No, the entire team isn’t made up of Legendaries, but this is the first Time I’ve ever had one my team. You see, not too long ago, I use to think that using Legendaries outside of Uber Tier was cheap, and just sad, but with the new Gen, I’m actually starting to see why some Legendaries aren’t actually in the UBER tier, and that’s because they aren’t as good as I thought they were. (Don’t get me wrong, they are still good, just not UBER good.) So, deciding upon a basic one start with, I chose Heatran… and built the team around him.

-Note: If you look at an older RMT I did, a Legendary pokemon was on that team, but this team did come first, and has gone through more changes then that one has.

The Building Process:

Like I said, I wanted to start with a Legendary pokemon to build a team around. My number one choice was Heatran, because he is just amazing. His stats are great, the opportunities you get to bring him in are pretty easy… so long as I’m not facing a weather team…
485.png

At first, I carried him on a balloon, but I started to notice that while there are a lot of ground types, there are just as many fighting types that appear… so I had to find something that could counter both. This lead to me adding Weezing to my team.
485.png
110.png
From there, I needed to add a Special Wall to go with Weezing, and in this case, I chose Burungeru… because it was a pretty decent match… but that mad both of my walls weak to the same type, and that was bad… so I changed it very quickly to Vaporeon, who has yet to let me down. (True Story)

From there, I needed to build a set of attackers that could plow their way through the enemy, and I needed a way to handle weather teams. Two pokemon came to mind very quickly. Gyarados and Cacturne. I have always loved Cacturne, and have been hoping for a way to use it in OU without it dying to quickly, and I found it… it works very well as a TTar counter (so long as Ice Beam/Flamethrower isn’t involved) and it does wonders on taking down Hippowdawn and Politoed. Gyarados handles Baton Passers and Sun Teams pretty effectively.

My last pokemon was a toughy. First I thought about using a Mixmence here, but upon looking at it, It just didn’t feel like it would work to well, but a Dragon, I felt, was needed, so I added one of the new dragons. Ononokusu was my choice, and I haven’t looked back, its fast, and outspeeds most of what switches into it, though not all...

Upon the suggestion of Jadora, I changed out Cacturne for Virizion(Birijion), and its working out very well. I think I'll keep him on the team...

Now on with the Detailed Report:
485.png

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Pulse

Heatran, a pokemon with so many uses. It can lure out other Heatran’s, who hope for a Fire Boost, it can knock down leads that lack Focus Sash… but in all honesty, I put it on my team to cover up a few spots of weakness I felt like I had… but either way, he works very well for a sort of “in the moment” Strategy, when I’m unsure of where to go next…
110.png

Weezing (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Fire Blast

One half of my defensive side, he takes hits extremely well, having only one weakness, which is to Psychic, and when I fear Psychic, I’d switch out instantly anyways. Sludge Bomb is for a STAB move, Will-O-Wisp is for those Physical Attackers I switch into, and lower there pesky Attack Stat. (Honesty: I don’t really care much about the actual burn damage, I just wanted the Atk Drop.) HP Grass for Ground Types I switch into, so I can at least scare them away, for the occasion that, you know, Weezing doesn’t scare them off naturally, and then, for the Icing on the Cake, Explosion, for when I’m weak, and I need to take something out with me.
134.png

Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 120 HP / 136 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Boil Over
- Ice Beam
- Wish
- Protect

The other half of my defensive side. She can take hits very well also, with her high HP and Sp.Def. I gave her some Sp.Atk EVs so she could pack a punch when facing other pokemon. Boil Over, being the premiere Water move this Gen, allows me to add to my burn collection. Ice Beam to take care of special dragons who stay in. Wish to heal herself, and her team, when she can. The last spot was a bit tricky for me to choose, and my choice is by no means permanent, but I went with Synchro Noise to help with Rain Teams a bit, as they resist her other 2 moves. (For those who don’t know, Synchro Noise only hits pokemon who are of the same type as you, which means that she can only hit Water Pokemon with this move. Think about a particular Water/Ghost pokemon who would hate to see this move used against them.)
445.png

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs:252 Atk | 4 Def | 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Swords Dance
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Brick Break

Like Ono before it, Garchomp helps to cover Heatran's weaknesses, and vise versa. Swords Dance allows Garchomp to boost his already high attack even higher. Though I don't normally use it, Outrage is the strongest of Dragon Attacks, though a pretty easy one to locate, so I'll only use it when I've boosted to max, so I can inflict the most damage possible. Earthquake is a second STAB move, and Brick Break to handle the Barriers that stand in the way of a clean sweep.
640.png

