Team OFFENSIVE!! RMT

I set out to build a team capable of relentless attacks that would "take apart" and dominate the OU metagame with optimal efficiency. This, I believed could only be achieve through the use of a wide range of types of Pokemon, complementary move sets, "good synergy" as well as encorperating and formulating strategies put forth by many smogon competitive battlers. Unfortunately my team seems to be struggling when my rating it at 1390. I find it hard and mere impossible to push through this barrier of rating in which my team needs to be tweaked to ensure my flaws are minimal.

Metagross @Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Evs: 200 HP / 252 Att / 12 Def / 46 Spd
Nature: Adament
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
Purpose: Leadgross is the ultimate Pokemon to beat many/most of the leads in the OU metagame as well as set up stealth rock. This Pokemon easily walls lead; Arodactyl, heatran (occa berry allows metagross to withstand the most deadly fire attacks and then 1HKO heatran with earthquake) Azelf (meteor mash will almost eliminate Azelf in a single hit however a follow up bullet punch is needed which is extremely effective). This sets up a strong position for the rest of my team. No lead is better in my opinion that I have come across or trialed!

Gyarados @Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 186 Att / 168 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Dragon dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone edge
Purpose: Gyarados is a great dancer and arguably the biggest threat in OU with the possibility to annihilate the opposition within a matter of seconds. I have decided to utilize the jolly gyaradose method. This allows me to combat many threats that initially outspeed gyarados. However after one ddance, Gyarados easily destroys jolteon, electivre with earthquake and stone edge on zapdos will all 1HKO them. Gyarados is a vital member in my team.

Scizor @Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Att / 150 Spc.D
Nature: Adament
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit / Roost
- Brick break
- Swords Dance
Purpose: Scizor is a great finisher! I am often found switching him in to finish off an opponent; along with swords dance, it makes him a formidable opponent to anyone, no matter what type of Pokemon. Scizors deadly bullet punch along with brick break give is a wide coverage of pokemon, allowing it to take down massive defensive threats such as blissey. Now don’t be fooled by the leftovers, scizor generates enough attacking power from a swords dance to become a vicious opponent, life orb only damages his weak Hp allowing him to be swept by various threats. Along with this, it becomes merely impossible to run from scizor, due to the move pursuit. Roost is also being trialled for scizors durability, hence life orb would also be considered if roost was utilised. He is a fantastic asset to my team.

392.png
Infernape @Life Orb
Ability: Blaze EVs:
74 Att / 252 Spd / 184 Spc. A
Nature: Naïve
- Close Combat
- Grass knot / Vacume Wave
- Fire Blast
- HP ice
Purpose: Infernape is a versatile Pokemon, able to wall damaged water types with grass knot and full HP swamperts as well as many steel Pokemon with fire blast and pokemon such as gliscor and flyon with Hp ice. Infernape is an incredible late stage Pokemon when the opposition usually has little to prevent it; along with this infernapes close combat is able to 1HKO all blissey’s faced throughout shoddy battle. Vacume wave is also another option im considering, this is sole to counter a ddance tyranitar, between this and bullet punch the priority allows me to 2HKO it successfully. This is when this mix ape is very dangerous.

448.png
Lucario @Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 Hp / 252 Att / 252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance
Purpose: Lucario is quite the attacking weapon, if used correctly. This move pool allows Lucario to strike with massive damage with Close Combat as well as attack with priority using extremespeed. Match this with speed and you have a demon off the leash. Along with cover move such as crunch which takes down rotom – H!!! (he use to be a massive threat to this team…..unti now :D), it will enable a wider the range of super effectiveness. Lucario has the ability to win the game and destroy your opponent.

488.png
Cresselia @Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 242 Def / 16 Spc. D
Nature: Bold
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Moon Light
- Thunder Wave
Purpose: Cresselia, the crux of my team. Being a solely offensive team beside cresselia, he allows me the luxury to easily sub in and thunder wave the opponent, to then set up a ddance or swords dance. Cresselia not only allows a number of my team members to strike but also does vital damage itself. Thurder waving a gyarados basically eliminates him from battle, proving himself almost entirely useless. This moveset also allows me to cover annoying pokemon such as swampert and flygon even though thunder wave is out of the question. He is my newest member and one im am grateful for.

This is by far my most successful team, however as I mentioned before it becomes stuck as I hit the 1390 mark on shoddy. Suggestion will be greatly appreciated. :)

If u could plz make ur analysis as critical as possible....even the smallest details really do count. However massive changes are also welcome... and maybe even a score out of ten.

u should consider changing ur cresselia to a dual screen variant because it could give ur sweepers more time to set up because of the screens. U could also run lunar dance so that if one of ur sweepers failed to sweep then it could give them a second chance by recovering all their health and pp, albeit at the price of sacrificing ur cress.

