Team-FTW

Team(Jirachi)FTW

OK, this team is based on the SubCMJirachi set with Flashcannon and HP Ground. When i've set up with it, i haven't lost yet. But I am having a bit of trouble with certain Pokemon so hopefully you guys can help me out.

Problems right off the bat: Only one thing I could tell when I picked it was that i have no one who can check dark or ghost moves well. But i needed a status absorber who could still take on dragons and i could only come up with Mamoswine. So now I'm having trouble with gengar, the new rotom forms, and tyranitar to an extent. Repeated hits from crunch still hurt Hera.

Mesprit-ftw@Choice Scarf
Impish ~Levitate~
EVs: 252HP, 164def, 92sp.def
-Trick
-Stealth Rock
-U-turn
-Zen Headbutt

Comments: So far, it's worked pretty well for me. U-turn is there for taunters, zen headbutt isn't standard, it was reflect or light screen but i didn't see the need for it so i went with zen headbutt which does alot of damage for having no atk evs. Trick is just very good.

Mamoswine-ftw@Leftovers
Adamant ~Oblivious~
EVs: 124HP, 252atk, 64def, 70sp.def
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Earthquake
-Ice Shard

Comments: I honestly don't like Mamo as a status absorber, but i needed one and i needed something who could take any dragon, even a Salamence with a Dragon Dance on it's belt. And this is the only thing that came to mind. Hopefully i can find a better option, because this is where I'm running into trouble. Most of the people that use hypnosis or sleep powder can ruin Mamo. Gengar is the worst, although i can usually handle it unless vaporeon is down. But i can't directly switch mamo into a gengar predicting a hypnosis because shadow ball is a 2HKO. Should i change the spread or get a different pokemon that can counter dragons and not worry about having a status absorber???? This is where i need the most help:(

Vaporeon-ftw@Leftovers
Bold ~Water Absorb~
EVs: 180HP, 252def, 68sp.atk
-Roar
-Wish
-Protect
-Surf

Comments: Vaporeon has to be the most reliable pokemon in the game. Like nothing can take it down in one hit. Albeit the strength of D/PPt offense this thing is a beast. Wishpassing is what it does best. Can get the job done by itself with surf, although it's walled by anyone else with water absorb or anything that resists water. Roar is a must for all the set up sweepers of todays metagame. And to handle Suicune's well who goes even with Jirachi it seems. Takes fire moves from Tran mostly. Just a beast.

Heracross-ftw@Choice Scarf
Adamant ~Guts~
EVs: 6def, 252atk, 252spe
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-Pursuit

Comments: CSHera was used at the beginning of D/P metagame and it's still one of the best late game sweepers the game has. Megahorn is mostly for Celebi, more importantly Perishbi who wrecks Jirachi which is my core poke. Pursuit seems too weak. I may go Night Slash or Toxic. Night Slash seems pointless though. Stone Edge has gotten me many OHKO's on random Salamence's that come in after SR damage and i lol.
Does it's job well, i'm happy with it on the team.

EZ Bake@Leftovers
Bold ~Levitate~
EVs: 252HP, 168def, 88spe
-Overheat
-Thunderbolt
-Thunder Wave
-Reflect

Comments: Went a little off from the standard. EVs are the same, but i threw WoW out. I found T-wave ruins most things that switch in. Reflect for team support as well as itself. T-bolt for stab, overheat wrecks alot of todays metagame. And this thing with full health takes on Machamp with Payback, and many more things. Nice to have levitate to help Jirachi's weakness to Ground. Very good utility as well as being able to OHKO many common threats.

Jirachi-ftw@Leftovers
Timid ~Serene Grace~
EVs: 252HP, 80sp.atk, 176sp.def
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
-Flash Cannon
-HP Ground

Comments: I chose this set because i think it's more effective than the psychic/thunderbolt one in todays metagame. The team here does a good job at taking out all the things that could possibly wall this jirachi, then i set up. I haven't lost a game after i've set up even like three CMs. Usually i switch it into gengar but i'm afraid of getting sleeped so i go to mamo then the trouble starts, i think i need a more reliable status absorber. Anyways, it does a good job at taking out it's own counters with a substitute up. All in all, i am glad i made the team around jirachi. It has very good stats and is one of the best all around pokes.

Team Comments:

Like i said, the problem with the status absorber seems to be the only glaring weakness i see. I guess i could try to make Heracross sleeptalk, but then i would have a good counter to Celebi, it would be like a 50% counter, which i don't like. Hopefully somebody has an answer for my problem. That's why i made this. I probably win about 75% of the time with this team. And most of the teams i lose to have a gengar w/ hypnosis. That is the pokemon causing me the most trouble. Either that or i just get outplayed which happens.

So rate, and EZ Bake is the best nickname for Rotom-H.

Wow, Flash Cannon/HP Ground Jirachi, honestly until now i still find it a bit overkill, i mean, sure you take out its counters but its a bit overkill if the set was meant just for that. anyways, BulkyGyara can ruin you pretty easily, especially if Rotom-H is down or worn out by repeated switches into Waterfall, change Vaporeon to Wish/Protect/Surf/HP Electric to better counter it. On the flip side, if you want to keep Vappy's set, run T-Bolt on Mespirit.