Birijion @ leftovers
Ability: Justice Heart
EVs:4 HP | 252 Sp.A | 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power Ice

Along with Gyarados, Birijion helps take care of popular Weather pokemon, such as TTar, Hippowdon, and Politoed. Along with its power to take down such pokemon, it also has the capability to sweep a team with the addition of Calm Mind added.
212.png

Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP | 56 Atk | 204 SpDef
-Swords Dance
-Bug Bite
-Bullet Punch
-Roost

Scizor was added upon the suggestion of Heist, and helps to cover weaknesses I have to Lati@s and Pokemon such as defensive Jirachi. He is able to switch to Birijion who can handle common Scizor checks, except those who are fire related... However, Scizor may be useful for now, but he still has a bit to prove if he wishes to stay on the team.

Old Team Members:
612.png

Ononokusu (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rivalry
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Taunt

Like Legendaries, I don’t use dragons very often. However, this team was all about me stepping out of what I’m used to using, and stepping into metagame fully, so along with Heatran, I picked Ononokusu. With the fact that he only has Dragon typing, he covers a lot of types all by himself. Dragon Claw for those other dragons (like Kingdra >:( ) Earthquake for TTar, and Night Slash for coverage. (It was that or Rock Slide.)
332.png

Bro 1 (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Sunny Day

This and my next Pokemon are more than Sweepers, they are Weather Stoppers. It is there job to come in on a Weather Inducer, and destroy them. Cacturne, I’ve noticed, does this better than almost anyone. Especially when it comes to TTar and Hippodawn. Energy Ball for a STAB Super-Effective on both of them. Dark pulse for another STAB, on the occasional Psychic and Ghost. Focus Blast for those pokemon that Energy Ball just isn’t enough, and Sunny Day to change the Weather away from the evil that is Rain and Sand Storm.
130.png

Bro 2 (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Stone Edge

Like Cacturne, Gyarados does a fantastic job at dealing with Weather Inducers, be they Sunny or Sandy. Roar wasn’t originally on this set, until I was swept by a Baton Pass team, though I’m thinking of switching to Dragon Tail, which isn’t blocked by Taunt, and it does damage. The EVs are pretty basic, as is the move set and Nature (though I think Jolly would be better, possibly) Anyways, yeah… a very typical Gyarados.

Final Notes:
-Off all things I'm missing on this team, the one that I'm missing the most is a rapid spinner, and the only one I can think to remove is Weezing for Forretress. If I do have Forretress, I'd also have access to entry hazards, which I'm also missing... what do you think? Should I add Forretress?

Some unique choices and some nice ideas, but there are some definite tweaks needed.

If you're going to run Heatran as a lead, you might as well give it Stealth Rock, since you're never going to find yourself using Dark Pulse. Fire Blast is stronger anyway. Similarly, Leftovers don't do a whole lot for a mon with only attacking moves. Use Substitute if you're going to use Lefties, otherwise a Balloon or Shucca Berry will save your ass a lot more than lefties will since you're not a bulky Heatran.

Weezing is underrated as it has great bulk and defensive typing with the perfect ability. However I wouldn't waste your walling to a nerfed Explosion. Pain Split will keep you in the game much longer, and Flamethrower hits the Steels that poison can't, and is neutrally stronger than HP anything. Use it over HP Grass.

Either Protect or Hail are much better options in the fourth spot. Protect guarantees you can heal yourself, whereas Hail is far better at devastating rain and sand teams than Synchro Noise. I guarantee it.

Replace Cacturne entirely. CM Virizion is far better against both Rain and Sand teams. The lack of Sunny Day also doesn't hurt Gyarados and Vaporeon's STAB moves.

Virizion@Life Orb
Timid 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Calm Mind
Giga Drain
Focus Blast
HP Ice

Much better coverage, a boosting move, and offensive healing in Giga Drain.

No Outrage on Ono? That's kind of its main selling point. Not to mention, again, on an offensive and relatively frail mon like Ono, Leftovers aren't helping you much. You're more likely to be attacked by faster dragons, so the dragon resist berry can help you get that extra boost in. Not to mention being base 97 you only need enough speed to outrun base 95 pokemon, so you can put 2-3 stat points into something else.

I made said changes to my team, and its helped quite a lot, thanks. If anyone else has any recommended changes, I'll take them into account...

