Team Washing Machine

Team Washing Machine

This team is built around a sweet Pokémon introduced in platinum of the 4 generation of Pokémon. It is none other than one of the Rotom forms, Wash Rotom. By having the washing machine form it acquires a powerful move in Hydro Pump. It is also a water type move which is one of my favorite types of moves. I built this team around Rotom-W so if any of you suggest I will simply deny this suggestion. However you can suggest changing the Rotom-W set if you want. Any other suggestions are welcome also.

Team Building Process:
First I started with Rotom-W because I wanted to use a form of Rotom and since I liked water moves I chose none other than Rotom-W.
Spr_4p_479W.png

Second I needed a Pokémon to counter Rotom-W most effective counter, Blissey. For this spot I chose a physical variant of Lucario. It has a great move pool and will easily OHKO Blissey with Close Combat. Another advantage in choosing Lucario is that Rotom-W is immune to Lucario’s ground and fighting weakness. Lucario with max speed will outrun max+ speed Heatran and easily OHKO with close combat. If having this many reasons for choosing Lucario wasn’t enough it also easily deals with Tyranitar being able to come in when it switches in and easily OHKO with close combat.
Spr_4p_479W.png
Spr_4p_448.png
Third I wanted a Pokémon that could cover for Lucario’s fire type weakness. I had never run one before so I decided on a Heatran. With not only being able to switch in on a fire attack but also boosting its own fire power was another plus of choosing Heatran. It is a very good Pokémon that I have wanted to have on a team for a long time. It has great typing that is only weak to 3 move types; it also has 10 resistances and 2 immunities.
Spr_4p_479W.png
Spr_4p_448.png
Spr_4p_485.png
Fourth I wanted a Pokémon that could handle any bulky waters that switched into Heatran. I had no real way to deal with them without Hidden Power Grass on Heatran so I decided to run a Venusaur. It resists water and can easily take an ice attack and can also easily recover damage with a sub seeder set. The only bulky water it can’t take is Gyarados. So I decided to add a physically bulky Zapdos. It is also immune to ground which 2 of my Pokémon are weak to and it is a back up for taking care of Gyarados.

Spr_4p_448.png
Spr_4p_485.png
Spr_4d_003_f.png
Spr_4d_145.png
Finally I needed a lead that could set up stealth rocks and serve as an effective revenge killer afterward. I chose a Jirachi for this spot. It can set up stealth rocks and serve as an effective revenge killer after it switches out with a scarf. It will also counter trick scarf leads as it has a scarf of its own.

Now this team had a problem with speed. So i got a suggestion to switch Zapdos out for Jolteon. It was faster and could do more damage to the opponent than Zapdos. It could get rid of Gyarados which was a problem for my team and probably a ground or dragon as well.

Then after that I was advised to switch venasaur out for a pokemon that had some advantages over it and that pokemon was Shaymin. It had the ability to make annoying statuses dissapear upon switching out, better overall bulk, and better attacking power.

Next I was advised to switch out Jirachi out for Swampert. This was a good idea because i still have a reliable stealth rocker and i now have a second choice to switch into if a fire pokemon shows its face.

Spr_4d_260.png
Swampert@Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
Evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk. / 4 Spe.
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
- Stealth Rock
- Surf
- Earhtquake
- Roar
Swampert was switched in for jirachi and is a good switch in. I now have a reliable stealth rock user and another switch in to fire type pokemon. Stealth rock is for setting up stealth rocks. Surf is a good STAB for if i have already used stealth rock and if i don't want to roar them out. Earthquake is also a good STAB that i use if i already used stealth rock and i don't want to roar them out.

Rotom-W@Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk. / 252 Spe.
Nature: Timid
Moves:
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Shadow Ball
- Pain Split
Rotom-W is a great special attacker that I think every team should have a counter for because of its ability to hit everything in the OU metagame for at least neutral damage. I decided to try out a life orb instead of choice specs because of this. Thunderbolt is its most powerful STAB and is a very good attack. Hydro Pump is what it gains from having the washing machine form and is very useful. Shadow ball is another good STAB that can hit opposing Rotom. Pain split is for when it might need to recover and against Blissey to sap its HP.
Spr_4p_448.png

Lucario@Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk. / 252 Spe.
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
- Agility
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Lucario is a great Pokémon to match up with Rotom-W. This lucario has agility which on the switch can outspeed most of its counters. Agility is there because with an agility it can outspeed most of its counters. Close combat is its primary attack and is a great STAB and can do massave damage even without swords dance. Crunch is for gengar and rotom. Ice punch is for dragons or ground pokemon.
Spr_4p_485.png

Heatran@Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Evs: 252 Sp. Atk. / 4 Sp. Def. / 252 Spe.
Nature: Timid
Moves:
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power ( grass )
Heatran is on my team to get rid of fire types that may be of harm to Lucario being able to support Rotom-W and to get rid of ice types that may pose a threat to my defensive core. Substitute is so it won’t be OHKO when the counter switches in. Fire blast is its primary way to get rid of ice Pokémon. Earth Power is its primary way to get rid of fire Pokémon. Hidden Power grass is for getting rid of any bulky waters that switch in to Heatran.

