I've developed my team to the point that it is capable of winning wifi battles.
Team Strider
Leadoff: Ferrothorn
Nature: +Def, -Spe Ability: Iron Barbs Item: Focus Sash EVs: 252 Def, 252 SpD, 4 HP
Moves: Gyro Ball, Power Whip, Stealth Rock, Curse
Usually, I use Ferrothorn to deploy Stealth Rock, the Focus Sash guaranteeing a chance to use the move. Curse is used to set up for Gyro Ball, and Power Whip is an alternate STAB.
#2: Charizard
Nature: Neutral Ability: Blaze Item: Charti Berry EVs: 252 SpA, 100 Att, 150 Spe, 6 Def
Moves: Air Slash, Flamethrower, Rock Slide, HP Grass
I use this Charizard mostly for showing off, because it is shiny, but it still has plenty of power. Sometimes, this guy leads off instead of Ferrothorn to prevent Stealth Rock damage. The Charti Berry is a defensive measure to defend against surprise rock-type attacks. Surprizingly, Charizard has actually beaten quite a few top-notch OU pokemon.
#3: Kingdra
Nature: +Spe, -Def Ability: Sniper Item: Razor Claw EVs: 200 SpA, 200 Att, 108 Def
Moves: Outrage, Scald, Focus Energy, Dragon Dance
I transferred this Kingdra from my SS game, and it is definitely filling its role. Although discouraged, I have made a crit hit strategy work with this guy. Focus energy, when combined with the Razor Claw, builds a 1 in 3 chance of a critical, enhanced by Sniper.
#4: Salamence
Nature: +Att, -SpA Ability: Moxie Item: Dragon Gem EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Moves: Dragon Claw, Crunch, Earthquake, Scary Face (Will replace later-any suggestions?)
Salamence is one of my physical powerhouses. I had a bit of trouble at first deciding on an item, but then I decided to up my STAB move. Crunch and Earthquake are coverage moves, and, since I didn’t have Dragon Dance available on this guy, I used Scary Face as a temporary measure. In my first WiFi battle, this guy KO’d the opponent’s whole team in a snowball effect.
#5: Blaziken
Nature: +Att, - SpA Ability: Speed Boost Item: Leftovers EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Moves: Flare Blitz, Hi Jump Kick, Protect, Swords Dance
I know that this guy is in the Ubers, but I still use him for Wi-Fi battling, because Smogon has no power there. I start off with Protect, to get a speed boost, and then either attack, or power up with swords dance.
#6: Wobbuffet
Nature: +Def, -Spe Ability: Shadow Tag Item: Focus Band EVs: 252 HP, 125 Def, 129 SpD
Moves: Encore, Safeguard, Counter, Mirror Coat
Wobbuffet was a temporary filler at first, but has made a huge difference, earning him a spot on my team. My only problem is the item clause, preventing Wobbuffet from using Leftovers. A Sitrus Berry might be a better idea, but I’m just not sure. I might teach Taunt to another team member, and switch Wobbuffet in after using it.
Like I said before, I know Blaziken is Uber-only now, so if I do participate in Smogon-sanctioned battling, could you suggest a replacement?