Just a few tweaks that i would like to suggest:

well this isn't a tweak just strategy, before you use hail on your vaporeon make sure you take out their weather inducer first this is probably fairly obvious but i see people make that mistake all too often.

second, on onokonusu try this set:
onokonusu@Life Orb
jolly nature
mold breaker-more reliable than rivalry.
4HP/252atk/252spe
-dragon dance
-outrage
-earthquake
-taunt
This set provides neutral coverage on everything barring skarmory. With a base atk stat of 147 all you need is neutral coverage, especially after a few dragon dances. Taunt stops you from getting phazed and statused, which allows you to get more ddances up.

Third, on birijion you might want to try leftovers over life orb, both are viable it's just an option considering the health you heal from giga drain will be shaved off thanks to life orb. Also birijion is a legendary XD just saying :D

On gyarados since you have roar, you might want to try a resttalk set.
gyarados@leftovers
impish nature
intimidate
248HP/252Def/8spe
-rest
-sleep talk
-waterfall
-dragon tail/roar
a more defensive approach to gyarados. it can counter a lot of the metagame by giving them atk drops. You can easily take a rock slide from doryuuzu and 2hko back with waterfall. rest off the damage you take and sleep talk so your not completely useless asleep. dragon tail is a cool new move he got this gen. It doesn't phaze through subs however, so you could try roar for a more reliable phaze.

This is quite a cool team and I appreciate the innovation that some of your Pokemon have. Weezing has a pretty big niche in 5th Gen. OU as it has the ability to take on top physical threats such as Roopushin, Doryuuzu and Terakion and still manage to come out on top although admittedly the best it can do versus. the latter is burn it. The choice of Hail may look ludicrous to some, but is actually a really solid option as it gives you the means to take down most weather teams.

Firstly, on Weezing you will not need Hidden Power [Grass]. The most common ground-types do not fear anything from it really. Randorusu, Gliscor and Doryuuzu all take neutral damage from it and with access to reliable recovery so Hidden Power [Grass] warrants no use. Futhermore, all of these ground-type Pokemon will be scared away by Will-o-wisp, barring Gliscor. I think you should definitely consider Fire Blast in that slot. Fire Blast will let you actually beat opposing Doryuuzu as after you Will-o-wisp it, you can do absolutely nothing and Fire Blast will let Weezing act as an emergency Scizor check. Fire Blast will also do substantial damage to Nattorei, who get greedy and decide to Spike against you.

While Hail is cool, with the addition of Birijion I think you have Rain Dance teams more than covered and I believe Protect would be much more useful. Protect not only allows you to scout but will also guarantee the Wish will heal your Vaporeon.

Leftovers is a valid option on Birijion and in my opinion would be better than Life Orb. You need as much survivability when you take on Rain Dance teams but it is up to you.

On Ononokusu, I think you should use Taunt over Night Slash. With Mold Breaker, everything bar Skarmory is taking damage from its hits and Taunt allows you to shut down Skarmory and Dragon Dance in its face. Brave Bird will manage a 4HKO however..., but personally I would just consider replacing Ononokusu for a Dragon Dance Salamence or Swords Dance Garchomp. Ononokusu was a bit like Rampardos. The huge attack stat was supposed to shock nations, but once all the hype went down, people realised it was a fairly average Pokemon. Both DD Salamence and SD Garchomp have much more sweeping potential than Ononokusu.

Finally, you are currently destroyed by Calm Minb Rankurusu [in fact a lot of teams aree], and a Specially Defensive Scizor should be able to fix this weakness. This Scizor should slot over Gyarados fairly nicely and give you a bit more insurace vs. the Lati twins as well. You are also quite weak to these. Not only this, but Scizor and Birijion can both switch into their usual counters. Scizor doesn't mind coming in on Latias and Pokemon such as defensive Jirachi and Birijion can come in against Gliscor and bulky-waters such as Burungeru who look to end a Scizor sweep. Here is the set:

Scizor @ Leftovers
Adamant | Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 204 SpDef
Swords Dance / Bug Bite / Bullet Punch / Roost

Your team is actually surprisingly slow and Scizor's Bullet Punch can certainly come in handy if you need to take down something like a +2 Terakion, Garchomp or Salamence, although its main use is its ability to beat Rankurusu, Latias and Latios who your team struggles against. Watch out for Hidden Power [Fire] on the latter two though..

Good luck!
