can be the deciding factor in any battle. I usually just use it in case I know they are gonna switch, but by then, its probably too late, if they bring in a pokemon I know can take down it, I switch, What I switch to all depends on what the opponent brings out. Earthquake is there for the stab, which it always brings a lot of coverage to the field. Facade is there for the power up it gets. with the poison I get from toxic orb, it lands me an double powered move. Taunt covers pokemon that try to make things difficult, boosters, skarms trying to whirlwind me out, you know those problems.

Edit:Why: I choce to go with Ice fang because of its chance of freezing, or flinch. I'm leaving Taunt on there because of that it willl slow down the pokemon who need a boost. It would give me a chance to attack or Swords dance. I took out Facade for testing, plus with the bonus I posted above it gives more variety.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaveryweirdchansey.png

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Wish
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

Chansey is beast. There is nothing like seeing a focus blast do less then 25% damage to this bad boy on the field. It is almost unstoppable. Wish is there for the hp it needs recovered because well, even Chuck Norris gets tired after getting punched so many times. Protect is there so wish can take its effect, it allows me to get the hp back for it, and if I dont like the move the user is using, I wish again and switch to something that can take it. Seismic Toss is there for the fact that I need an attacking move, but I doubt that it will much good. Dont get me wrong it has gotten me out of some jams. Toxic is there bring some status problems to the field, because I very well doubt Seismic Toss can take down a huge defensive pokemon.
Edit:This set I have some doubts about, yes getting a Stealth Rock is important, but protecting Chansey could be the only thing could decide a battle, I'll keep an update about this until further notice.

212.gif

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower

Ok, before I describe this pokemon I gotta say this, it should be dark blue instead of Red, it would look way cooler then it does now. Scizor is used on my team to take down those pesky pokemon that need a little.... motivation to go away. Pursuit is there for the espeon, gengar, and that weird cell pokemon, even that weird Mr. Pringles, Jellicent. Bullet punch is pretty strong for having an power of 40, i guess Technician, and choice band add to it a little. It can take down a Salamence with ease, and can take down a dragonite with 2hkos. The stab it gets is also a very helpful feature it gives off.U-turn is there for the pokemon I need to take down, and get a switch in at the same time, grass, psychic, ghost types, all those big baddies.Superpower is there to take down rock, steel, ice, ground, dark, and anything else I don't like. The stat fall it gives after playing doesn't really matter since I'll be switching afterward.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Recover
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Thunderbolt

Starmie is all around awesome, its massive speed it gives off can terrorize pokemon to no limits. I run Life Orb Starmie because it has recover, it can usually stand the pain, and give it right back. Surf is there for the stab it gives off, and the boost it gets in the rain. It can be a deciding factor in a battle. Rapid spin is there to get rid of spikes, stealth rocks. Thunderbolt is there to take down other water types, and the flying types.

Politoed (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [grass]
- Ice Beam

Politoed may be the most important pokemon on this team, it sends out drizzle, and gives the power boost to Its own, and Starmie's water moves. Focus blast is there to take care of any pokemon I dont feel like switching out on. Ferrothorn, Tyranitar, and others. Hidden power grass is to take care of other water types such as Jellicent, other Politoeds, and suicune, It also helps against Gastrodon, in which I dont have much defence for. Ice Beam is there for the grass types, dragon, flying, etc.

Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect

EVs: 112 Atk / 140 Def / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- ThunderPunch
- Wish
- Drain Punch
- Iron Head
Reason: Ice Punch over Thunder Punch, more coverage over pokemon, dragon, grass, flying.

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Taunt
Reason: Ice Fang over Facade, yes it has 140 power with Gliscor being posioned, but Ice Fang will help bring more choices to the game.

