Introduction

This team started from myself and a bunch of friends sitting around a computer, trading off control and switching one Pokemon on the team each time we lost. Banded Dragonite, Scarfed Kyurem B, and Nidoking are all from the original team, while the others were added to fill weaknesses in the team we noticed. We're currently at about 1700, but we plan to ladder again next weekend, and probably bring the team up to 1800.

dragonite.gif

Nani (Dragonite) @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed
Banded Dragonite takes chunks out of virtually everything with outrage, has some good coverage moves, and priority spam. This is our typical lead, because nothing is more satisfying than fire punching a lead Mega-Scizor that thinks it can U-turn out. Multiscale lets it go out first against almost any other lead, and hit them for big damage. It also serves as a late game sweeper against a lot of teams. Saving a multiscale until late game means that it can come in and get an outrage off guaranteed, and extreme speed spam is extremely solid to finish off games, and stop boosted attackers. Earthquake is mostly for Heatran, though its also a safe attack for when we can't risk outrage, and don't want to take rocky helmet damage. It has just enough speed to speedcreep the standard Rotom-W set that's so common in OU right now, so that outrage can two hit KO it on the switch in and escape a burn.

kyurem-black.gif

Notmi (Kyurem-Black) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Outrage
- Earth Power
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
Easily the heaviest hitter on the team, no one respects Scarf Kyurem B. Most games are won by clearing out the other teams' checks to Kyurem, then outrage spamming them to death. Max speed and attack are obvious, because its job is to clean up the remains of the other team once the outrage immunities and resists are gone. Ice beam and fusion bolt are there for when something needs to die, but we can't risk an outrage. Earth Power is mostly for Heatran.

clefable.gif

Azrael (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
Clefable, otherwise known as forfeit city, is the main wall on this team. It switches in on outrages, just tanks a lot of hits in general, and absorbs burns. Thunder wave can stop sweeps in their tracks, and half of the lower ladder will surrender as soon as Clefable calm minds. It has the potential to be a one pokemon sweep, because some teams just don't have a Clefable counter, and thunder wave lets it beat Pokemon that should counter it anyway.

scizor-mega.gif

Divider (Scizor) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
Mega Scizor is one of the best Megas in OU right now, and helps fill in a lot of gaps in this team. Lots of bulk, because it's most often used as a defensive pivot and hazard clearer, though U-turn and the priority attack do come in handy. It's our main check to fairies, and helps clear the way for the dragons to destroy the other team. We miss SD at times, but roost and defog are too important. Sometimes clearing the rocks away so Dragonite can come in with multiscale intact is the difference between winning or losing, and roost lets Scizor survive to continue being one of our only pivots.

keldeo.gif

Fishy (Keldeo) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind
Specs Keldeo hits so hard against so many Pokemon. Scald is very possibly the best move in the game right now, because it hits hard, and burns can absolutely cripple pokemon that should tear through keldeo, and pose a problem for the rest of the team. Secret sword for coverage, and hydro pump for hitting just that little bit harder. Icy Wind is for the people that think hard switching Lati into Keldeo is a good idea. More often than not, Keldeo is being brought in to take a hit, and force a switch, which means that it can scald for free, which is always a good thing.

nidoking.gif

Ender (Nidoking) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
Bring a Pokemon that can 1v1 clefable, or don't play in OU. Life Orb Nidoking forces clefable out every time, hits fairies with sludge wave, and the rest of its moves give it a lot of coverage. Very few things can switch into it safely, and correctly predicting the switch and hitting with a super effective attack wins games. It's also the team's main balance breaker, because it has so much coverage to hit them.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a pretty solid team. It handles most threats on low ladder extremely easily, and can keep up with the higher ladder as well. Kyurem and Dragonite are the MVPs here, both for being the obvious sweepers, and for constantly getting kills from people who underestimate them. Nidoking almost became a Specs Magnezone to deal with Skarmory and Scizor, but Nidoking works better overall. Bulky Mew is a major issue for this team, and if they play well with it, we basically autolose.

