This team is not great, and i really need help on it. I've only used it about 15 times now, and actually won all of them, although i honestly don't know how that happened.
This team was built around the fact that I really wanted to use one of my favourite new pokemon, Kokoromori.
Unfortunately, GameFreak has decided that every pokemon I love has to be crap, and this applies to Kokoromori too.
Team Building Process
I started with Kokoromori, who - believe it or not - is going to be my special sweeper.
I knew i would want a rapid spinner, since Koko is weak to rock, and so i went with my favourite spinner of them all, Tentacruel, who can also support my team by laying toxic spikes.
Steel types wall poor Koko, so of course i wanted something to kill them, so Magnezone joined my team.
Unfortunately, not just steels wall Kokoromori. A lot of things do. And I'm going to want them all dead before i attempt to sweep, so I added Shandeera.
Now i need a lead, and I need Stealth Rocks, so I added one of the best suicide leads, Infernape.
Now I wanted a sweeper on the physical side, because Koko isn't always going to cut it. I added this pokemon because i thought it would be good, and now Garchomp has become the MVP of the team.
The Team
Ratbat
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Jolly, Sand Veil
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 speed
Stealth Rock
Taunt
Earthquake
U-turn
Gliscor replaced Infernape as my lead, and is working better for a number of reasons. The first is that it has taunt, which helps against all the skarmory, forretress, and nattorei who try to set up. Another thing Gliscor does is stop Doryuzu. That's always a good thing. If Dory's got a balloon I don't know what to do though. I'm not sure about this set, but I do like Gliscor, so suggestions on a different set might be helpful. Should i replace Leftovers with Focus sash? Yache Berry? Should I put acrobat on the set somewhere? Probably not, acrobat kinda sucks usually. Now I'm ranting. I'll stop that now.
TENTACLES
Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Calm, Liquid Ooze
252 hp / 220 Defense / 36 Special Defense
Toxic Spikes
Rapid Spin
Boiling Water
Giga Drain
A spinner seemed mandatory, and Tentacruel is one of the best there is. Liquid ooze is a surprisingly good ability, letting me switch into robooshin's drain punches, and leech seeds, and punishing them. Toxic spikes support my team nicely, weakening my opponents, and making it easier to sweep. Boiling water helps burn pokemon immune to toxic spikes, but i might consider switching to surf, but i don't see the power helping me much. Giga drain is my last move because it allows me to defeat bulky waters (including burungeru, who would block me from spinning), and also allows me to counter Cloyster, who i had trouble with before i put on Giga Drain.
Magnetron
Magnezone @ Balloon
Calm, Magnet Pull
252 hp, 96 defense, 163 special defense
Reflect
Light Screen
Hidden Power (fire)
Volt Change
This used to be a scarfed set, which worked really well, but this works even better. Balloon allows me to trap and set up on steels choiced onto ground moves, volt change into Kokoromori, and set up calm minds. This thing makes it a lot easier for Koko to set up, thanks to the dual screens. Volt change allows me to escape when i want to while still damaging my opponent, and Hp fire kills steels, but more specifically, banded scizor, scarfed genosect, and Nattorei. The evs are taken from a magnezone analysis, as I didn't know what to give it.
Wikid
Shandeera @ Choice scarf
Timid, Shadow tag
4 special defense, 252 special attack, 252 speed
Shadow Ball
Overheat
Energy Ball
Hidden Power (fighting)
Not much to say here, I think this is the standard set. It traps things, then it kills things. Shadow ball and HP fighting have perfect coverage, energy ball hits water types hard> Overheat was chosen over flamethrower or fire blast, because i switch after killing usually anyways, so the sp.attack drop doesn't matter much, and the boosted accuracy and power is nice over Fire blast.
FinFang
Garchomp @ Yache berry
Jolly, Sand Veil
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 speed
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Outrage
I started playing pokemon competitively right after Garchomp became uber, so this was actually my first time using Garchomp. And now i know why he was uber last gen. Swords dance while the opponent switches or uses and ice move, then kill everything. Chomp won me most of my matches, and he's probably staying on the team.
Nubat
Kokoromori @ Life Orb
Timid, Simple
4 defense, 252 special attack, 252 speed
Calm Mind
Assist Power
Air Slash
Roost
Step 1. Come in against something you switch out. Weak special attackers, pokes choiced on ground or fighting moves.
Step 2. Calm Mind. Thanks to simple, this is Nasty Plot and Amnesia at the same time.
Step 3. Either CM again, then roost if the opponent is a special attacker and i think i can take hits, or attack.
Assist power is 100 power (plus STAB) after one Calm Mind, and 180 after two.
It's possible to sweep with this, just not easy.
Kokoromori isn't going anywhere, as the team was built to use him, but some suggestions to make Koko better would be appreciated.
And that's the team. It needs a lot of work, and I'm not sure where to start, so I'd like some help. I have a big ground weakness, and that should probably be the first thing dealt with.