Hi there, its a good start for your first RMT on smogon, so welcome. I'll start with the nitpicks first then move onto larger changes. If you're running choice scarf on politoed, you will need to be using a Timid nature. I see you're using Surf over Hydro pump on both starmie and politoed so i'd suggest changing this for more power, but its more of a preference thing so thats up to you. Next i'd suggest Leftovers over life orb on starmie for extra survivability when spinning and attacking, you don't want to be using rapid spin on a ferrothorn with rocky helmet and then lose half your hp. Next, your team is lacking stealth rock yet you have many viable members to set it up: Chansey/jirachi.

On jirachi i'm not sure whats going on with that set if i'm honest but it could be used more efficiently to abuse the rain and serene grace... using thunder over thunderpunch and making it into a calm mind set:

Jirachi@Leftovers
Serene Grace, Timid nature
252spe,252spa,4hp
-substitute
-calm mind
-thunder
-psyshock/water pulse/flash cannon

A moveslot should definitely be removed on Chansey for stealth rock, possibly seismic toss or protect.

Lastly, the rain doesn't help greatly with gliscors water weakness, and every rain team needs a bulky grass type on the team. I'd suggest Nasty plot celebi

Celebi@leftovers
Natural cure, modest nature
252spa/200spe/56hp
-nasty plot
-giga drain
-earth power
-psychic

good luck

i dont think that max special Def is a good idea on chansey there are almost no special attacks that can hit this thing anyway but without the def investment you are even more vulnerable to powerful neutral hit on the physical side i would use bold and max def

Yeah, thanks to both of you, I was having trouble coming up with a Jirachi set that would work, even though it is a great pokemon I was thinking about taking it out for something that could wall defensive attacks. I was planning on leaving Chanseys set as it is, I mean, its a great pokemon, it can wall the power of both Politoeds, and Ninetales which are one of the two biggest pokemon I'll be battling against. The life Orb on Starmie is there for its support, and if I do run into a Ferrothorn, I'll just use My politoed with its focus blast. I'm keeping Chanseys set as it is now, Protect gives me an extra turn to think, its also good after a Wish.

Edits:
Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

- Taunt
Why: I choce to go with Ice fang because of its chance of freezing, or flinch. I'm leaving Taunt on there because of that it willl slow down the pokemon who need a boost. It would give me a chance to attack or Swords dance.

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Wish
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss
This set I have some doubts about, yes getting a Stealth Rock is important, but protecting Chansey could be the only thing could decide a battle, I'll keep an update about this until further notice.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 112 Atk / 140 Def / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Wish
- Drain Punch
- Iron Head
I took out thunder punch, and changed it over to Ice punch, for its cover over Grass, flying, and dragon types, I don't know why I chose Thunder Punch over it, but I think that it will be more productive then it.

Rate and comment on the changes, thank you. :D

Hey there.

Volt-Turn can really cause your team problems. Nothing on your team can defeat both Rotom-W and Scizor, so this common tactic will cause you a world of pain. Jirachi is easily the most replaceable member of your team, as it really isn't doing much, so I suggest that you replace it with a Gastrodon. Gastrodon completely walls most variants of Rotom-W, and can take Scizor's U-Turn and Recover off the damage. Gastrodon will also lighten the load Chansey has to carry.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Relaxed nature
-Scald
-Earthquake
-Toxic
-Recover

Maximum defensive investment works well with your team, allowing Gastrodon to work well with both Gliscor and Chansey. Storm Drain still lets it destroy Water-types. Earthquake with a Relaxed nature is used to defeat threats such as Tentacruel and Calm Mind Jirachi; CM Jirachi can also sweep your team with Water Pulse + Thunder if it gets lucky (which it has a high chance of being thanks to Serene Grace) vs. Chansey.

Also, run Softboiled over Wish on Chansey. Wish only works well in tandem with Protect, but Stealth Rock is necessary for your team, so Softboiled is the better option. Also, definitely run Thunder over Thunderbolt on Starmie. It is a much stronger option, and has 100% accuracy in rain.

Solid team. Hope I helped, and good luck!

