Team Random Slaps

Hello everyone, welcome to my current UU team! This team (surprisingly) has gotten my second place in a recent wifi tournament. As the title suggests, this team was slapped together with some Pokemon that I thought were performing well in UU at the time. However, that time was before the coming of Donphan and Dugtrio and the return of Honchkrow. None of them seem to have caused a major difference in this team's performance, but newer sets definitely have. I know that this team has lots of room for improvement.

===================================

This team hardly has a goal. Like I said earlier, this team was constructed from random Pokemon that just came to be somewhat successful. If this team did have a true objective, I'd say it was to weaken the opponent's team enough that sweepers like Rotom and Absol can finish them off.

@ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
-Stealth Rock
-Rock Slide
-Thunder Wave
-Earthquake

My lead, Regirock, does a pretty good job at... leading. I hate facing Yanmega and Moltres so I always try to get Stealth Rock up as soon as possible. He's successful in this task against leads like Uxie, Steelix, Roserade, and Typhlosion. Against others such as Ambipom and Electrode, I'll usually use Rock Slide and Earthquake respectively just in case of a Taunt. Yanmega and Moltres leads are my favorite. If Yanmega stays in to Hypnosis, Lum Berry wakes me up to Rock Slide his ass; and if Moltres doesn't switch out, she'll get hit with a Rock Slide as well. Thunder Wave hasn't been of tremendous use, but it does come in handy later in the game.

@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Ice
-Trick

Choice Scarf Rotom is a really great revenge killer in UU. He can take out many threats to this team like Speed Boost Yanmega, DD Altaria, Rock Polish Torterra, Milotic, and opposing Rotom after they've been weakened a bit. Scarf Rotom is always a big surprise; most people only suspect Specs since he lacks leftovers recovery. It feels good to Trick my Scarf onto opposing Chansey and Registeel that come in to wall me. He also serves as a switch-in to the Fighting attacks aimed at Absol.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Sludge Bomb
-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Sleep Powder

Oh, how I love my SubSeed Roserade. Leech Seed + Sleep Powder + Sub makes Roserade very annoying. Because of her moveset, she doesnt have much trouble taking on foes that she can outspeed. Sleep Powder on turn 1 and Leech Seed on turn 2 whether my opponent stays in or decides to switch. If Roserade is faster than her opponent, Leech Seed + Sub slowly but surely chips away at her opponent's HP. Sludge Bomb is my attack of choice due to STAB and pretty fair coverage. Not too many wanna switch into a STAB Sludge Bomb. Something to absorb the occasional Toxic Spikes is nice, too.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
-Fake Out
-Mach Punch
-Close Combat
-Pursuit

Hitmontop serves mainly to take out severly weaken foes with Fake Out and Mach Punch. Pursuit gives me something to do against SubRotom and Calm Mind Mismagius. Close Combat is hardly of any use, but comes in handy against Clefable. I'm thinking about trying Rapid Spin over Close Combat since Stealth Rock + Spikes has become more and more common.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Huge Power
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Atk / 8 Spe
-Waterfall
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Aqua Jet

Azumarill is surprisingly bulky, being able to create 101 HP Substitutes and gives me an answer to Blaziken. He's got 8 speed EV's so he can put up a Sub before Chansey can Toxic or Thunder Wave. Azumarill is also able to take on Miltoic without Hidden Power since it takes two Surfs to break his Subs while he gets to fire off two Focus Punches. Again, Aqua Jet is there to finish off weakened foes.

@ Life Orb
Ability: Super Luck
Nature: Adamant (+Atk , -SpA)
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Night Slash
-Sucker Punch
-Superpower

Absol, my sweeper of choice is usually saved for late games when his counters are either gone or severly weakened. Absol's got the strongest priority move in the game and with a Swords Dance under his belt, he's a tough one to take down. Night Slash was chosen over Psycho Cut to give me a powerful STAB move in case my opponent tries to switch otherwise trying to avoid my Sucker Punch.

And that's all I got, hope you can help me!

Problems:

synergy

How to fix:

Honestly speaking, this is a very great UU team, a team where I can't find any major flaws. The problems? well there are no major ones, but teams like this might have a harder time penetrating through a solid stall team. This is highly capable of beating stall, i know but I just have a couple of suggestions to make it a little better since this got little appreciation. I will start by saying going for Spikes over Sleep Powder on Roserade. This might be a big jump but since Roserade is normally forcing switch-outs on guys like Milotic and Slowbro, finding time to get a spike is no problem. With SR + 3 layers of spike, it makes life easier for Absol to sweep as well as Rotom. Rotom is a great treasure in the team, blocking off unwanted Rapid Spin users, so defenitley keep that. Also checks those guys you mentioned. As for my last suggstion, give Azumarill Ice Punch as a try-out. It hits Altaria, without having to heavily rely on Rotom. Imagine your opponent using Outrage first, severely damaging your top core (Rotom) and possibly KOing it. Ice Punch will hit it off the bat. It also lets you combat with Venusaur and Roserade, behind a sub. overall gl with this, this is very good

You're definitely correct in thinking that this team has a hard time with stall. Spiritomb and Clefable in particular give this team problems.

I'm really liking Spikes on Roserade and am not missing Sleep Powder much. There have been a few times where Azumarill's Aqua Jet would have come in handy, but I'll keep testing Ice Punch.

Thanks for the help!

Also, a friend of mine not (yet?) on Smogon is helping me test this team, so I'd just like to say thanks in case you read this =]

maybe try explosion on regirock for late-game rather than thunder wave?
i would think taking someone out would be a bit better than just crippling its speed so someone else can take it out.

how does roserade do against things like registeel and steelix with only sludge bomb?
do they even switch into her often?
that's the only problem i can see. i do prefer sludge bomb for things like gengar, but usually that's with other attacks in conjunction with it.

i would definitely use rapid spin over close combat on hitmontop. i've never had a time i could really use it and i might even suggest choice band or life orb over leftovers for some extra power with your priority moves.
leftovers isn't a bad item though. i'd just test each to see how you do or just keep an eye on things that might have died if you had a bit more power, then it might be a good idea to switch items

and that azu set is evil. i'm definitely going to have to steal it. :D
