Team Swelnine!

Hello everyone, This is declanp back with my 4th RMT (i think) After getting over the fact that creeselia and pory-z was gonna be UU i had to give them a shot..or the metagame for that matter..so far this is one of my more successful teams getting me a rating of about 1350..and i ask you teamraters help to boost me even further. So without further adieu here is the team!!

From afar...!!

442.png
478.png
232.png

The team is based on a Swellow / Arcanine sweep as the team helps them get geared up for it.

Up close and personal...!!

442.png

Spiritomb @ Spooky plate
244 hp / 46 atk / 16 spe / 204 spA
Quiet (+ SpA, -Spd) Natured
Pressure
Moveset:
-Shadow Ball
-Shadow Sneak
-Pursuit
-hidden power (fighting)

With the UU leads not being pretty stable i knew i wanted a lead who could get me at an early advantage aswell as be able to support by other mean...with uxie being the only stable lead..i knew i wanted something that could beat that..eventually i choose spiritomb..spiritomb has awesome power in his move while keeping a defesive feel...he also spin block my spikes along with froslass (haha foresight hitmontop) as for the moves....shadow ball hits really hard and even 2HKO's with my EV investment. Shadow sneak beats sashes (alakazam ...) HP fighting hits normal type ghost cant aswell as retaining perfect type coverage. And pursuit traps things that threaten the team..the evs let me survive a flamethrower from moltres aswell as let me outspeed the other leadtombs..the rest are split between the attacks

478.png

Froslass @ Leftovers
224 hp / 248 def / 36 spe
Timid (+spd, -Atk) Natured
Snow cloak
moveset:
-Spikes
-Taunt
-Ice Beam
-Pain Split

Ah froslass, This is the set i' ve used for frossy ever since Heysup made the set..and for good reason. Froslass completes the dual ghosts that help protect my team. This specific froslass is designed to set out spikes and keep them there. As it beats every spinner out there (fuck you blastiose) between ice beam and pain split. Spikes are spikes which are really crucial to this teams success. Taunt shuts down random set uppers like curse/stockpile cradily. Ice beam for general STAB and it hit every spinner for SE damage bar a few. Pain split is semi - realiable healing. The Evs im not too sure about but i think they let you survive a absols night slash.

232.png

Donphan @ Leftovers
252 hp / 252 atk / 4 def
Adament (+Atk, -SpA) Natured
Sturdy
Moveset:
-Rapid spin
-Earthquake
-Assurance
-Ice shard / Stealth rocks

This was probably the hardest team member to choose from..with the core members being weak to rocks ( read: Stealth rocks) I knew i needed a spinner aswell as a rock resist. That left me hitmontop, Donphan and claydol. I ultimately choose Donphan for his physical bulk and attacking prowess. He is also my only answer to rhyperior and aggron. Rapid spin is to get rid of pesky floating rocks, Earthquake is general STAB and no team should go without the move. Assurance is for assurance agaisnt ghosts (lol). I usually go for ice shard for priority but my own rocks could be beneficially to my swellow sweep i guess. I choose LO over leftovers cause i want him to have more of an offesive presence and not be useless after rocks.

350.png

Milotic @ Life Orb
152 Hp / 80 Def / 220 SpA / 56 Spe
Modest (+SpA, - Atk) Natured
Marvel Scale
Moveset:
-Surf
-Hideen power [Grass]
-Ice beam
- Recover

I orginally had aggron in this spot. But i bunch of raters noticed it did nothing for the team and i need a water type to balance out my large weakness. Being the offensive person i ma. I settled for Lo milo. This pokemon had everything i could water. Firepower, A water resist. And i nice piece of bulky to round it all off. The moveset is pretty straightfoward. Surf is for general STAB and is more reliable than Hydro pump. HP grass lets me smack water type to the ground. And ice beam is for coverage as water/grass/ice is almost unresisted. Recover is too heal LO and SR damage. LO is choosen because with milo's average attack stat she need all the fire power she can get. What more could i want from this beautiful creature?

59.png

Arcanine @ Choice Band
252 atk / 4 def / 252 spe
Jolly ( + Spe, - SpA) Natured
Flash Fire
Moveset:
- Flare Blitz
-Extremespeed
- Morning Sun
- Iron Head Crunch

CB Arcanine Is an absolute BEAST... After seeing this in a Warstory i felt i had to use it and it hasnt disappointed... this thing will really help prepare swellow for a sweep...steelix is probs the only Steel who can survive a base 120 STAB attack in flare blitz. And if I get a Flash fire boost (baited by froslass) Its GG to you. Iron head deals with the rock type pretty easily too (if only it had higher base power) I with a nifty side effect in flinching. Morning sun helps feign an ordinary set of arcanines..so i aim to do that then switch out early game. XS is a cleanup move. And an 80 BP priority move coming off of 478 attack ain't nothing to scoff at. This thing has done sweeps before because of its surprize factor and has got me out of many tight situations... Spikes really add to this too because with 3 layers up..i think i can OHKO pory-z with extremespeed...it a great poke which i encourage people to try, Definitely the co - star of the team. Crunch is choosen to hit cresselia and Uxie

