Team UU OU [OU RMT]

Team Under-Used Over Used!

Another OU team I put together quite by accident out of a desire to use Espeon and Machamp on the same team. With the exception of Zapdos, most of the Pokémon on this team are OU, but are not in the "big ten" of OU competitive play. Hence, they are under-used over-useds. (No, useds is not a word.) But anyways, the team:[/color]

Dark Maw (Aerodactyl) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
A rather typical suicide lead. Since there isn't really a "standard" lead right now for other leads to metagame against, this serves its purpose really well. Only certain variations of Infernape and Weavile leads can beat this 100% of the time (by that, I mean prevent it from setting up SR.) If it somehow makes it into the late game, it makes decent death fodder or a quick EQ for Jolteon/Magnezone, and Taunt's very helpful sometimes.

Ricky (Machamp) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 170 HP/252 Atk/86 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Payback
Anyone else remember the Machoke you traded Cubone for in Pokémon Yellow? I certainly do. Rest-talking Machamp is a beastly status absorber, and nothing can really switch in on Dynamicpunch save Gengar or Dusknoir. Payback is a vicious tool for punishing lesser ghost types, although Dusknoir can beat this set all the time.

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Explosion
- Iron Defense
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
Somewhere between old sets I used to run and the desire for something capable of clearing out anything came this. With Iron Defense, this Metagross can take on any physical attacker. Explosion is what I usually have it do, though, since this is a switch in for any and all Pokémon that buff their attack stats. Explosion handles them nicely. Meteor Mash and EQ help with stall wars with the coverage and attack boosts.

Zapdos @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/196 Spd/60 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Roost
- Heat Wave
A bit of an odd attacking set, based off of Roost Scizor. It's fast enough to outspeed quite a lot, and the LO + Modest nature helps to score a lot of KOs with the super-effective moves. Roost is for healing off damage from SR or ineffective attacks. It can be a bit of a hassle to pick up a time-activated Ground weakness sometimes, but this set works wonders otherwise.

Rotom_Frost_Form_by_Zaikudo.jpg

Rotomnic (Rotom-f) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 212 HP/46 Spd/252 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Trick
- Blizzard
- Will-o-wisp
- Shadow Ball
*Credit for the picture goes to Zaikudo from DeviantArt*
A rather random Pokémon, I realized I was going to have problems with fliers like Togekiss and Zapdos if I didn't have some fast way to whale on them. Shadow Ball also helps take out pesky Rotom and weakened Dusknoir. WoW is there because I, typically, need a way to make sure late-game sweepers will fail. Trick is Trick.

Espeon (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
I love Espeon! One of the best Calm Mind passers (next to Celebi), Espeon's massive Speed and SpAtk are often underappreciated because...well, Alakazam does it 100% better. However, that doesn't stop me from running Choice Specs on my favorite kitten! (In fact, just about the only kitten I like.) Psychic is for devastating STAB, and HP [Fighting] and Shadow Ball provide perfect coverage elsewhere. Trick is, again, trick, since the only other real options are Morning Sun and Yawn.

I'm curious as to any suggestion or comments you may have, so post whatever is on your mind! Thanks!

Espeon is just outclassed by Alakazam and Azelf
Better SpAtk/Spd
Azelf has the best coverage of the three. Alakazam has superior speed/sptk.
Rotom set is..uhh odd.
The following set is :
Shadow Ball/Willow/Overheat/Thunderbolt has great coverage, and wrecks a lot of htings.
I don't get your Metagross is it is like a tank but a damage dealer, overall I just think the addition of Iron Defense is meh. I feel Agility is a better option in the situation, but i guess that is unique for you.

i can see a big yanmega problem, but i dont know how many times you see him though, i usually run yanmega as my lead and 9 times out of 10 when i have encountered an aero lead they either taunt or set up s-rocks thinking i would protect but i attack and usually take them out before they can hit back, and with the speed boosts it can take out aero, machamp, and espeon pretty easily and sometimes metagross depending how they play yanmega

You've got a pretty good point, Yanmega has effed up my game quite a few times while I've been testing this team out.
What do you suggest I use to counter it? I never used to carry a "definite" Yanmega counter, simply because it's so versatile and can sleep things.

And as for the Espeon gig, Espeon does have its own place. It's like the middle ground between the two...Azelf is much bulkier, but doesn't have the SpAtk or speed of Espeon, whereas Espeon is about twice as tough as Alakazam but doesn't have quite the same SpAtk/Speed. Overall, unless there's a huge problem coming up, I think I might want to keep it.

Anything that 4x resists bug.
The metagross is not that good.
Run w-o-w thunderbolt shadow ball and Blizzard standard evs (bold 252HP
168Def 88Spe).
Azelf would do kind of better if you are ok with giving up your kitten.

the only thing i can think of is anything with a really high special def, for example blissey with flamethrower would handle the problem nicely.

i dont know how attached you are to using uu pokemon.

i dont know if your going for more of an overall attack strategy(which is what im getting from this team) or if you'd considering throwing a wall or 2