Spr_4p_492.png
Shaymin@Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Evs: 252 HP / 68 Sp. Atk. / 188 Spe.
Nature: Timid
Moves:
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power ( fire )
Shaymin was a brilliant replacement for Venusaur. It is better than it for all of the reasons mentioned in the building process. Leech seed is sapping health to help survive. Protect is for leech seed and leftovers recovery. Seed flare is a powerful STAB that has a chance to lower the opponents special defence. Hidden power fire is for hitting scizor and for steels.

Spr_4p_135.png
Jolteon@Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk. / 252 spe.
Nature: Modest
Moves:
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power ( ice )
- Shadow Ball
- Charge Beam
Jolteon is a good replacement for zapdos who is able to hit much harder on the special attacking side. It can get rid of gyarados and maybe a dragon or ground pokemon after that. Thunderbolt is its primary attack which is a great STAB and will hit most things for respectable damage. Hidden power ice is for dragons or ground pokemon. Shadow ball is for rotom and for coverage. Charge beam is for boosting its special attack so it can be even stronger.

Well there is my team. I hope you enjoyed reading about it and will offer a lot of advice to help fix it. Remember to please not advise to remove Rotom-W because the whole point to having a Rotom-W team is to have Rotom-W on it.

Nice team!

The first thing I notice is that Lucario has agility. Try this instead:
448.png

Lucario @ Life Orb
Adamant
Evs: 4 HP/ 252 ATK/ 252 SPE
Steadfast
~Swords Dance
~Close Combat
~Extremespeed
~Ice Punch

I know your team lacks speed (well, look at trying Jolteon below), but this set is too much to offer. After a swords dance, people will switch to: 1) A steel or 2) A ghost or 3) A physical wall. But they all fear Lucario, except maybe the ghost. You can kill all those steels with CC and walls too (Gliscor gets Ice punched). Agility is good for sweeping, but when you have ES you don't need speed. Crunch can be used too, but Ice punch kills dragons and gliscor, two threats to this team.

And if you try that set, I fully suggest Jolteon in place of Zapdos.
135.png

Jolteon @ Expert Belt
Modest
4 HP/ 252 SP.A/ 252 SPE
Volt Absorb
~Thunderbolt
~HP: Ice
~Shadow Ball
~Attract/Baton Pass/Substitute

Why not specs? Well, whenever you kill something with thunderbolt, a ground is almost sure to come in. Well, then you can kill it with HP: Ice! Nobody expects it not to be specs because it dosen't take damage from life orb. This usually kills two pokemon (Gyarados + Ground/Dragon) which both scare this team. Modest always is a good choice for more killing power. Attract is a choice in the last spot to stop something if you want to set up for Lucario, but probably not. Baton Pass is if shadowball raises all your stats and you wanna give Rotom a boost. Substitute is awfully hard for someone to kill when it's Jolteon they're fighting.

Venusaur is strange on this team, especially if Jolteon/Zapdos already takes care of bulky waters. A ground counter can help this team especially if you use Jolt. Gyarados can fufill all that Venusaur did (typing wise), and serves another ground immunity. At the same time, it spits on Grounds as it sets up DDance.
130.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Jolly
Evs: 252 ATK/ 4 SP.D/ 252 SPE
Intimidate
~Dragon Dance
~Waterfall
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge

This monster can set up on pretty much anything! If Hippowdon gets you down (lol) you can switch in, get down a DDance and sweep. Breloom is the only thing in OU that resists all it's attacks, and it is still dented by intimidate, and can't do anything to it, and it's frail at that. A scarfed jolteon can kill it, which is really rare. There isn't much to say about it, all it does is kill. And there's no stalling it out thanks to leftovers, and there's no stalling thanks to its tremendous power.

So that's all I have to say about your team, good luck!

Good suggestions, tawp. :) However, Jolteon ought to have Life Orb for its held item and Charge Beam for its 4th move. Charge Beam's boost plus Life Orb deals so much damage. Not only that, but a lot of teams I've seen lately are weak to Jolteon. ;D

Hello.

