Team GOOD SOUP

This is my first RMT, an attempt to create a balanced OU Team that is both successful and original. Without further ado:

GOOD SOUP. Because I like the sound of it.

Froslass @ Focus Sash
Snow Cloak | Timid
252 Spe, 252 SpAtk, 6 HP
~ Ice Beam
~ Spikes
~ Taunt
~ Destiny Bond

The Froslass set that prompted many a players to vote it into BL is my lead.
Taunt keeps the many slower Leads from setting up; Destiny Bond either threatens
a KO or takes stuff down when Froslass is low on health, and sometimes it buys me
an extra turn to set up Spikes. Froslass' main job, of course, is getting as many Spikes
as possible on the Field before going down. Ice Beam is for STAB and helps with
Salamence and Aerodactyl Leads.

Arcanine @ Expert Belt
Intimidate | Jolly
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Def
~ Flare Blitz
~ Extremespeed
~ Thunder Fang
~ Will-O-Wisp

Arcanine, with Fire STAB and Intimidate, helps me a great deal in countering the
ubiquitous Scizor. It also outruns and OHKOs Lucario, Breloom and non-scarfed
Heracross after weakening their attacks with Intimidate. Extremespeed is obscenely
useful against worn-down enemies, while Thunder Fang hits Waters (especially Gyarados).
Will-O-Wisp messes up some common counters such as Tyranitar, Swampert, and Dragon
Types. Expert Belt is a great alternative to Choice Band, the only problem being that
it doesn't boost Extremespeed in any way.

Hariyama @ Leftovers
Thick Fat | Relaxed
252 Def, 172 Atk, 86 HP
~ Brick Break
~ Stone Edge
~ Payback
~ Whirlwind

Meet the physical Tank. Hariyama in OU is a completely underrated Pokémon that
switches into Tyranitar and Weavile all day long while cracking mean jokes about them.
At the moment I'm using Brick Break for STAB because Force Palm doesn't always 2HKO
Blissey, and having a way to remove those annoying Screens is nice. Stone Edge is there
to hit Gyarados and Salamence likewise, while Payback obviously deals with Ghosts.
I thoght about replacing Whirlwind with Bulk Up, but I really need a phazer, and it's always
nice to rack up Spikes/Rocks Damage by shuffling the opponents Pokémon around.

Relaxed Nature makes me slower than Dusknoir, allowing me to hit it with fully powered
Paybacks. Then again most Dusknoir carry Will-O-Wisp anyway, so I might change it back to Impish.

Dragonite @ Light Clay
Inner Focus | Careful
248 HP, 202 SpDef, 60 Atk
~ Dragon Claw
~ Earthquake
~ Thunder Wave
~ Light Screen

Dragonite, my Special Wall of sorts. This set is kind of specialized...most of the
time I bring in Dragonite on a resisted attack (of which there are plenty), then
set up Light Screen or T-Wave away, depending on the situation. Light Screen
with Light Clay makes strong special Attackers less of a bother. If Steel Types
switch in, expecting a Dragon Attack, Earthquake deals with them. The Attack
EVs ensure a OHKO on Lucario and Heatran. I used to have Roost in place of
Dragon Claw, but I hated being helpless against Flying Types and levitating Pokes.
All in all, I love the idea of Support/Wall Dragonite, but I'm not sure at all about this Set.

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Torrent | Modest
200 HP, 182 SpAtk, 124 Def, 4 Spe
~ Hydro Pump
~ Ice Beam
~ Grass Knot
~ Stealth Rock

Empoleon is basically only here for two reasons: It sets up Rocks, and gives me a
much needed Dragon Resist (along with a couple other needed resists), which is
why this set looks kind of slapped together. 3 Attacking moves for good coverage
plus rocks, because nothing else in my Team can set them up. I like Empoleon for
the resists it gives my team, but after setting up rocks, it basically becomes an all-out
Attacker with no speed (just enough to outrun Swampert) and semi-useless Defensive EVs.
Need help here.

Mamoschwein (Mamoswine) @ Leftovers
Oblivious | Careful
252 Atk, 138 SpDef, 116 HP
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Shard
~ Curse
~ Avalanche

Mamoswine is my favorite Pokémon, and the Curse Set is my favorite Mamo Set because
I just don't like Choice Items, and boosted Ice Shards are awesome. Despite Scizor Mania,
Curse Mamo still gets to sweep fairly often with its sexy Double STAB. I'm NOT dropping
Avalanche for something else because I need its extra Power against certain sturdy, floating
Psychics and Ghosts. The EVs and Nature help Mamo survive some special Assaults, like a
Celebi/Cresselia Grass Knot, while it hits them back hard with Avalanche.

CONCLUSION:

I'm actually pretty pleased with this team, as it has been fairly successful on the ladder so far.
The one thing I dearly miss, having three Rock weaks on my Team, is a Rapid Spinner.
Because of this, I thought about replacing Empoleon with Tentacruel, but that would remove
Stealth Rocks and my only Dragon Resist from my Team. Metagross can SR, but not spin.

Forretress can do both AND resists Dragon, but lacks the offensive Power of the other possible
Pokes. Another thing is that Empoleon keeps Kingdra at bay, so I might end up not replacing it
at all...so...rate away please.

Good team, it's very original with 3 non-OUs.

The main thing I see here is a lack of sweepers. Mamoswine can get OHKOd by many attackers such as Starmie and will be too slow after a Curse to retaliate, and +1 Ice Shard can easily be shrugged off. For this reason, I recommend this earlier-game sweeper (Mamoswine can rampage late-game with +1 Ice Shards):

Set: Bulky DD Dragonite
Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 224 HP/88 Atk/196 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

(RaikouLover)

This set is unique in that it doesn't use a straight-up DD set. It focuses on using bulk to get more than one Dragon Dance.

A Salamence can run the exact same stats, but as it is faster than Lucario, Dragonite would need a Jolly nature to duplicate that. So RaikouLover advises us to dispatch Dragonite from that responsibility and call this a straight-up sweeper (after a few DDs).

This is not outclassed by Salamence. Why?
If Salamence uses a Jolly nature to counter Lucario, it loses the attack power. However, if it were to attempt to duplicate this Dragonite's attack and defenses starting with defense, it would have to run this EV spread:

192 HP / 120 Def / 160 SpD / 36 Spe

This yields the following stats:

379 / 336 / 226 / 230 / 236 / 245

Reaches the same stats, but loses 22 points in attack! Starting from attack, it would look like this:

192 HP / 88 Atk / 120 Def / 80 SpD / 36 Spe

Yields:

379 / 358 / 226 / 230 / 216 / 245

Loses 20 points of Special Defense. So, give this set a try!

I don't see your Dragonite doing much for your team, so give it a try!

That Dragonite looks good, but I think my team might miss that Paralysis support and Light Screen.

Any comments on my "Rapid Spinner" problem?