If a bulky restalker is what you need, look no further than RestTalk Gyara.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP/232 Def/20 SpDef
Nature: Impish
Moves:
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Helps against Gyarados as mentioned before, can switch in comfortably on any DDer and whack it down to size, and provides a potent counter to many of platinum's physical threats. Scizor/Lucario/Heracross all get downed by this beast.

I haven't really gone to analyse this team thoroughly and snuff, so i'll probably post more later, but hope that helps for now.

I wouldn't exactly say he is "weak" to BulkyGyara, the concept "if X goes down Y beats you" can be said for most teams. Heracross can outspeed and do big damage with Stone Edge, and Rotom can be used for it. However, Vaporeon does not handle Suicune who can just Rest to stall it out -- Rotom will only be managing 46.53% - 55.45% to 252 HP / 0 SpD Suicune without a boost, giving you serious problems if it has a Calm Mind or two, as it can set up on Mamoswine, Vaporeon, Mesprit (provided it has already used Trick), and Heracross on the wrong move. I'd consider Zapdos over Rotom. Rest / Sleep Talk / Thunderbolt / Hidden Power Ice works well and can still help against Scizor and Lucario. Rest / Sleep Talk provide you with a status absorber allowing you to sac Mamoswine for a more offensive version who can Ice Shard Dragon-types who may have a Dragon Dance. You'll probably need to run Hidden Power Electric on Vaporeon (over Protect, perhaps) to beat Stone Edge Gyarados easier though. Zapdos can force Suicune into Rest, while it can heal itself with Rest and hopefully do damage through Sleep Talk. If Suicune only has Surf as its attacking move, Pressure will hurt it. I'd consider using at least some Special Attack investment into Zapdos though, or perhaps just use a Modest nature with no SpA EVs, giving you 320 Special Attack. This deals 61.39% - 72.77% to the 252 HP / 0 SpD Suicune, and 41.58% - 49.01% to the same +1 SpD Suicune, providing the almost certain KO, even with Leftovers. It just means you have it slightly easier against Suicune, meaning it cannot set up on Zapdos. You still need to watch out for it if it gets a Calm Mind in before Zapdos comes in, but you should be able to Roar it with Vaporeon until it is the last Pokémon, where you can slowly wear it down with Pressure, so a team mate has an easier time. If Suicune has more than one attack it lacks Calm Mind, Rest, or Sleep Talk, making it easier for you anyway.

Good luck!

I really like the idea of making an offesive team that emphasises the sweep of something but for me you havent done this in the right way.
For instance looking at the pokemon that counter your jirachi an obvious is example is gyarados. Similarly Bronzong and skarmory also resist both attacks. Looking at bronzong and skarmory and come to think of it zapdos who are worse as they can roar. These are all countered by magnezone. I suggest specs as it will do a shit load to bronzong but life orb with explosion could work well and take out blissey. Magnezone could go over rotom or heracross. I suggest you also put hp electric/ice beam over roar on vaporeon as you dont have spikes to fully take advantage on it.

How is specszone countering Gyara????? I was seriously thinking about carrying a magnezone, but they have the same weaknesses so it's going to hard to switch them in. I guess i'll put HP Electric on Vaporeon, over roar, but honestly i haven't gotten alot of trouble with gyarados, but if rotom gets worn down, i may have a problem. I'll see if resttalk Gyara works, it looks like it should. Although i don't know how it can handle dragons well. Like Salamence's Outrage but maybe.

Also, all the pokemon you mentioned iKitsune are taken care of by Rotom-H as far as I'm concerned. Zapdos isn't taking down rotom-H, not while rotom is hitting it back with a stab'd t-bolt of it's own. Gyarados gets to choose whether to switch out or die. So i don't know why you're saying i didn't build my team right. I didn't just throw this team together. Magnezone will get trashed if you're saying to use it with a jirachi. Any fire or ground move and they're both pretty much dead. And gyarados can carry earthquake still. It's not standard but, it would take out both jirachi and magnezone with like one DD up. So Rotom-H is better since it can handle any gyarados. Also, i don't need a Bliss counter, heracross handles that. Bronzong will lose to rotom-H if it has already used hypnosis on a poke. Skarmory gets completely owned by rotom, like i said Zapdos has some serious trouble with it. On the roost i can switch out to Hera or Jirachi to start setting up on it. Zapdos has roar, but it aint standard, it has better moves to fill it's slots. Like heat wave which does trash to jirachi, doesn't break a sub after a CM. W/out roar, jirachi will use it as setup fodder, with roar, hera and rotom-H handle it.

That's why i put roar on vappy to not let suicune set up. I like the idea of Zapdos though, then I could use something else to handle dragons, like weavile i suppose, what else can take dragons with a DD up. Well magnezone could, but like i said earlier, it's hard to find a spot for him since he get's hit SE for everything jirachi does.

Should i keep roar and use HP Electric over Protect?????

What im trying to say is that if you take out the walls using magnezone that would otherwise sop your jirachi sweep. It will be much easier to pull off in adding magnezone i suggested you give vaporeon hp electric as it willl allow you to counter gyarados without using rotom so rotom can be replaced. Also magnezone forces your opponents hand something rotom can not do as no one in there right mind is gonna stay in with skarm on rotom. I think if you make this change jirachi and salamence will be better enabled to sweep and you will win more of your games.

OK, so change protect to Hp Electric on Vappy. Take Out Rotom for Magnezone, specs i guess. Zone get's rid of Steels, and who else though?

Also, i don't understand the part about Salamence, i don't have mence in this team