Thank you, but I believe that I will keep The Set Chansey has now, but that is a good option for Gastrodon, it would help my team alot, I'll do a few tests using gastrodon, and decide if I should make it a permanent member of the team. :)

Run Softboiled on Chansey. This should almost be manditory, especially without Protect.

You're team's fairly weak to Scarf Terrakion, as Close Combat molests Chansey, X-Scissor does in Starmie, and Politoed will not be liking a Stone Edge to the face. If it's on a scrub's team too, seeing that people like that run Earthquake, it also endangers Jirachi. Of course Scizor can check it, but if locked into Pursuit, it can't do much at all. Because you're going to be up to your ass in Special attack, why not run a Golurk over Jirachi? Just because it currently sits in RU doesn't make it a bad choice, as Golurk is one of the few Pokemon able to easily set up a SubPunch set on Terrakion, and beat out Pokemon like Blissey, that would otherwise all this set to no end. It can also help Spinblock, maintaining the presence of Stealth rock in your favour.

On that note, this team is not going to be liking Scizor much, especially the faster variants, like SD Scizor or Scarf Scizor, which I'll argue to the gates of hell and back is a much better set than CB, who will easily U-Turn and Superpower on your Pokemon. This is why I suggest Magnezone over Gliscor, and if said Gliscor does get changed to Gastrodon, over Chansey. You will lose out on a ton of easy switch-ins, but the only thing Chansey's really doing for this team is getting Stealth Rock up, which you're already considering removing. This allows you to plough through Pokemon like Skarmory that would wall Scizor and Golurk, while allowing you to use Substitute and Charge Beam to set up on Scizor and/or opposing Jirachi.

Golurk > Jirachi
Magnezone > Gliscor / Chansey

Golurk | Leftovers
Iron Fist | Adamant Nature
252 HP | 252 Atk | 4 Def
Substitute | Focus Punch | Earthquake | Toxic / Stone Edge / Shadow Punch

Magnezone | Leftovers
Magnet Pull | Timid Nature
36 HP | 252 SpA | 220 Spe
Substitute | Charge Beam | Flash Cannon | Thunder / Hidden Power [Ice]

Move choice-wise, Toxic provides Golurk a way to beat out most bulky Water-Type Pokemon. It's mainly intending to help bring down Vaporeon, but with your own Rain on the field, won't be working much. Stone Edge creates the infamous QuakeEdge combination, granting a much wider range of OHKOs and 2HKOs, namely against Pokemon like Dragonite and Tornadus. Shadow Punch is Golurk's other STAB, and in tandem with Iron Fist and Focus Punch, creates a boosted and perfectly rounded neutral coverage on Golurk. For Magnezone, the toss up is whether you want it to abuse your weather with Thunder, or pick off pesky Flying, Dragon, and Grass-Type Pokemon that would normally give you trouble.

Nice looking team. Hope all this was helpful in one way or another.

Great RMT! I used to love rain teams, but they now they seem to be a hassle so i don't use them anymore. However, i'll give you some tips from my previous experiences to help you.
First of all, replace chansey with VAPOREON. Here's the set:
Vaporeon @ leftovers
Ability: hydration
Bold nature
244 hp, 252 def, 8 spe.
Wish
Rest
Scald
Roar
In the rain, hydration heals vaporeon of any and all status at the end of each turn. This allows for infinite recovery in rest, and will annoy the heck out of your opponent. Wish is to pass 200+ hp'd recovery to your pokemates. Scald is STAB of choice, and roar is so you can phaze and switch out pokes you don't like.
Now, with chansey gone, you'll be missing some important hazards. I suggest replacing starmie with TENTACRUEL. here's the set:
Tentacruel @ black sludge
Ability: rain dish
Bold nature
252 hp, 16 spe, 240 def
Scald
Toxic spikes
Rapid spin
Rain dish+liquid ooze heals 3/16 of your hp every turn. With greater defenses and a better ability, tentacruel is more suit for your team than starmie. Tenta absorbs TS on the way in, and can also spin away hazards, without having to worry about too much hp loss from iron barbs. Tenta can also lay down its own TS, helping your team further.
Those are some suggestions i have. I hope you find them useful. Good luck!
Protect