Shaymin does what you're trying to do with Venusaur better, IMO. Below, I'll explain why Shaymin is more effective than Venusaur in this case.

  • Natural Cure: Being able to eliminate pesky status effects such as paralysis and sleep with is incredibly useful for a Leech Seeder. Unlike Venusaur, Shaymin can cure itself of status thanks to its ability, Natural Cure. This is one huge advantage Shaymin has over Venusaur.

  • Better overall bulk: Shaymin has a higher base HP and Defense stat than Venusaur. This allows Shaymin to take numerous hits thrown at it with little to no problem.

  • More offensive power and Seed Flare: With more offensive than Venusaur, Shaymin can pose an offensive threat to your opponents as well. Shaymin's high powered Seed Flare deals a heft amount of damage to a variety of foes. Seed Flare also has a 40% chance to lower your opponent's Special Defense, which can be incredibly useful in certain situations. Shaymin is also faster than Venusaur, which is a pretty big advantage in a metagame dominated by Speed.
Venusaur does have a few things over Shaymin, though. However, the advantages Venusaur has over Shaymin don't help your team much at all. Venusaur has a Poison-typing that enables it to absorbs Toxic Spikes. This isn't helpful to you at all because all of the Pokémon on this team are immune to Toxic Spikes. Venusaur's Posion-typing gives it a resistance to Fighting-type attacks. You already have Zapdos + Rotom to take Fighting-type attacks, so that point is moot. The only thing you're really missing out on is Sleep Powder. If you're interested in giving Shaymin a try, I recommend using the following:

Shaymin @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SpA / 188 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power Fire

The set is pretty straightforward. Take a look at twash's RMT if you want further explanation as to how the set works!

Now, HP Fire isn't necessary on Rotom-W. The only Pokémon it's used for is Scizor, who already takes a boatload from a LO STAB Thunderbolt. You could try using Pain Split over it. Pain Split is an excellent move against Blissey. It also restore Rotom-W's HP should Blissey try and switch-in and wall the set. You also need Timid over Modest on Rotom-W. A beneficial Speed nature allows you to outpace some notable Pokémon, mainly offensive Suicune, non-Scarfed Heatran, and Adamant natured Lucario. Without Timid, you risk losing to all of the aforementioned Pokémon, which is definitely something you don't want!

Heatran needs a Timid nature. Without it, you will lose to opposing Heatran and Breloom with heavy Speed investment to name a few. The power Rash gives is nice, but the added Speed is generally worth it in such a fast-paced metagame. I can see you struggling versus stall teams. A typical Blissey / Gyarados / Swampert / Rotom-A core will be quite hard for you to break through. You could try using a SD Lucario over your current Agility set to help with this. A typical Close Combat / Stone Edge / Swords Dance / ExtremeSpeed set should do. Stone Edge is chosen over Crunch so you can KO any defensive Gyarados that try to come in and ruin your day.

That's all I have for now. Good luck.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!! I took all of the suggestions that i agreed with. I switched zapdos out for jolteon and a brilliant switch with venusaur to shaymin.

I never even thought of shaymin and it will work much better on my team! so thanks again everyone!! If anyone else has any suggestions that would be great!

I agree with all of the changes Bloo suggested (I wonder why...), but there's a couple of extra ones I'd like to add. First of all, I don't agree with the change to Jolteon, as it means your team is pretty weak to fighters - Rotom isn't really a reliable switch into them a lot of the time. You can easily run an offensive Life Orb/Leftovers Zapdos with Thunderbolt/HP Grass/Heat Wave/Roost to cover pretty much all of the same roles as Jolteon (admittedly it means you can't outspeed Gengar and Starmie, but with Shaymin it's quite possible to play around them) while giving you better options defensively.

I'm also really unsure of the usefulness of Jirachi as a lead here - for a start it means your team gives out plenty of opportunites for Heatran to come in, and you have absolutely nothing that can safely come in on one barring your own Heatran, which is pretty risky. There's a pretty simple fix for that in using a Swampert lead instead of Jirachi, which gives you a good fire resist while remaining a reliable SR user.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions tab. i don't agree with switching zapdos in again because i already have a defenseve that is a good switch in for fighing type pokemon which is shaymin. but i did switch in swampert instead of jirachi because i agree with that switch.

If anyone else has any suggestions that would be great

SD Lucario is pretty terrible in this metagame, go back to using Agility. Also Shaymin doesn't take fighting attacks but whatever.

Thanks for the suggestion of switching back. I was actually thinking of doing it any way because i liked being able to outspeed more than do a little more damage.

And oops your right. maybe i was thinking of electric which is not very effective against grass and not fighting. What do you think i should do about that?
