Team phazer stall

Whats more obnoxious than three layers of spikes, two layers of toxic spikes, and stealth rock? Three phazers which constantly force you to switch into them. I've liked stallish teams for a while, but have never gone all out on focusing on entry hazard abuse. I decided to go for it with this team and the results have not disappointed.

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
472.png

Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/16 Def/224 Spd/16 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

This is one of my favorite builds in the game because it serves so many useful purposes. A slight final slot adjustment allows it to become a wicked stallbreaker which things like Blissey and Skarmory despise facing. It also is a really good lead due to its above average speed AND bulk, a rare combination. Special Defensive EVs may seem odd but it serves one very very very important purpose. It assures a standard lead mixpert with 4 SpA EVs will never OHKO Gliscor, dealing a maximum of 99.6% damage, allowing gliscor to even roost stall ice beam til it gets to the safer range of 25% before switching out. I usually try not to get gliscor killed because he has a lot of utility in the late game because he can do useful things like prevent last poke snorlax from sweeping.

Suicune @ Leftovers
245.png

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/244 Def/12 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Roar
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Resttalk shuffle Suicune is quite a nuisance for my opponent, and is my primary phazer. Surf is the old reliable STAB, while resttalk gives it an annoyingly massive survivability. Roar is of course to move the opponent around. When asleep, suicune can even shuffle the opponent before they even move given that they are slower, granting me a completely free turn. Extra speed is for the "just because" reason because i despise speed ties.

Forretress (F) @ Leftovers
205.png

Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/44 Atk/212 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Payback
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes

Specially defensive forretress is simply awesome, it can switch into draco meteors for my team if im stuck in a situation where something has to switch into it. Spikes and Tspikes are its bread and butter, giving my phazers some bite every time they decide to roar away the opponent. Payback allows it to kill bulky ghosts like dusknoir or psychics like latias, though if a heat rotom shows up that isnt showing leftovers i typically switch to Tyranitar to pursuit it to death. Rapid spin is great because my team likes being able to switch freely, maximizing the useage of its bulk.

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Spr_b_g4_479O.png

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Will-o-wisp
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Resttalk Rotom solves Rotom's constant problem of no recovery while granting me a solution to rapid spinners and bulky DD gyarados. Discharge was chosen over thunderbolt because of the 30% paralysis rate and Will-o-wisp is to burn annoying Ttars and anything else with high attack, really. It also allows Rotom to escape pursuiting scarftars by burning them, resting off the damage, and then switching out or just outright killing them. The heat forme was chosen to scare away opposing steel types, namely Scizor.

Tyranitar (F) @ Choice Scarf
248.png

Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Scarftar is awesome, not only does he give me a trick absorber... he annihilates all common users of trick as well as common spin blockers like the Rotom forms. I opted for superpower over Earthquake because i wanted to be able to kill non-scarfed Ttars better, though a jolly DDer can prove iffy due to the speed tie. Lastly, he sets up sandstorm which while not directly beneficial to most of my team (gliscor aside) it can help with the stalling process significantly.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
380.png

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 204 HP/128 Def/176 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Roar

Latias is my primary special sponge as well as yet another phazer for my team. This is a slight alteration of the Defensive calm mind with the bulkier spread used and roar instead of refresh which serves the dual purpose of countering opposing phazers and racking up yet more entry hazard damage. Latias Bulk allows it to scout opposing scarftars for pursuit by immediately using recover (if at full health). If crunch is used, i simply switch out.

OLD POKES (no longer in use)

From v 1.0

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
227.png

Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/160 Def/32 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Toxic/Spikes/<insertfillerhere>
- Whirlwind

Replaced by Sleeptalk Shuffle Suicune.

Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
134.png

Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 60 HP/252 Def/168 Spd/30 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Wish
- Protect
- Roar

Replaced by sleeptalk Rotom-H

--------------------------------------

Thanks for taking the time to read this article. Please be sure to give it a rate, even negative ones help (just dont get insulting). As a side note, I have a slight issue at the moment as Latias is looking like it might be getting the banhammer and i might end up having to replace her to maintain the team being OU. So if anyone could suggest something with similar resists, reliable recovery, and the ability to phaze id appreciate it. Ive considered dragonite but i dont like his massive ice weakness.

