Team RegiBro (UU)

Team RegiBro

Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my team. I just took my first steps into competitive battling, and its looking scary. I’m able to beat some teams with these sets (I beat an Uber team :) and I'm wondering how to improve it. Thanks!

BUILDING PROCESS

I first started off with Slobro and registeel, after seeing the combo in a Ruby/Sapphire team. I figured that they could do well in D/P, SO I gave them a shot. They have great synergy, taking each others weak points. SlowBro is also a very usful tank, and Registeel has some great Iron head Hax to work with.

Next I needed a Leading Pokémon. Looking through Smogon, I saw that Spiritomb was I viable lead, and could do MASSIVE damage to many others (Damage calculations are here). He is also a very good spin blocker.

Sweeping Came next. Hitmonlee has always been a favourite of mine, Especially in Re/Blue when the elemental punches were worthless to his Brother. Another Quality was Mach punch, as it gains stap, has good coverage, and is priority. Venisaur was put in because of his Defence, and His Special attack. He also happened to be my favourite Starter in Red/Blue.

Moo. Miltank was put in after a long, hard deliberation between her and Ambipom. Her Milk Drinking and Heal Belling Won me. She has also proven to be very useful against Sweeping Mismagius, as scrappy + curse is a viable Destruction Bot. This is my Shoddy battle team AS WELL AS my in-game team.

Spiritomb (F) @ Spell Tag

Ability: Pressure

EVs: 244 HP/48 Atk/12 Spd/204 SAtk
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Will-o-wisp

My Lead. She is in his spot because it’s my main Anti-lead. From the 15 or so battles I have completed, she takes down most frostlass with Shadow ball and any Normal types with a HP Fighting. Will-o-Wisp is for the 12% it takes every turn, and the –25% (I think) attack it gives. Shadow sneak it to Finish things off, particularly when they are faster than me. (She's Not that fast, carring base 35 speed.)

Hitmonlee (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Limber
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Substitute

My Physical Sweeper. Useful for middle-late game sweeping, and also if an Ugly steel type comes up. Close combat is His first up move, because he's so fast. Earthquake is for any Fire types, and Stone edge is for Moltres and Other flying types. Mach Punch Is usually the only move I need, unless a Ghost comes along to ruin my fun.

---

Venusaur (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Leaf Storm
- Sleep Powder

My Main Special sweeper. Most people use him for his swords dancing, physical sweeping fun, however, I prefer leaf storm and Sludge bomb because his SpA is very much higher, and I don’t have to let the opponent get a free turn while I set up. Synthesis is to help heal, and however I've noticed a large increase (from 5 - 6 battles ago :P) in the number of dancing teams. Leech seed could go in here instead. Sleep powder has come in handy, as he's somehow faster than most of his counters. I’m considering a White herb to help deal with Leaf storm’s lowering.

---

Slowbro (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP/100 Def/6 SAtk/152 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Slack Off
- Surf
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave

Ah yes, The Regi-Bro set. I first saw this while going through the site, and it’s been working. Slobro is a very, VERY bulky water type, and many things run at first sight. His high Special Attack with HP and slack-off mean He can out Stall almost anything, and Psychic gain much needed neutral coverage on most things. Surf deals with anything else. Thunder wave is there as filler, and can help him outrun things. It’s happened. Once.

---

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/100 Atk/156 SDef
Careful nature (+SpD, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave

The other Brother. He can switch into poison, bug, ghost, dark, and T.Bolts that Slowbro can’t handle. Sismic toss is for the straight damage, and it means I don't have to dump any EV's into attack. Shadow claw is for those damn ghosts who switch into Sismic toss. Stealth rock is for the hazards. T.Wave is for paralysis, and the 25% speed drop. Lefties is for recovery, because he has no other way of reliable (I dont call wishes reliable.) recovering.

---

Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP/136 Def/122 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Milk Drink
- Curse
- Heal Bell
- Body Slam

You may think this is a tank. It’s a yes and no. The Milk Drink Solves my stalling Problem If my Slobro Is gone, and Curse can help it to survive longer against Physical sweepers and give it some attack boosts. Heal bell is almost like wish, as it removes status instead or healing. Other options to Miltank are Chansey and Mismagius (Can learn Heal Bell), however Scrappy Allows it to Hit any ghost type, and many Ghosts don’t have the Defence to take it.