You got a really solid team there pal, but I do fare on switching into Fighting-type pokemons. Well predicted attacks from pokemon like Terrakion will definitely tear your team apart, like OHKO´ing Starmie with X-Scissor. To make it worse, a +2 Lucario will OHKO Starmie with Extremespeed, which it is not difficult to set-up in Chansey. Also Starmie is not really well suited on your team considering that it is a semi-stall that needs all of its team members to function properly. Ferrothorn is also a problem rain teams need to deal with, since Starmie is not going to come into Ferrothorn and spin away his hazards, and if it does it will die in the process. I agree with eliteoctoomba195040 and suggest to replace Starmie for Rain Dish Tentacruel.

073.gif

Tentacruel (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Protect
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes / Toxic

Tentacruel fits better in your team by being a more reliable pokemon to take Terrakion in combination with Gastrodon & Gliscor. Tentacruel walls Lucario and 2HKOs with Scald in the rain potentially burning Lucario; also consider Extremespeed/Crunch deal 57.7% - 68.1% (With the help of Protect + Rain Dish you can avoid the 2HKO). Tentacruel also removes Toxic Spikes from the field considering that if Starmie dies or is not able to spin hazards, they can cripple your team seriously. Tentacruel does not really cares rapid spinning into Ferrothorn thanks to Rain Dish + Protect + Black Sludge recovering 3/16 of its HP every turn without worrying of Iron Barbs. To add more, Ghost-types are not real issues for Tentacruel to spin-off hazards considering that Gengar cant defeat Tentacruel, Jellicent gets crippled with your own Toxic Spikes or Toxic, and Sableye isnt doing shit.

My other suggestion would be to use a Timid nature on Politoed, instead of Modest. With a Timid nature, Politoed outspeeds Adamant Dragonite even at +1 and KO with Ice Beam after Stealth Rock.

Also, run Softboiled over Wish on Chansey.
I pretty much back-up what ShakeItUp recomended. Stealth Rock is a must on almost every team and Softboiled is definitely the best choice to run with Chansey if you are using Stealth Rock. With Tentacruel there is no need to scout with Chansey, also considering that Tentacruel´s Black Sludge will cripple the Trick user and it reaches a decent stat of 352 Speed with a Scarf.

I hope my suggestions helped :].

Protect
Well, if I used Vaporeon He is gonna be weak to electric and grass type moves, where Chansey is neutral all around. Its own problem is pokemon like conkeldurr, or terrakoin. and I know that it is a problem.

Starmie is my rapid spinner, and is a very valuable asset to my team, I can't really see myself switching it for anything else. Its my main defence against fighting types, right beside gliscor. and also Tentacruel doesn't have enough firepower imo to get hardcore if its a last stretch of pokemon. I dont like to feel like a have a liability on my team, and it just covers more pokemon better, but I will try Tentacruel for awhile to see if it works with me a little better.

Also, I can't really seem to agree with the softboiled on chansey, I like the idea of having a chance to bring the hp back up on one of my other pokemon. So I am asking that if somebody could find another pokemon on my team that stealth rock can go to on my team, it would help me out alot, that way chansey could get protect back in its slot, and still have entry hazzards.

Another suggestion: use specially defensice mixed jirachi like you used to instead of chansey. Here's the set:
Jirachi @ leftovers
Ability: calm
252 hp, 224 def, 32 spe
Wish
SR
water pulse
Thunder
This parafusion set works wonders in the rain. Thunder and WP have a 60% chance to para and confuse, respectively. Wish heals pokemates, and SR takes care of your hazards problem.
Please excuse me if i have the nature wrong, but it's supposed to lower attack and boost sp def/def.
Also, i meant to put protect in with tenta's movepool. My computer glitched, i have no idea what happened.
Hope this helps!
