Team Omega!

Hey Smogon! So this is my first time posting on this thread, and I'm fairly new to competitive battling so if this team is a total flop you know why, but I've been using it for a while and for me it's really good! It looks weird at first but I gave it a shot and yeah, so here it is!

Now for the Team Building Process:

I knew I needed a decent lead, and after scrolling through all the possible choices, Heatran caught my eye. His massive Special Attack and Special Defense makes him capable of setting up, taking hits, and dealing them.

My next though was I needed something to take care of all the threats Heatran, and I came across Yanmega and Terrakion, both capable of sweeping and taking care of the walls that cripple Heatran.

Now I needed something to take water and ground type moves, and Gastrodon was the special wall that caught my eye, one water move and she gains a SpA bonus.

After a few test runs with what I had, I realized I had a HUGE Gastrodon weakness (Ironic, right?) and Ferrothorn was my go to guy to getting rid of them while also being able to set up some more hazards

What team is complete without a mixed sweeper? Originally I wanted to go wit h Dragonite but I realized it's only mixed sweeping chances need to be in the rain, and I don't want a weather team, so I went with Salamence, and I don't regret it!

In Depth

heatran1.jpg

Heatran (SolarFlare)
Air Balloon
Flash Fire
Calm
248 HP/ 252 SpD/ 8 Spe
Stealth Rock
Lava Plume
Protect
Toxic
Heatran is a perfect lead, Only fearing Lead Aerodactyl, which you don't see often. With Her (Yes, my heatran's a girl) amazing SpD, a scald from Vaporeon in the rain does't OHKO, and setting up rocks isn't much if a challenge. Lava Plume is for a powerful STAB move and Toxic is for those pesky stat boosters.

terrakion_used_giga_impact_by_salanchu-d3k8sqy.png

Terrakion (Tera Nova)
Choice Band
Justified
Jolly
252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
Close Combat
Stone Edge
X-Scissor
Sacred Sword
Terrakion, wrecks, it, up! There's very little things this dog fears! Only a few physical walls can take a hit from it, the only way this thing is leaving is by getting a faster Pokemon and trying to take it out using water or grass moves. Close Combat and Stone Edge are my go to STAB moves, X-Scissor is for pesky psychic types such as Alakazam and Sacred Swoed is for Cursing Snorlax.

yanmega.jpg

Yanmega (Buzzy)
Life Orb
Speed Boost
Modest
4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Protect
Air Slash
Bug Buzz
Psychic
I Just love Yanmega! It has amazing SpA and after one Speed Boost it out speeds mostly everything in the Metagame. Protect is for the one Speed Boost gain, Air Slash and Bug Buzz are for powerful STAB and Psychic is for Gengar which I hate oh so much!

gastrodoony.jpg

Gastrodon (Sluggy)
Leftovers
Storm Drain
Calm
252 HP/ 4 SpA/ 252 SpD
Ice Beam
Earth Power
Toxic
Recover
Gastrodon, Even though it looks appalling, it's absolutely wonderful! My favorite special tank and always will be! It hates physical attackers though, but Ferrothorn covers that well. Anyway, the moveset is simple, Ice Beam and Earth Power for STAB, Toxic and recover for stalling, everyone hates my Gastrodon.

Ferrothorn (MrTentacle)
Leftovers
Iron Barbs
Relaxed
252 HP/ 4 Atk/ 252 Def
Spikes
Leech Seed
Gyro Ball
Power Whip
Originally I wasn't going to use Ferrothorn, I was going to use Forretress, but I had issues with other Gastrodon, so I decided to switch Forretress with Ferrothorn and man am I happy. This thing can take any hit, unless its a fighting or fire move, but Heatran and Salamence happen to help with that. Spikes is for additional entry hazards, Leech Seed is for additional health recovery, and Gyro Ball and Power Whip are For STAB attacks.

Salamence-dragon-type-6718913-620-494.gif

Salamence (Kalos)
Life Orb
Moxie
Naive
64 Atk/ 192 SpA/ 252 Spe
Earthquake
Draco Meteor
Fire Blast
Outrage
Like Terrakion, Salamence wrecks everything! after one KO, He gets a Moxie boost and is able to kill everything that isn't faster than it, which are normally dealt with by Yanmega. The moveset is for simple coverage for all types and there is very little that resist my menace.

For me the team has worked really well, My big issue is Mach punch, but it isn't that big of a deal, or at least that I can see of. Any suggestions to improve my Team would be helpful :)

I'm aware you probably know this, but you're running a yanmega without a spinner and with a life orb. In addition, your self-proclaimed lead is a heatran whose only attacks are lava plume and toxic. What that basically boils down to is that your yanmega, more often than not, will be switching in with 50% of its life. You write that yanmega is for taking care of walls that trouble heatran, but
A:Salamence seems to do that rather well on its own. It can lure in and demolish bulky waters rather well, either on a predicted fire blast, or on a predicted draco meteor.
B:It's a bulky lava plume heatran. By the time you're done killing stuff that walls it, you've killed over half the enemy's team.
You also say it's for sweeping, but there are so many pokemon that can sweep better than an LO yanmega. It's got multiple counters depending on its set, no way of boosting spAtk, and is murdered by priority of almost any kind, even with the quad-resist on mach punch/vaccum wave.
With all of this said, i'd recommend HEAVILY taking yanmega off. If not, at least change psychic out for hidden power fire/ground. Psychic is literally only stronger against... all i can think of is gengar, because you mentioned him. So psychic removes one check that can't switch into a main STAB move, while Hidden power fire deals nicely with many rather good checks, and hidden power ground crushes a great check, heatran. And that even lets heatran be walled less easily.

Yanmega+Mixmoxmence is the sickest offensive combo of all time. However, you need a spinner to be effective.
The second best partner for Salamence would be Offensive Trick Room Bronzong. I suggest trying that over Yanmega or finding room for a spinner or at least a magic bouncer.

Hey!

I've got some changes for you that will hopefully make your team a lot better.

First, use Leftovers instead of Air Balloon on Heatran. Leftovers is great for Specially Defensive Heatran and it will be able to stay around a lot longer in matches. Heatran can also Toxic Stall much more efficiently. Not much else to say, but Defensive Heatran don't benefit from Air Balloon that much.

Second, swap Gastrodon for Defensive Rapid Spin Starmie. With Salamence as your primary wall breaker, Starmie is an excellent support. Also, your team is looking quite defensive, and I don't think defensive teams can afford to allow opposing teams (especially Deoxys-D teams) to set up and keep entry hazards. Starmie and Ferrothorn should do a fine job at checking Rain teams which is Gastrodon's main use anyway. I think the Rapid Spin support will be much more useful in a wider array of matches than Gastrodon will.

Third, I think you should change Yanmega to Scarf Genesect. Genesect will be a great revenge killer and all around "glue" for your team. U-turn will keep up the pressure against Pokemon like Starmie that try to Spin your hazards. It will also help you against set up Pokemon like Dragonite that you otherwise wouldn't be able to counter. Yanmega is just, for lack of a better word, useless. Its coverage isn't superb, and it's weak to Stealth Rock. I think you need more defensive insurance, and Scarf Genesect is a great catch-all.

Finally, try Quick Attack instead of Sacred Sword on your Choice Band Terrakion. You never know when you'll need to pick off a weakened Tornadus-t or something.

Other than that, good team.

Good luck!
