- Introduction -
Hello guys! I was in the mood of trying something new so I sat down and thought of a few ideas, I had already tried Baton Pass, weather teams, Trick Room and all that good stuff. But I wanted to do something kinda original this time around so I surfed the smogon strategydex and saw a few Pokemon I would like to put in my team one day. These Pokémon were Empoleon and Roserade. I never really noticed Roserade until it became OU not too long ago and it seemed like a pretty good lead, upon further investigation I saw the Empoleon Agility + Three Attacks set. It looked pretty good and works well with Roserade, so I based my team around that.
Thanks for reading this, I hope you enjoy my RMT and all rates/comments are very much appreciated!
- Team Building Process -
1. Well I set out to build this team with a goal in mind, to pull of a sweep with Empoleon. I read in the description of Empoleon's set that Toxic Spikes are essential if I wanted to get a sweep going. So I thought: Roserade. I wanted to use it for a long time so I added it to my team.

2. So now that I had my lead, I needed a pokemon that could easily scare away its threats. I had to choose between Infernape and Heatran. I went with Infernape because Blissey and to a lesser extent, Snorlax, proved very troublesome towards this team.

3. Now that I had my lead properly secured, I thought to myself that Stealth Rock Support would do wonders for this team. I thought about possible candidates, but Swampert stood out. He can come in on any Ground attack or Fire attack aimed at either Infernape or Roserade respectively and set up rocks. He also carries Roar which can prove useful.

4. I have Stealth Rock support now and his weaknesses are handled pretty well. So all I'm missing is some Screens. I wanted Dual Screen support on this team so I had to choose between Uxie and Cresselia. I thought long and hard but then I realised there was a Pokémon that can set up screens AND block Rapid Spin. This Pokémon is Rotom-a, and Rotom-a is very useful because it doesnt share the same weaknesses as Latias, unlike Uxie and Cresselia.

5. I have screens now, woot. So I need something that can abuse 'em like hell. So I thought about CM sweepers, I thought about Suicune/Latias were options. Mesprit and Blissey even came to mind suprisingly. But I still decided to go with Latias, mainly because of its immense speed and type coverage.

6. So the last slot was obvious, it had to be occupied by the main character....Empoleon! Yes, Empoleon is the star of the show here, as this whole team was constructed to help it pull off a sweep. Electric moves are absorbed by Swampert, Ground absorbed by Latias, Cresselia, Fighting absorbed by the same pokemon!

I will just say it, Roserade is a kickass lead. It has everything you would want. Reliable Spiking, the speed to pull off the Sleep Powder first, and moves that can screw the other lead over such as Leaf Storm for Swampert and Hippowdon (Which are normally very annoying towards nearly EVERY team I build) I used Hidden Power Ground instead of Fire because Heatrans often switch into me thinking I can be walled when I can really own them with a Hidden Power. I have Infernape to handle Scizor so HPFire wasn't really necessary. Toxic Spikes are a huge plus towards any team especially when you are working with sweepers such as Empoleon, I wanted this team to use Toxic Spikes to their fullest potential and with Roserade I can make this possible. Since it has the speed to get a Sleep Powder off I am always garunteed at least one layer of Toxic Spikes.

Out of all the Infernape sets I've used, this is the most useful I've come across. The reason being is that I find with Infernape its always easily walled with a pokemon such as Cresselia, well I have U-Turn now so I can easily scout the team with this. It makes a great partner to Roserade by killing Scizor and other steel types. Scarftran thinks it can outspeed and kill me, well I have priority thanks to Mach Punch so Heatran is no threat to this set. In the right circumstances you can actually sweep late game with it. Apart from that the rest of its moves are pretty self-explanitory. Close Combat hits almost everything and I get STAB on it. Along with Overheat for that great STAB boost (Not to mention higher accuracy than Fire Blast) which lowers my Sp atk which doesn't really make a difference to me since the rest of its moves are physical anyway.

Standard Mixpert Lead, I'm sure you all are familier with it, but I'll give you a run through of it anyway. Swampert makes a great partner to Infernape and Roserade, it can easily come in on a resisted attack and set on much needed Stealth Rocks. I went with Roar because its the most useful option easily. I never use Surf in battle because it provides to little coverage especially when Ground/Ice type combo provided by Earthquake and Ice Beam is enough for me. Having rock support along with the T-Spikes just gives me the best of both worlds, just having simple entry hazards can prove very useful in battle. Swampert also works very well wit Empoleon since it can absorb the very common electric attack that always seems to get thrown at it.
ImakeItHot (Rotom-h) @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 Spd

So this is the Pokémon that sets up the well needed screens. I was suggested to use this by a friend since Cresselia would add much too many weaknesses to be used with Latias. So I decided to used Dual Screens on a Rotom-a, I went with Rotom-h because Lucario could be a giant ass to this team if I didn't have Agility up on my Empoleon. Evs are stolen from the Standard Rotom-h set, 88 speed is to outspeed Adamant Lucario and Scizor who otherwise annoy me. Bold nature is used just like in the standard set, only thing that has changed is the moves. I had only one free spot and that had to the be taken up by either Discharge or Shadow Ball, I went with Discharge because 30% Parylisis is something that the team really needed if it wants to sweep things.

So this is the Pokémon that will try to abuse the screens as much as possible. The strategy behind this set is pretty straight forward. Sub up on an attack that can't hurt Latias, CM up and proceed to sweep behind sub and screens. This is where Toxic Spikes and Rocks come in, this Pokémon is going to get a few kills so the opponent will be constantly switching their Pokémon into the Spikes and Rocks, giving me a bit of extra damage and putting the opponent into KO range. I've had so many ragequits from kids on shoddy going mad when I sub up, because its the last thing they expect to see on a Latias. Everyone will think its bog standard CM set or Scarf or something like that, when there is actually a strategy behind it.
EndGame (Empoleon) (M) @ Life Orb

Like I said before, Empoleon is the main man and the star of the the team. When you see this Empoleon, it means the end of the game is near, because it basically symbolises the end of the battle. I had my eye on The Agility SubPetaya Empoleon set for quite a while but I was a little disconcerned as to how easily it would get walled. So I decided to switch to the Agility+Three Attacks set, which proved to have massive coverage in battle since I can have Grass Knot and Ice Beam in the one set now, giving me the best of both worlds. Apparently, Grass Knot on Empoleon is "unexpected" I can't count the kids who've switched a Swampert into this lol.