Yes, I know that there's no rocks, but in testing, it was never worth it. We want to be firing off an attack every turn, keeping up momentum, and punishing their supposedly safe switch ins. Rocks are powerful, but we're more likely to be punishing them for trying to set up rocks than we are to set them up ourselves, and we just couldn't find room for it.

We welcome any feedback, and we'll probably test it out on our next laddering session next weekend.

Pretty good team, atm i still cant find much to change or any problem with the team other than mega Metagross but then again you have scizor.Good team bro :)

Hi. Nice team you have got.

Looking at your team, I honestly think that it is more of a Bulky Offense team than a Hyper Offense one. As such, I'll make changes that better suit this aspect.

These are some threats I noticed:
  • Keldeo - you have switch-ins but they can't come in consistently
  • BirdSpam - literally 0 resists
  • Mega Medicham - 0 switch-ins
  • Sand Offense - no counter-measure
You also have no Rocks on your team, which is an issue. Rocks by itself constrain many teams and strategies with its ability to deal up to 50% damage on mons switching in, making it a must-have on every serious team.

Therefore, I shall work on these threats.

Here are some suggestions:

landorus-therian.png
PhysDef Lando-T > Nidoking
nidoking.png

While these 2 mons perform different roles, Lando-T's is a lot more valuable to your team. Nidoking functions as a Balance breaker, coming in on things like Clefable and dishing out lots of damage on your opponent's team. In contrast, PhysDef Lando-T is a nice pivot into many Physical Attackers in the tier. Without Nidoking, your team still doesn't struggle against Balance, with mons like Clef and MScizor to deal with it, slowly but surely. In contrast, Lando-T is really important to your team. Revisiting the threatlist up there, you would notice that PhysDef Lando-T mitigates your weaknesses to BirdSpam, MMedicham and Sand Offense, while being able to carry Rocks. In addition, Lando-T forms a VoltTurn core with MScizor, letting you gradually wear your opponent down. In summary, Lando-T significantly helps your team against many previous threats and therefore is a more useful choice than Nidoking.

latios.png
Latios > Dragonite
dragonite.png

While Dragonite is part of your Dragon spam core of Dragonite and KyuB to wear down your opponent for an Outrage sweep/clean, Latios is definitely more important than Dragonite in your team. What Latios gives you is a decently reliable Water resist and a more suitable Defogger. In addition, it gives your team a strong Special Attacker, something that your team lacks after the replacement of Nidoking. With Latios, you can now switch into Keldeo's Scalds and heal off the damage with Recover. You don't lose much with this change too, with the only loss being the Physical firepower and priority that Banded Dragonite provides. The good thing is: my next change alleviates this problem to a certain extent.

scizor-mega.png
Swords Dance > Defog
Now that you have Defog on Latios, you can afford to run SD on this mon. With this change, you now have another win-con in your team, increasing the Physical firepower you lost after the removal of Dragonite, all with zero downsides. U-Turn with SD might seem weird, but the idea of this set is to slowly wear down your opponent by U-Turning around, SDing up and cleaning with Bullet Punch when the time is ripe. With Nidoking gone, your team struggles more against Clefable too, which this change thoroughly fixes.

Here are the sets:
Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Recover
- Defog

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
That's it for my rate. Hope I helped, thanks for reading and have a nice day! n_n

Thanks for the compliment. You should try the team out, it's pretty fun.

Thanks for the feedback.

We'll definitely consider Lando over Nido. It was something we'd been considering before, but nido's direct power and ability to force out fairies makes it a really important part of the team, considering the two dragons. It also gives us a much better match up against the bulky balance teams out there, like Mew+Mega Venusaur and such. It would be nice to have some checks to birdspam. Right now, we basically have to kill the fairy and hope our dragons can pull in the game with outrage spam. Rocks are also nice, but not actually necessary on a team with this much offensive power.

Latios, on the other hand, probably won't be switched in for dragonite. Dragonite really holds the team together, and pulls the most weight in general, despite being a pretty one dimensional Pokemon.
