Team Linoone... go!

Linoone is one of my favorite pokemon, but the kind that is not generally viable in a competitive team. Checking out possibilities for Belly Drum Extreme Speed Linoone however... well I had to give it a try. This is mostly "for fun" but I'd like it to work as well as it can.

So, started with Linoone, and then looked around for other pokemon that would help cover its weaknesses. The whole team is setup to either lure in + counter what can block it, to weaken the opponents team in general, or to buff up my team's defenses in order to cushion Linoone's tiny fluffy body while it sets up for the sweep.

INFERNAPE @ Focus Sash
Blaze
Naive/Hasty
EVs 64 Atk / 242 SpAtt / 192 Spd
-FakeOut
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Close Combat

Standard lead/anti lead. Fakeout to put a dent in the opposing poke's Focus Sash (if they have one), and since he has one of his own, he ought to be able to last at least long enough to get a Stealth Rock off, which should make Linoone's, and everyone else's life a little bit easier. FB and CC are his two strongest STAB options, giving him coverage vs. a fair number of types.

LINOONE @ Salac Berry
Gluttony
Adamant
EVs 116 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 136 Spe
-Belly Drum
-Extreme Speed
-Seed Bomb
-Shadow Claw

Main sweeper for hilarity. Rest of team is built around trying to make it safe for him to get out and do his thing. Belly Drum, Gluttony, and Salac Berry allow for a single turn to max attack and raise speed. Linoone should only come out once its safe for it to do so.

----------------------------------

uxie.gif

UXIE @ Light Clay
Levitate
Impish
EVs 252 HP / 252 Def / 4SpD
-Reflect
-LightScreen
-Memento
-U-Turn

Bulky setup helper. Can probably come in on EQs aimed at Infernape or Magnezone. Putting up both screens makes it more likely that fragile Linoone will survive long enough to sweep something. U-Turn helps scout, as knowing what pokemon the other player has at his or her disposal is key, because its not safe for Linoone to come out until everything that blocks it is dead. Memento also sacrifices Uxie when he is no longer useful, to further weaken whatever Linoone is coming in to setup on.

----------------------------------

magnezone.gif

MAGNEZONE @ Leftovers
Magnet Pull
Naive / Timid
EVs 40 Atk / 252 SpA / 215 Spe
-Substitute
-Thunderbolt
-HP Fire
-Magnet Rise

Steels can stop Linoone in its tracks, so Magnezone is here to make sure they don't get that chance. Going with HP Fire over HP Grass, because Linoone should be covering that type with Seed Bomb. Fire also takes care of Scizor.

----------------------------------

salamence.gif

SALAMENCE @ Life Orb
Intimidate
Rash
EVs 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
-Brick Break
-Draco Meteor
-Roost
-Roar

Hopefully able to stop walls like Blissy. Possibly lures out Steel types for Magnezone to switch in and take care of. Roar to help scout for other pokemon that might give Linoone trouble, and Roost to recover damage.

vaporeon.gif

VAPOREON @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Calm / Bold
EVs 128 HP / 252 Def / 128 Spe
-Surf
-Wish
-Protect
-Baton Pass

I wanted to give Roar to Vape instead of Salamance but... decided that being able to BP Wish is probably more useful. Acts as healer for the team, and can take any incoming water attacks aimed at Infernape. Possibly don't need Roost on Salamance if Vape is around?
My current team uses a bulky Milotic w/ Surf/IceBeam/Hypnosis/Recover, which has been very reliable for me, is it worth considering over Vaporeon here? Milotic also likes to eat status effects, which is nice, I suppose, if you can predict them.

Anyway, thanks much for any input you may have. :)

I generally would run a different move, such as thunder wave, uxie instead of memento so that Uxie can make more light screens/reflects as well as serve as a wall.

Also your salamence shouldn't been running roar + 2 attacks
It should serve as a back-up sweeper and wall breaker that softens the opposing team so that you can sweep
replace Brick break with earthquake and roar with fire blast or flamethrower

Consider replacing infernape with azelf or aerodactyl (who both have taunt)
it is imperative that entry hazards are not laid down on your side of the field. (consider tentacruel over vaporeon because of rapid spin)

I hope this helps

Memento is almost necessary on that Uxie Sextus... the point of the poke is not to make Reflects/Light Screens it is to throw up 2 initial screens and then either 1 force a switch through memento or 2 make it safe for Linoone to BD and take little to no damage. then proceed to sweep with his OHKO's

Hmmm. I'm thinking right now that Sextus does bring up a good point though. Entry hazards, esp. Toxic Spikes, would be a big problem. Is Tentacruel the best way to solve this? I suppose there really arent very many spinners to choose from.

Well, you could always try Claydol as a spinner, since Levitate makes him immune to both sets of spikes. He also resists Stealth Rock, which is a very nice thing for a Rapid Spinner.

Hey I got your PM,
Yeah people are saying (including you) that you need a rapid spinner. I also agree with Jenica Claydol is a good option because it can rapid spin and set up screens (too bad it does not learn memento :/) But if you want a faster one with a bit more attacking power you could try out a standard Starmie rapid spin set first set here.http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/starmie .
Anyway, on your Vaporeon I would recommend using Substitute so you can pass it to your Linoone for an easier belly drum. (Btw I saw the substitute passing from TheOldSchoolCrisis' "All Lies" RMT and when i battled him before I rated I got 6-0ed because of not being able to stop the linoone sweep due to the substitute) Also I don't think you will want a Milotic over Vaporeon because now you don't have a team healer which Vaporeon offers and Milotic does not. The rest of your team looks solid but I too am not 100% sure of why a Salamence is running roar.
