This lil team ah mine has been pretty successful.
Unlike my old team that consisted mainly of Self-destruction, I chose a more stream-line approach.
I personally think this team is boring. It looks like everything else I've been seeing. Oddly, though, It's been winning almost every single match it's been in.
The Team was literally just thrown up. I went onto Shoddy and asked somebody to name a random OU pokemon, and the pokemon that came up was Lucario.
So I decided to do some R & D, and I found that most of the members of my team work well with my Lucario.
Before I get into the weaknesses, let me post the individual member's information.
Lucario (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Close Combat
- Extremespeed
- Crunch
- Counter
So that's Lucario. Your standard Anti-Lead set. He's not original, but I find he's extremely useful. Most things I can sweep with this little guy, but if it's something like a Moltres, I go straight to Counter since I can easily get one kill in.
---
Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/176 Def/16 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
Skarmory is your standard spiker set. Now, I find that Skarmory doesn't play any particular role, and is often times out-done by my Mixpert Lead, but I still find it useful when there's a Grass Type (4x resistance FTW). Additionally, If I need it to, I can stall using Skarmory but using Roost, and maybe getting a Brave Bird in here and there, but other than that, Skarmory could use a replacement.
In other words, was Skarmory a good Choice, or does he need a replacement?
---
Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80 Atk/176 Spd/252 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
Go Salamence! This is a generic Mixed Dancer set. First, I obviously use Dragon Dance (and for those whom I think will use protect on turn 1, I use it twice). For the Physically bulky, I use Draco Meteor. Conversely, I use Outrage, or Earthquake. Salamence is also a great late-game sweeper, as I often find that after Lucario and Mixpert, my team starts to crumble until Salamence hits the field.
---
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP/248 Def/12 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Waterfall
- Roar
Yay for sleeping! This is my Rest-talking set, which is again, unoriginal. I find that people are trying to sleep my Gyarados very often, so I simply proceed like I'm not using rest. Roar is for Electric and Rock types, but if the rock type is something slow like Rhyperior, I just use Waterfall (and I've killed every Rhyperior I've seen so far with this Gyarados).
---
Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 176 HP/100 Atk/232 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- U-turn
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
Let's hear it for "Superior UNOriginality". At least I'm not using CBZor.
Scizor is actually on an Ubers Trapper set. He hasn't played much of an integral role, but I find that his presence helps with my former Starmie Weakness. Life Orb Scizor also helped with Starmies thinking I'm Physically bulky.
---
Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Protect
and last is ironically my lead.
Swampert is my MixPert Lead, and depending on the enemy pokemon, I send out either him, or Spikermory. Mixpert is also great against many pokemon due to his typing, and his move coverage. I find that since he's pretty bulky, he doesn't die easily, even though I've been able to sweep with this guy.
Swampert has really been a key member for his ability to set up rocks before he gets instantly killed. Ninjasks and Moltres alike are scared off because of Rocks, which may seem boring, but has really helped my team.
---
and now I'd like to go on to my weaknesses.
Starmies:
Before I had Scizor, I had Rotom. Because I had Rotom, every Starmie I saw completely annihilated me. Seriously. I would kill everything until the last pokemon (Starmie), and the Starmie would kill my team. Entirely.
When I added Ubers Trapperzor, I found that my team was better against Starmies. Ubers Trapperzor was also a great Revenge Killer, and I find he's quite useful against many other pokemon (using U-Turn and Bullet Punch). His Roost also comes in handy....
Pain Split:
HELP ME!!!! Every time I see pain splitters, I go absolutely ballistic. Seriously. Especially when I see Dusknoirs and Gengars, I cannot stand seeing those wretched things. I find that I have virtually no means of defense against them, besides sending out Ubers Trapperzor and hoping that they switch out so I can pursuit-kill them!
Could somebody suggest a Pain split counter that works well with my team? Thanks!
Magnezone?
Seeing as I have 3 steel types on my team, I have a strange feeling that a Magnezone could easily kill me (Magnet Pull).
If somebody finds a way to switch out one of the steel types without causing a detriment to my team, please post my cure here!
Thanks for taking the time to read this RMT. If there are any rule-discrepancies, let me know, because last time, I got warned for having (persay) skeletal individual pokemon descriptions. Thanks!