277.png

Swellow @ Flame orb
252 atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Jolly (+Spe, -SpA) Natured
Guts
Moveset:
-Facade
-Brave Bird
-U-Turn
-Protect Quick attack

And heres the reason for this team...Swellow is an awesome pokemon in the UU tier...As with the steels/rocks and bulky waters gone..he can sweep teams with ease.... there isn't much to say here. Swellow is amazing with spikes as it lets it beat common counters such as milotic/tangrowth and venusaur ( i think) anyway EVs are standard sweeping evs. The move are also basic. Brave bird is my strongest move before flame orb activaton. Facade = base 210 atk (with STAB) + Guts = Ouch. U-turn scout early in the match. protect lets me activate my toxic orb if i dont get the chance to switch in on a move. Swellow is broken with spikes for this reason and while it's here may as well use it. Chagned protect to quick attack as my team baits ground and ghost moves

Anyway there's my team..i hope i didnt miss anything (if i did, Please tell me) And i really would like help with it. Also one last request. When rating my team can you actually rate it ( like out of 10) Anyway thanks alot and seer you again!

Hey declanp, nice team!

One thing, why are you running morning sun on a CB arcanine? Do you mean Life Orb instead? If you are running CB i would reccomend that you run Thunder Fang over Morning Sun because your team is very weak to milotic.

Speaking of milotic, she really destroys through your team. Surf hits aggron, donphan, and arcanine, and ice beam hits swellow. Also, you dont have a resistance to surf, its main STAB move. For this, i would recommend switching out frosslass for slowbro, even if it means losing spikes.

Spr_4h_080.png

Slowbro@leftovers
Bold
Own Tempo
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Moveset:
Surf
Ice beam / grass knot / psychic (either or)
Toxic
Slack Off

This set beats milotic almost 100% of the time. If you really wanted slowbro just for the sole purpose of taking out milotic or any other water (feraligatr), use grass knot, but if you want better coverage, go with psychic or ice beam.

Also, your aggron description is very very confusing, and i dont think a subpolish set will get anything accomplished in the UU game. If you want to run rock polish, get rid of sub for EQ and keep aqua tail. Also, switch the item to Life Orb, as now you have 3 moves to choose from.

One last thing, if you are debating SR or Ice Shard, go with rocks 'cause you never know when that extra damage could come in handy!

Thanks for the rate. First the reason most of the descriptions are weird because writing RMT start to tire you out but anyway onto your rate.

The reason for morning sun is to feign CB and it has worked quite a few time but i guess my milotic problem does require t-fang...ill test it

I know of and have experiecned my milo weakness -_-....if anyone i would rather switch out aggron instead of froslass..she too important....but ill test the set..ty for it

the aggron set probs is confusing..i had a mental default there i think XD..too much writing....ill fix it up..thanks anyway..im gonna test ice shard andSR some more

Well i think Morning Sun is to increase it's durability from the recoil dmg from FB. And a RD Team to me would absolutely destroy this team IMO so I'd switch probably Aggron for the slowbro set listed above or a Milotic set.

Hey there, declanp

First of all, that's a pretty nice team; but I believe some changes will fit it better and improve its prowess.

First, Donphan shouldn't carry Life Orb. I know you did explain on the OP that the extra power is something you enjoy, but I find your team way too weak to things like Aggron and Rhyperior to afford running LO. These pokés, after one RP, have a field day against you, and your only answer to them is Donphan (which is already rather shaky), so you need to be in top shape for when they come in. Also, Donphan's most common switch-ins won't mind taking an EQ, like Moltres and Milotic. Finally, you're only packing 2 attacks (SR is a must), thus making it even more of a burden, while with max attack Donphan still has a great offensive prowess, even with no LO.

That's all I could think of for now. You have serious Water-type pokés issues, as you have a triple water weakness and no resist whatsoever, so consider running that Slowbro suggestion and, if not, think of Blastoise over Donphan.

Good luck =)

Edit: I'd say 6.5, as it's got a good base but synergetically has some flaws, like the lack of key resistances.
Edit 2: You might wanna fix Swellow's EVs, as he's got... 756 lol. Oh, and I recommend Quick Attack over Protect, as priority is needed to beat Sucker Punchers and weakened priority users, while switching in swellow on a ground/ghost attack isn't the hardest thing ever.

oh more rates (dances wildly) well lets evaluate the rates...

Difference - Well he's hit the nail on the head really..right now im testing Crunch over Iron tail though as ...Cress is hurting and rocks arent very popular in UU

Bluewind - Yeah...I hate rock types in general -_-..LO was doing pretty good to random pokes if they got in the way...but my durability went downhill..so ill go back to lefties... and yeah..as we speak im testing slowbro over aggron..will update later..thanks for the rate..keep em coming

oh and like i requested in the op..could you actually mark it out of 10?

