This XY Battle Spot Doubles team is centered around the weather effect Rain. Utilizing Dry Skin and Surf combos as well as strong utility to sustain and damage the enemy consistently throughout the fight.
Toxicroak @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Quick Guard
- Drain Punch
- Bullet Punch
Toxicroak serves as a strong lead with access to Quick Guard and Fake Out for utility, and Bullet Punch and Drain Punch for damage. In Rain he recovers 3/16 of his max hp back a turn. Add Drain Punch to that and couple him with a Surf user and his health regained each turn reaches monstrous levels.
Klefki @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
- Foul Play
Klefki can set up Dual Screens to patch up the team's lack of defensive bulk. With Thunder Wave, Klefki can drop the opponents speed so that his partner can take them out quickly before they can deal any major damage. Foul Play allows Klefki to put a halt to any Choice Band or Swords Dance users, hitting Aegislash in Sword Form like a truck.
Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Parabolic Charge
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Protect
Heliolisk is another Dry Skin user. With access to Thunder he can function in the rain exceptionally well, paralyzing threats that outspeed him. Parabolic Charge is great for multi target damage and healing, but due to hitting allies the rest of the team must run protect or be forced to switch out. Having a strong electric type on the team is an asset to this team, as it enables it to be able to take out other strong rain teams.
Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SDef
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Protect
Politoed is pretty standard on a rain team, especially one without a Rain Dance user. With Surf and Ice Beam Politoed can take out threats while bringing the rain with him. Surf also heals the allies with Dry Skin while dealing STAB Rain boosted damage to the enemy. Toxic adds a little more status to the team while complementing the Protects from other team-members to stall.
Scizor @ Occa Berry
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance
- Protect
Scizor is great on a rain team due to his sole fire weakness. Occa Berry further reduces damage from fire type attacks, helping him out even further. Scizor gets priority with Bullet Punch and raw damage with X-Scissor. Swords Dance allows Scizor to boost up and hit harder than ever. Protect is a staple, even with the Rain and Occa berry, for the occasional surprise fire type move.
Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Protect
Mega Gyarados can destroy with this set, hitting most Pokemon hard. DD and Protect allows Gyarados set up potential and Waterfall and Earthquake provide raw damage. Standard set, but works amazingly.
Please provide any suggestions, comments, and constructive criticism you may have on this team. Thanks!
