- Little story: Hello, I have played pokemon over 14 years now, but I have a little inconvenience: I have never dedicated myself to try and beat the battle frontier. I have battled competitively, I know about IVs, EVs and those things, but I have always been afraid of the battle tower because of some crushing sweeps I got when I was a kid.
I'm really inexperienced and I have thought of three teams for giving it a shot. I have tried to make them kinda original, so that it's not just a copy from the top BT records.
Ok, here I go. Btw, I omitted the IVs because I want to know your opinions before I decide to get perfect ones.
- First team.
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 defense/ 4 sp. defense
Nature: Bold
Ability: Shell Armor
Item: Leftovers
Moves:
-Calm mind
-Rest
-Thunder bolt
-Surf
Description: Slowbro is what I chose to be my pillar for this challenge, I like how well he can stall and be safe thanks to the CH immunity. This set it dedicated to scout the enemy's team, I hope he can take hits thanks to the investment in the defense department and wih calm mind he would have both defenses well covered. Rest is for taking on status moves as well as a recovery choice.
Mamoswine
EVs: 252 Att/ 252 Speed/ 4 Hp
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Snow Cloak (Should I take Oblivious? I feel both options aren't quite good... I can't get the HA)
Item: Choice band
Moves:
-Earthquake
-Ice shard
-Stone edge
-Avalanche
Description: Mamoswine is here for its ability to take electric moves that would otherwise KO Slowbro. He can revenge kill with Ice Shard and take out dragon threats and any Gliscor/ Rhydon that would carry OHKO moves.
Lucario
EVs: 252 Att/ 252 speed/ 4 Defense
Nature: Adamant (Should I go jolly to be able to outspeed something crucial?)
Ability: Inner Focus
Item: Focus Sash (Would life orb be better?)
Moves:
-Sword dance
-Close combat
-Thunder punch
-Extreme speed
Description: Lucario is here to be my sweeper after everyone is, hopefully, weak. The focus sash is here to prevent any Quick Claw or set up sweeper to instantly KO Lucario. With only one SD, Lucario should be able to sweep basically anything. Extreme speed is an incredible priority move that would let me SD > Focus sash > ES against any sweeper. Thunderpunch takes care of Gyarados, Steel type poke and any flying type poke.
Maybe Ice punch would be better for also taking Dragon types (?) I feel TP would be more useful since I already have Ice Shard choice band Mamoswine.
- Second team.
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 defense/ 4 sp. defense
Nature: Bold
Ability: Shell Armor
Item: Rocky Helmet
Moves:
-Toxic
-Rest
-Water Pulse
-Amnesia
Description: This Slowbro is dedicated solely to stall and be a pain in the ass. Rocky helmet lets him take physical hits while also dealing damage. I feel toxic is a good move to slowly kill a poke while I set up Amnesia and become unkillable, water pulse is here for damaging Steel and poison types while trying to get a confusion and then switching to my two sweepers. Also, it prevents Slowbro from being shut down by a taunt.
Flygon
EVs: 252 Attack / 252 speed / 4 Sp. defense
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Levitate
Item: Focus sash
Moves:
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Thunder punch
Description: Flygon is here to switch in to any electric move and to take ground moves that would otherwise hit Heatran. With a sash and dragon dance, I almost guarantee a free set up and with the coverage of its three moves I can start to sweep.
Heatran
EVs: 252 Sp. Attack/ 252 Speed/ 4 Hp
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire
Item: Choice Scarf
Moves:
-Flamethrower
-Dragon pulse
-Earth power
-Flash cannon
Description: Heatran is here for his ability to take of any ice moves that would kill Flygon, he can destroy steel and poison types, he lets me get a special sweeper and its choice scarf lets it outspeed many threats that would be faster than it. Also, it makes it a good revenge killer.
- Third team.
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 Sp. defense/ 4 defense
Nature: Calm
Ability: Torrent
Item: Leftovers
Moves:
-Mud slap
-Featherdance
-Rest
-Yawn
Description: I thought of this Empoleon while reading the best teams for BT. He can lower a pokemon's attack to its lowest, lower accuracy of sweepers and put to sleep any bad matchup to let my sweepers get a free set up.
It's kinda simple. Yawn > FD > Mud slap > Yawn > Switch > Set up > Sweep and rest when needed
Slowbro
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 defense/ 4 sp. defense
Nature: Modest
Ability: Shell Armor
Item: Leftovers
Moves:
-Calm mind
-Ice beam
-Thunder bolt
-Surf
Description: Again, the Calm mind high defense Slowbro that is immune to CHs. Now with the power to take out dragons and grass type pokes.
Gliscor
EVs: 252 Attack/ 252 speed/ 4 Hp
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Item: Life orb
Moves:
-Sword dance
-Earthquake
-Thunder fang
-Aerial ace
Description: Gliscor is made to take advantage of Empoleon's job. He can freely switch in, set up a couple SD and proceed to sweep the rivals. EQ can OHKO offensive Metagross even without SD, now imagine just one set up and it would be GG if the other trainer didn't had any Ice shard/ Quick claw poke. With jolly nature he can hopefully outspeed Salamence and Starmie.

Conclusion: What do you think would be the most viable team to choose? Is there something you would change? Am I just terrible at planning against the haxed CPU? Let me know in the comments, thanks!