EDIT: Fixed swellows EVs...and gonna change protect to quick attack cause froslass and aggron bait ghost and ground attacks respectively

@Difference and declamp: how are you going to feign morning sun? After your opponent realizes that you switch out after every move or every time you use morning sun, they will realize that you are choiced. And definitaly go with crunch > iron head to hit uxie and cress.

Also, i was going to suggest bro over aggron, but then i read that it was the "glue of your team" so i didnt want to replace that. Definitally slowbro > aggron if you are willing to make the switch.

I also agree with everything blue wind says, donphan seems like a weak point on your team. Consider utility blastoise over it.

overall, id say 6/10.There are some major synergy flaws, and i dont know how your team handles pokes because you dont have the threat list up

A threat list is up now... i dont want to use blastoise because of the lack of ways to beat steels and lack of resistance to rock...Would hitmontop work if i go with slowbro (which is testing well btw)

After fighting your team, I say keep Ice Shard on Donphan (my Sceptile outspeeded your Donphan without Ice Shard, even though Ice Shard wouldn't have KOed). It's really slow, and needs priority :). Froslass stacks up Spikes pretty well enough anyway.

Why do you have Morning Sun on Arcanine when it has Choice Band? Either change it to Thunder Fang (which 2HKOs Milotic, as you said it was troublesome) or give Arcanine a bulkier spread. I recommend the former, though.

@lucario skywalker: how damaged was your sceptile? And who keeps donphan in on a sceptile in the first place??? SR is much more helpful to his team

Hey Declanp,

After taking a look at your threat list I saw that most of the threats to this team could be fixed by using Milotic. Aggron does nothing to contribute to this team, so I'd replace him with Milo. Here's the set:

350m.png

Milotic (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 Hp/200 Def/56 SpDef
Bold Nature
-Surf
-Hidden Power [Grass]
-Toxic
-Recover

All the problematic pokemon you mentioned in your threat list are now covered with this set. Slowbro/King and Milotic are dealt with by Toxic, while HP Grass deals with other offensive water types that have substitute. The reason that I'm not suggesting Slowbro is because it can't deal with Moltres and Rhyperior nearly as well, pokemon who would otherwise rip this team apart.

I think Arcanine would be better off with a life Orb. Right now it is walled pretty bad by pokes like Rhyperior and Regirock, who you NEED to kill if you want to have any chance of Swellow sweeping.

059arcanine.png

Arcanine (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SpAtk/252 Spd
Naughty Nature
-Flare Blitz
-Extremespeed
-Hidden Power [Grass]
-Morning Sun

Flare Blitz + HP Grass is a KO on standard SubPerior, Donphan, and Quagsire. The freedom to switch between attacks is the main reason I'm suggesting this set, as you don't have to worry about been forced out if you make a wrong prediction. However if you're really stuck on using CB Arcanine then I'd recommend Thunder Fang over Iron Head or Morning Sun, as you need it for Milotic and Slowbro.

Donphan really needs Leftovers or else he'll die too quickly, and you need him to be alive to spin away rocks and check physical attackers.

Overall not a bad team, I'd give it 7/10.

277.png

Swellow @ Flame orb
252 atk / 252 Spe / 252 SpD
Jolly (+Spe, -SpA) Natured
Guts
Moveset:
-Facade
-Brave Bird
-U-Turn
-Protect Quick attack

lol you have too much EVs. Just go with 252 Atk and 252 Spe. Why Hard Stone on Aggron? Why not LO? It gives much more power to all of its moves. Lefties over LO on Donphan. Its supposed to take hits, not dish out massive damage. Lefties if you want it to spin again another day.

oh rates

lucario skywaler - are you devboy? if so i remember our battle...im considering sacking donphan completely..as he doesnt do much for the team.

Brawler - it was at full health... and i was on my last pokemon

RT. - thanks for answering my VM ^^. SO anyway i like milotic since slowbro has been to defensive for my taste... but even so.. would a LO milo works here with like surf/ice beam/hp grass/ recover..i like offensive so any comments on that...i like arcanine being banded and right now im trying a set of flare blitz/extremespeed/crunch/t-fang to help deal with cress and waters

pokemon - i made a mess of the EVs...ill change them...hard stone was to bluff a choice band of its own..but im sacking aggron for a water type altogether

one more thing..what does everyone think of a hitmontop over donphan..it has priority to take down aggron.. keeps a rock resist..not weak to water...and has awesome stab in CC

It's really up to you what Milotic set you use, though personally I think you could use the defensive set more, as you REALLY have troubles taking hits from Moltres and Rhyperior and the LO set has troubles taking repeated hits from them.

@ Arcanine - You do know that a neutral Flare Blitz is more powerful than a super effective Crunch, right? There's really no use for Crunch, as everything it hits is hit harder by something else, so I'd replace it for Morning Sun.
