[Overview] Hello everybody, this is my Wifi Ubers team. It took about 3 weeks solid to round, sharpen, and perfect. It peaked at #9 on the pokemon online server. This team was based on the rare combo of Skarmory (dedicated physical wall) and Chansey (dedicated special wall) to create the ultimate balanced team. It is a heavy hazard team, with incredible spin blocking support. It is very fun to play, mainly for the incredible surprise factor. The core really complements each other, and for a little extra zest, custom ev spreads are used. I must say that the success on this team depended solely on the Smogon Ubers guide (LINK:http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/uber_battling_adv ) even though the guide is outdated, it still proved very as a very effective searchlight, seeing as I still had the UU mindset. Without further ado here is the team.
THE TEAM BUILDING PROCESS
The team is mainly a balanced team utilizing Skarmory and Chansey, that being said they both earned their spot on the team as both physical and special walls. The spot Chansey used to occupy was taken up by Blissey, but I wasn’t satisfied with it, so I tried out her younger sister *giggity* and she worked out perfectly.
I needed a resttalk pivot to deal with darkrai leads, so mono attacking Kyogre was a shoo-in. He adds some nice bulk to this team, along with providing my team with a late game sweeper. He also provides my team with a weather changer which is vital in the Ubers enviroment.
This team is not only walled by Blissey or Chansey at this point, it also lacks a spin blocker. SubCM Giratina-O seems like the perfect fit. He sets up on Chansey or Blissey, and provides my team with an essential spin blocker. Since he has no reliable recovery, Chansey can heal him up with wish in a pinch. His spot was originally taken by Arceus-Ghost, but Arceus left me too open to Chansey or Blissey.
I needed a powerful revenge killer, preferably steel type, and I needed it to be able to take advantage of Kyogre’s rain AND I needed it to be able to take down the bain of my life-Ferrothorn. Scarf Dialga was the perfect fit for this team.
For the lead spot, just about anything did it for me, to be honest I just sorta threw this guy on my team , expecting him to be good, fortunately for me he was better than good-he was great! This pokemon was Darkrai.
THE OVERVIEW
Darkrai @ Focus Sash
Trait: Bad Dreams
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 248 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Void
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast
[Overview]
Darkrai has really lived up to my expectations as the premier anti lead. This guy can 6-0 the opponent without breaking a sweat. He is almost sure to knock out 2-3 pokemon, and to incapatate at least one with dark void. He is almost never hampered by his frailty, because he totes a focus sash. He has almost no counters, except the sleep clause, because he was meant as a suicide lead. He wrecks focus sash users with his ability-bad dreams. He also helps me scout the opponent’s team by forcing multiple switches.
[Moves and ev‘s]
Darkrai is ev’ed for max special attack and speed a jolly nature is used because he is boosting his special attack with nasty plot. His moves provide perfect neutral coverage. Dark void is for putting opponents to sleep and to break their sashes, it is also used to give nasty plot set up time, and to put bulkier opponents to sleep to allow Darkrai to chip away at their health.
Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Softboiled
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss
[Overview]
Chansey is vital to this team because so many Ubers are special attackers. She can wall anything from Specs Kyogre to Scarf Palkia. She works nicely in conjunction with Giratina, and Skarmory by providing both wish support, and special walling capabilities.
The only problem with Chansey is that she can takes physical hits very poorly, and most physical Ubers could knock her out even WITH the defence ev’s.
[Moves an ev’s]
Chansey with max hp and special defence investment only takes about 44-56% from Specs Kyogre’s water spout. Like said before, no defence investment is needed because even with the defence ev’s, Chansey will still take heavy damage. Wish and Protect allow Chansey to survive longer, wiliest providing wish support. Toxic is for pokemon such as Lugia or Kyogre, I am considering thunder wave to cripple special sweepers. Seismic toss is for a a last ditch attack, but Chansey usually has better things to do.
Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 16 Atk / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
[Overview]
Behold Skarmory-the pinnacle of defensive prowess. He works like a god in conjunction with Chansey, and has never failed to disapoint me. He phazes, and sets up entry hazards- two crucial mechanisms in the Ubers enviroment. His incredible steel typing grants him with many resistances, and a nice dragon resistance to boot. This metal bird’s ability to counter most forms of Arcues is much appreciated.
[Moves and ev‘s]
Max defence and hp ev’s are needed, seeing as Chansey covers the specially weak side of him. Incredibaly enough, he can get by without roost on his set because Chansey provides him with wish support in the form of double switching. Whirlwind is to phaze out the likes of Arceus. Edit: 16 ATK ev's are to Break Gliscor's Subs
Kyogre @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 240 HP / 244 Def / 24 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
[Overview]
Kyogre provides he vital sleep pivot, and he does his job well. Very well. Outside of functioning as a sleep pivot, he commonly sees play as a late game sweeper, and on top of that he functions as a weather changer, which is vital in the Ubers enviroment. He can take amazing abuse, even super effective attacks don’t even scratch him. A STAB surf in the rain after 1~2 CM’s will wreck anything that dare oppose him.
[Moves an ev’s]
The defence ev’s are to gurantee that a Ferrothorn’s Power Whip does about 50~53% not factoring in life orb or CM boosts. The moves are fairly predictable, seeing as no Resttalker is complete with Rest and Sleep talk. Surf is a simple, reliable STAB move. Calm mind is for max setup potential, sadly enough, Quagsire or Gastrodon wall this set, which is why it is a late gamer.
Dialga @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Thunder
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
[Overview]
I really don’t have much to say about Dialga other than he provides a vital counter for Mewtwo, and bring a slew of resistances to the table. At first I had some problems making the adjustment with Dialga, but after a while, I got really used to him. This spot was taken by numerous pokemon, so I really am open to suggestions for another pokemon to fill Dialga’s massive shoes.
[Moves and ev’s]
The ev’s are to enshure max offensive potential. Thunder is to take advantage of the rain that Kyogre sets up, fire blast is a little contradictory on a pokemon that is semi-dependant on rain, but even factoring in rain, fire blast will always OHKO a max specially defensive Ferrothorn. Oddly enough, Stealth Rocks work great on a choiced set
Giratina-O @ Griseous Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 84 HP / 216 SAtk / 96 SDef / 112 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Aura Sphere
[Overview]
I guess you could call Giratina the “glue” of my team, he sets up on Chansey (or Blissey) making him the sole reason I run strait special attackers, rapes Ferrothorn into next week AND provides a spin blocker all in one sexy package. I tried numerous sets and pokemon in this spot and Giratina seems to work the best.
[Moves and ev’s]
The ev’s seem complex, but are really quite simple, the ensure max defensive potential, while also retaining max offensive ability. Substitute is to block leech seed, toxic, willowisp ecetera. Calm mind is the most vital move in his arsenal because it boosts his special attack, allowing him to dish out massive damage. Shadow Ball is for my Mewtwo weakness