Cresselia@light clay
nature: bold
evs: 252 hp/ 60 def/ 44 Sdef/ 152 spe
-reflect
-light screen
-lunar dance
-thunder wave/ice beam/psychic

interesting....but in doing that i would lose an attacking weapon against someone of the likes of flygon......salamence....gliscor.....swampert who are all major threats. I will look into it though

Hi,

this a pretty good offensive team, but I see some flaws:

1) I don't get waht the 46 Spe EVs on Metagross are for, the usual lead Metagross only runs 4 or 8 Spe EVs, so if you want to outspeed them, 12 Spe EVs are usually enough. Put the spare EVs into HP to increase durability.

2) I'd advice to give your Gyarados at least 222 Spe EVs to outspeed naive scarf-Heatran after a DD, just in case your opponent tries to revenge kill Gyara by exploding on it (or with the rare HP electric).

3) I'd suggest to make your Scizor a standard choice bander. You already have a powerful set up sweeper and the immediate power guaranteed by choice band may be necessary to revenge kill some troublesome pokemons like DD-Salamence and Dragonite. So:

Scizor@choice band
nature: adamant
trait: technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
-bullet punch
-superpower
-u-turn
-pursuit

u-turn allows you to scout for your opponent's counter for Scizor and mainly to escape Magnezone. Pursuit will ensure that Latias won't be stopping your Infernape. CB bullet punch will deal massive damage to everything which doesn't resist it, and will be an insurance against life orb Gengar - note that a life orb Gar may be a problem for this team - and the combination of BP and pursuit will take care of it (just beware of HP fire).

4) Infernape does not need max speed, if you want to be sure to outspeed other Ape, just run 200 Spe EVs, though I'd advice to run max SpA. Also, I would probably keep vacuum wave on it to be safe against Lucario.

5) Your own Lucario wants an adamant nature to be an effective wall breaker, with jolly you'll have problems taking down some walls like Swampert and Hippo (though the latter will survive anyway when at full health).

6) I don't really like Cresselia on an offensive team like this. I'd suggest to try Latias in that spot. So:

Latias@life orb
nature: timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-dragon pulse
-calm mind
-surf
-recover

counters Infernape and Heatran nicely and still adds fire power to your team. Cresselia just doesn't fit in this team, so be sure to replace her.

Hope this helps.

GL!

i have found that latias does not suit my team, even the slightest, however ur other suggestions were quite useful. Does anyone else have an idea of wat to put instead of latias/cresselia. I am currently considering ddance t-tar... do u that is a good option.

What's wrong with Latias? Now that I think of it again, you may try to use a scarf Latias instead of the calm mind one I suggested:

Latias@choice scarf
nature: timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-draco meteor
-thunderbolt
-surf
-trick

Looking again at your team I've noticed a pretty huge weakness to Gyarados which can easily set up on most of your pokemons. Scarf Latias solves this problem being able to outspeed it even after a DD and ko with thunderbolt, she also provides a good check\revenge killer for specs-Jolteon. Note that Jolteon and, to a lesser extent, Zapdos are among the few reasons why I don't suggest to try Vaporeon in this spot, otherwise, if you had an electric immunity\resist, then Vaporeon would be a good choice over Cresselia.

I feel this team is deserving of compliments. It definitely has the potential to break past your 1390 barrier. It's really well built. I don't mean any offense, but aside from your Cresselia set, your only problem seems to be prediction. Change up your plan, because your resources are more than fine.

All of Haunter's suggestions are fine. Immediately change the EVs to what he said, however Gyarados isn't in that dire of a need to get it's EVs changed. Heatran exploding on your Gyarados isn't that big of a problem since you can't counter it with anything else :P

Scizor, either go CB or use Roost. It seems to be the one switching into Gengar/Latias at the moment, and you need that survivability if you're SDing. It pays off later.

As for Cresselia, I would never consider Moonlight an option. SS is up about 33~ of the time, which means about one third of the time, it's a waste of a moveslot. Even weak attacks manage 20%. Restalk is the way to go.

If you decide to make the Latias swap, which isn't as bad as you claim (it just changes your play style), I would use

Latias@Specs/Scarf
Timid
Levitate
4 HP, Def, or SpD/252 SpA/252 Spe
• Draco Metoer
• Surf
• Thunderbolt or Recover
• Trick

People are going to disagree with Recover, but being your Infernape counter, it likes it. Close Combat still does like 40%. Also, you're going to be tricking that Scarf whenever Blissey is a threat. I use Recover over Thunderbolt when my team is slower than Infernape, and if it's that bad of an option, I've never had problems with it.

Basically, this tears teams apart. Draco Meteor off specs does insane damage to even steels, since most don't have that high SpD. Surf is nice coverage. Thunderbolt prevents Empoleon from taking advantage of him.

Scarf lets you revenge kill Salamence, and Specs makes it hard for shit to stay alive. Your call.

Either way, that Cress spot should stay weak to dark. If they send in those ridiculous CB Pursuiters, your Lucario just got a free SD ;]

yeehh thats wat i was more looking for....teams running a lot more smoothly!! started a new account ...rating 1470 and climbing hahaha cheers!!!!