No threat list as of yet, BUT I will post one when I face more threats. Only one I can think of right now is a CB rotom. 6-0 by that thing. Wasn’t pretty.

Again, Thanks for the View!

I'm not really into UU battling atm, but at first glance this seems like a pretty decent team. You really need to solve that Rotom problem. Also, run Adamant on Registeel instead of Modest. Modest LOWERS its Attack and benefits its SPECIAL Attack. Adamant is the other way around. That's about all I have right now. Might do a more in-depth analysis later on.

I think you should give Registeel Stealth Rock over Thunder Punch, since you really aren't going to hurt many Water-types with it anyway. Stealth Rock will probably help you more against Flying-types than Thunder Punch will, anyway. Also, with Moltres and Scyther all over the place these days it will be a great help, especially considering that your team doesn't handle either of them particularly well.

As far as Mean Look Umbreon goes, you could just change your strategy a bit to avoid having to run Shed Shell on Registeel, since he has no recovery without Leftovers. When you see Umbreon, go to Hitmonlee if it has Leftovers, and Miltank if it doesn't (because it probably has a Chople berry). Hitmonlee will simply KO lefties versions before than can pass, while Miltank is a good choice because he: 1. Won't be Toxic stalled if you play it right and 2. poses enough of a threat with Curse that your opponent probably won't be able to set up +6 on you and sweep. This way, you keep Leftovers on Registeel. If you're really really enamored with Shed Shell, I'd recommend adding Wish support somewhere so Registeel has a chance to recharge.

To help with Rotom, you could replace Miltank with Umbreon. He can run a set that is extremely similar (Curse, Payback, Wish, Heal Bell), only has 1 more weakness (bug), and can deal with Rotom effectively through Synchronize and Dark STAB. The main downside is that he loses to Scyther, so you'd really really want to keep that Registeel healthy. He also provides the Wish support I mentioned earlier.

Maybe change your Registeel's nature to Careful, so it can take Special Attacks better. It's not dishing out much damage even with Adamant anyway.

Also, any reason for that Slowbro EV spread? Maybe should just use the standard 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp.D with a Bold nature, as Registeel should take much Special Attacks on Slowbro with ease anyway

Problems:

Moltres and Blaziken
Substitute Rotom
nature

How to fix:

You can fix this by replacing your Slowbro with Slowking to effectively deal with Moltres and Blaziken. The set is the same: Thunder Wave / Surf / Psychic / Slack Off with the EVs 252 Hp / 100 Def / 152 SpD with a Calm nature. This is essentially the same concept but its a better version for combating with mixed Blaziken and Moltres. Slowbro has an extremely high chance of fainting from Fire Blast + Hidden Power Grass, or in Moltres' case Air Slash + Hidden Power Grass.

You can solve this Sub Rotom issue with a simple tweak to Registeel's movesets: Shadow Claw and Seismic Toss over Iron Head and Earthquake. Shadow Claw means that Substitute Rotom will never set up Sub and Charge beam on you, while Seismic Toss compliments this coverage. The stuff you are checking will still be the same; Mismagius is hurt by Shadow Claw and Raikou is hurt by Seismic Toss. With this said, you don't need Adamant, go for Careful to maximize your special walling prowess.

The natures are going to screw you up somewhat. Timid nature on Venusaur is probably best so you can speed-tie with opposing Venusaurs. If Registeel is asleep (which is the likely situation), you need to check it with Venusaur of your own. Sleep Powder on a speed-tie would be beneficial for you. You don't need Sassy on Slowbro, go for Calm nature. A jolly nature on Hitmonlee would be beneficial as well, it holds a nice speed point so take advantage of that.

As for other options, try your hands on this effective Hitmonlee set Thund runs. Sub / Close Combat / Stone Edge / Sucker Punch with Lefties. With Hitmonlee being one of your few physical attacking guys, I think lefties will work out for the extra survivability. it still hits hard so don't worry. Substitute on something, if a Ghost comes in, they are forced to attack you, this is where Sucker Punch comes in. overall gl. ▲
