Hello all, I've been meaning to give this a go for a long time, I've played for a long time, on and off, and I think I've got a good team going. Criticism encouraged.
PS: I'll keep track of strengths and weaknesses as I go so you can see how the chemistry works
Preview:
Tyranitar
Heatran
Swampert
Bronzong
Gliscor
Aerodactyl
Tyranitar:
EVs: HP: 6, Attack: 252, Speed: 252
Jolly @ Lum Berry
Crunch
Dragon Dance
Taunt
Stone Edge
Point: He's the core of the team, max speed + Lum Berry lets him get a jump with a Taunt or DD on more starters (since a fast sleeper won't work). He gets the ball rolling and it should be obvious why he's here. In the worst case he starts and switches to one of many capable team mates and just gets the sand going to come back another day.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
Heatran:
IVs: Attack: 28 keeping it legal and nothing important lost
EVs: HP: 4, Special Attack: 252, Speed: 252
Lonely @ Choice Scarf
Dragon Pulse
Earth Power
Explosion
Fire Blast
Point: Scarftran brings the speed and revenge killing. Despite compounding the Fighting and Ground weaknesses, he brings key special offense to compliment the overall theme of this team.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
-Varied attack spectrum
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
-Compounded type weaknesses
-A tad predictable
Swampert
EVs: HP: 240, Special Attack: 52, Defense: 216
Relaxed @ Leftovers
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Roar
Surf
Point: A defensive stalwart. He fills big shoes on the team since he fills needs all around. Phazing, Mixed Attacking, general bulk, Swampert is a key member of the team who compliments Heatran very well.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
-Varied attack spectrum
-Bulk due to stats
-Can stop multiple kinds of threats
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
-Mediocre type resists
-Sligthly predictable
Bronzong
IVs: Speed 0 (Gyro Ball)
EVs: HP: 252, Attack: 86, Defense: 80, Special Defense: 92
Sassy @ Leftovers
Levitate
Earthquake
Gyro Ball
Hypnosis
Stealth Rock
Point: Compliments the team's typing, gives Stealth Rock support and is more than bulky enough to spam some hypnosis later in the game.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
-Varied attack spectrum and damage dealing
-Bulk due to stats
-Complimentary type resists
-Can stop multiple kinds of threats
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
-Sligthly predictable
Gliscor
EVs: HP: 252, Attack: 40, Speed: 216
Jolly @ Yache Berry
Sand Veil
Earthquake
Roost
Areial Ace
Swords Dance
Point: More bulk but Gliscor can be a big threat late game if Sandstorm stays up. Sand Veil + good speed + Yache Berry means an easy swords dance which lets his great type coverage shred the remains of the foe. Roost lets him come in at early points to use his bulk and Sand Veil to annoy opponents.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
-Varied attack spectrum and damage dealing
-Great Bulk
-Complimentary type resists
-Can stop multiple kinds of threats
-Most pokemon can defend well and break some skulls
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
-A bit predictable
-Lacks wall breaking
Aerodactyl
EVs: HP: 72, Attack: 216, Defense: 80 Speed: 136, Special Defense: 4
Lonely @ White Herb
Pressure
Curse
Earthquake
Roost
Stone Edge
Point: The coup de grace. Late game with wall breakers out and sandstorm still around and Aerodactyl can't be stopped. A quick curse (cured by White Herb) and roost give impressive bulk adding in pressure to stall out moves with low PP remaining.
Running Strengths:
-Capable of sweeping from the get go
-Sandstorm
-Varied attack spectrum and damage dealing
-Potential bulk across the board
-Complimentary type resists
-Can stop multiple kinds of threats
-Varying styles within each pokemon make it hard to counter everyone
-Hard to finish the team off
Running Weaknesses:
-Big risk for a key part of a Sandstorm team
-Lacks natural wall breaking
Pokemon/Type Weaknesses:
-Bronzong: If Heatran goes down, it's up to Swampert to kill Bronzong which is not ideal. Tyranitar has an outside chance at best.
-Breloom: Swords Dance + Mach Punch + Seed Bomb pretty much stops this team cold, particularly if Heatran goes down. Gliscor can scare him off with Aerial Aces and good speed though. If Breloom doesn't have Seed Bomb and opts for Stone Edge then Swampert also can keep him at bay. Still a big threat most of the time.
-Fighting type: Tyranitar, Heatran are key and only Gliscor resists
-Ground type: See above, despite 3 immunities
Summary: A more defense team but everyone can chip in offensively. If any of them get going, any single pokemon except Bronzong and Swampert can break a team in two. A few surprises and role diversity keep opponents guessing. Hinging on T-tar and Scarftran is risky, but more often than not it will work.
I look forward to comments!
