I've been planning an offensive team, for a change of pace, since I've been using balanced teams that use both stall and offense tactics. Somehow, I found out that Baton Pass teams and heavy stall teams easily destroy that kind of team. Or at least, they destroy my teams.
SO. Here's what I was able to come up with. I designed a team, specifically to shut down stall teams. I came up with the a Lead Azelf with a few tweaks here and there, and built a wall-breaking team around it. So, without further ado, this is Team Hellgate.
Sloth
Azelf @ Choice Scarf
Adamant Nature
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
~ Trick
~ Stealth Rock
~ Explosion
~ U-Turn
// Azelf is my lead of choice (no pun intended). The purpose of this lead is to shut down most suicide leads, the occasional Baton Pass Ninjask, and certain walls like Blissey and Bronzong. U-Turn is there in order to scout the enemy lead, if it is not any of the leads I mentioned above, and it's my best way of damaging the occcasional Tyranitar without using Explosion. Also, U-Turn helps in ensuring that I can get SR into the field, even if it's just a bit later into the game. Finally, using U-Turn on the first turn allows the use of Trick later on, if the aforementioned walls appear to wreak havoc.
Greed
Infernape @ Life Orb
Naive Nature
64 Atk/252 SpA/192 Spe
~ Nasty Plot
~ Fire Blast
~ Close Combat
~ Grass Knot
// MixApe is my wallbreaker of choice. Infernape is the second line of offense I can use to shut down the walls that can hinder the sweep of my other team members. Specifically, Infernape is used to shut down Blissey, Bronzong, Swampert, and Hippowdon. Azelf's Explosion and U-Turn both help to bring in Infernape safely into the field, and hopefully kill the aforementioned threats, or just set up using Nasty Plot.
Lust
Latias @ Expert Belt
Timid Nature
4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
~ Draco Meteor
~ HP Fire
~ Surf
~ Wish/Thunderbolt
// The main role of Latias is to lure a lot of common threats, i.e., Tyranitar and Scizor, and slay them, opening up opportunities for the rest of my team to sweep. Surf is really helpful, and with Expert Belt, Latias can easily bring down TTar. Same way with HP Fire, except with Scizor. The occasional Forretress and Magnezone are also beaten by this Latias. Wish is my move of choice for the final slot, but I never get to use it effectively anyway, so I think I'll replace it with Thunderbolt.
Envy
Gengar @ Life Orb
Timid Nature
4 Def/252 SpA/252 Spe
~ Substitute
~ Pain Split
~ Shadow Ball
~ Focus Blast
// Gyarados has trouble with Rotom-A, and this is one of the reasons why I chose Gengar. Another reason is that I needed a spin blocker in order to keep SR in play. The last reason is that I need a Pokémon that can destroy some frailer threats on the Special side, notably Lucario. SubPainSplit Gengar can also function as a sweeper of sorts, same with BaitLatias above (whom I recently used to sweep four opposing Pokémon and subsequently won the battle).
Wrath
Gyarados @ Choice Band/Choice Scarf
Adamant Nature
8 HP/252 Atk/248 Spe
~ Waterfall
~ Earthquake
~ Payback/Ice Fang
~ Stone Edge
// This member of my team is somewhat of a problem to me right now. Initially, I planned Gyarados to be a secondary sweeper, and to counter some stat-up sweepers, most notably Kingdra and other Gyarados. However, I find that Dragon Dance sweepers essentially nullify this reason, in the sense that the opponent that I'm supposed to counter becomes faster than me, and end up KOing Gyara anyway. So I'm considering a Choice Scarf instead of a Choice Band for him. And I realized that I'm not supposed to fight any Rotom anyway, since I have Gengar to drive them away, so I'm considering removing Payback for Ice Fang.
Pride
Scizor @ Life Orb (Technician)
Adamant Nature
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
~ Swords Dance
~ Brick Break
~ Bullet Punch
~ Bug Bite
// The final member of my team. I planned this team such that my other Pokémon can beat the hell out of the threats to my sweepers and rip holes in enemy teams. Scizor is my best bet for a late-game sweeper, ready to eliminate survivors of the onslaught from my other Pokémon, but somehow, I keep finding myself bringing out Scizor too early. So I think, instead of a stat-up sweeper, I should use the Choice Band variant. I figured that it would be inevitable at times that I would find myself bring out Scizor too early. And in my opinion, stat-up Scizor is too easily stopped.
That's all. I've won quite a handful of battles with this team, but it's pretty difficult for me to use this team against gimmick teams and UU users. I've lost a few matches because I tricked Choice Scarf into the wrong Pokémon (LOL Kingdra). Other than misprediction, I'd appreciate it if you guys can point out some flaws on this team, and help me decide on Gyarados and Scizor. Thanks.