This team has major problems with Taunt Gyarados and Dragon Dance Salamence. Both outspeed your entire team after a single Dragon Dance, and nothing is stopping them from sweeping.

A simple solution for this is to make your Latias a scarf Latias:

Latias @ Choice Scarf
Timid Nature
EVs: 4HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Thunderbolt
-Surf
-Trick

She outspeeds Gyarados and Salamence, even after a DD, and KOs them with Thunderbolt and Draco Meteor respestively. Giving your team a TrickScarfer also helps against troublesome sweepers.

Having two choiced Pokemon on a stall team may seem unappealing, so you may also change your Tyranitar to BaitTar:

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
Hasty Nature
EVs: 252 Atk/48 SpA/208 Spe
-Crunch
-Pursuit
-Superpower
-Fire Blast

Fire Blast fries any Scizor/Skarmory/Forretress that gets in your way, and the other moves are just standard Ttar moves.

Good luck!

One major thing that I noticed is that you lack a rs block. Your entry hazards won't be so threatening when they are gone. And beleive me, it will take alot of effort to set up all of the entry hazards you suggest.

I would swap out vaporeon for a bulky Dusknoir. Easy rapid spin block with strong defences, and I would also go for a bulkier version of ttar. His current set, other than trick absorbing doesn't really add to your team. Sure it absorbs trick, but your opponent is still left with the move trick and a choice item for later.

Hello KarateF22.

I would like to address, as others have stated as well, that you lack a Rapid Spin blocker. It would rather be unfortunate if you set up Stealth Rock, three layers of Spikes, and 2 layers of Toxic Spikes only to get them spun away. I suggest using a Rotom-A over Vaporeon.

Rotom-A @ Leftovers | Levitate
Bold | 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spe
Thunderbolt / Will-O-Wisp / Rest / Sleep Talk

Use any Rotom-A you feel like using that can help your team. If you opt for the heat forme, then you can scare away Scizor and Forretress. Cut forme for Swampert, etc. Vaporeon and Rotom play a similar role in countering Gyarados. With your current team, Taunt Gyarados can be a threat as Vaporeon and Latias can no longer phaze it out. Latias and Vaporeon also play similar roles in which they counter Infernape and take on Fire-type attacks. The EVs allow you to outspeed max Speed Adamant Scizor and Adamant Tyranitar and burn them before they hit you.

Now looking over the team, Dragon Dance Salamence looks like a big threat. Vaporeon cannot take a +1 Life Orb Outrage very well and has a high chance of being OHKOed after Stealth Rock. Faster Taunt Gliscor with Toxic is also a threat as it can stop everything on your team except Latias but she doesn't like Toxic. To fix this I suggest using a Suicune.

Suicune @ Leftovers | Pressure
Bold | 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Surf / Ice Beam / Calm Mind / Rest

I think you should use this over Skarmory as you already have a Spiker in Forretress, you seem to want all three layers, and Rapid Spin is beneficial. With the given EVs it is able to take a +1 Life Orb Outrage and retaliate with Ice Beam. Gliscor cannot outstall it and if it tries to stop your Rest with Taunt, you can strike it back with Ice Beam. Calm Mind will also give you another win condition and works quite nicely with Toxic Spikes.

Hope I helped!

Having foretress AND Skarmory both with leftovers means any team with magnezone will literally shit on you (aka be 2 pokemon up until it dies). I'd change one of their items to the shed shell so at least one can be saved from it.

Actually replacing skarmory for something else would probably be the best course of action since skarmory and foretress are extremely redundant. 2 candidates:

1. Use a suicune. You could always utilize suicune as a roarer with something like surf/roar/rest/sleeptalk (last 2 moves can be whatever) if you wanted to as well.

2. Use Rotom-H, the primary spin blocker to make sure those spikes stay down.

In reality you could probably use both and replace latias and skarmory with those two. If it doesn't work you could always switch back :D

Team updated. Skarmory replaced by Suicune while Vaporeon was replaced with Rotom-H... could use a few more comments on the alterations, be they positive or negative. If the teams good, a simple "looks good" will work. If not, suggest how to improve it.

*Edit* I guess this counts as my "bump"
