Team with Mixed Success: First Smogon RMT

So this is my first Smogon RMT, but I have been battling competitively for over a year now, so Im not new to the rules and format, etc etc.

Introuduction

The basic idea of my team is to have a balance of special and physical equally. Its had some mixed sucess, but the team itself has a solid center with some weak points.

The Team

weavile.png

Artemis (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash
- Brick Break

My Lead, and a killer one at that. The main purpose is fairly obvious, SD to get energized, then sweep like crazy. For the most part is can hit most Pokemon hard, but gets stopped with Bronzong and the other Steel-Psychics.

vaporeon.png

Poseidon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/204 Def/52 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Surf
- Wish
- Protect
- Ice Beam

My bulky water and stall queen. Surf and Ice Beam for taking down dragons and other sweepers/bulk. Wish helps to rejuvenate the team and heal herself when outstalling. Has a few problems with poison status. She can usually beat Heatran into the ground too.

azelf.png

Athena @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 24 HP/252 Spd/232 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
- Psychic

My extremely dangerous special sweeper. While not having Explosion, LO Azelf can still OHKO most of the metagame, even without a NP. Hits TTar where it hurts with Grass Knot, and handles everything else with Psychic, Flamethrower for those pesky Bronzong/Metagross.

forretress.png

Momus (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 232 HP/24 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball
- Explosion

Forretress is an amazing wall. With fire being his only weakness, Vaporeon takes most hits he can't. He walls Scizor like a dream, but unfortunately usually can't kill him. That's what Weezing is for. Sets up SR and spins away for Weavile. Explosion for when it looks like Gyarados is in the way.

machamp.png

Ares (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 54 HP/192 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch/Stone Edge
- Thunderpunch

Look out, ScarfChamp on the warpath! ScarfChamp is my teams most reliable Pokemon. Even facing against overwhelming odds, it can usually preservere. Dynamic Punch is a dream come true, with it 2HKOs most everything, confusion screws them over too. Ice Punch hits Dragons, Fire for Steels and Electric for Gyarados. While the 3 punches seems a bit overkill, usually I need them. Gets blocked easily by Cresselia and Hippowdon. Im thinking Stone Edge over Ice Punch.
rotomheat.png

Rotom-h @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Now we're cooking. Rotom-h is for overall overage, hits gyarados, the dragons, thats electric, etc etc. Beast when attacking and killer for revenge and Scizor.

Threat List

Some of my teams most common threats are listed below:

Vaporeon: While Machamp and Azelf can ususally kill it, SubPassing can hurt.

Zapdos: Weavile can Ice Shard and Machamp can Ice Punch, but they dont really take her down. Thinking of replacing Ice Punch for Stone Edge on Scarfchamp.

Togekiss: Same idea as Zapdos. My team SERIOUSLY lacks a Rock move. Weavile can hit it with Ice Shard, but it still hurts, but Vappy can sometimes outstall it. Rotom-h hits it pretty hard too.

Shuckle: Yes, sadly, Im sort of Shuckle weak. Machamp can confuse it and hit it pretty hard, as can Azelf with Flamethrower. If it starts hucking Toxics out, my team gets pretty drained.

Suicune: Im very CMCune weak. I have almost no way to take it down. Machamp hits it hard with Dynamic Punch, and Vappy can stall, but I can't just outright kill it, Forretress Explosion doesnt even hurt it that much.

Milotic: While Machamp hits Miltoic pretty hard, it can still survive and Recover. Azelf hits hard too, but Grass Knot can't do everything. Forretress can suicide kill also.

Dusknoir: Stalls Machamp, and Weavile can't usually kill it with Night Slash. One of my biggest weaks. Rotom-h can sometimes Shadow Ball it to death.

Spiritomb: I dont have any real way to counter it. Weavile can take it down if Will"o"Wisp misses twice.

Cresselia: DUCK OF EVIL! I hate this thing. Weavile can hit it fairly hard, but it stalls Machamp, and even a Forretress explode does nothing to really halt its progress.

Changes

#1-Switched Weezing out for Rotom-h

Conclusion

So while my ultimate goal of having an team that has equal special and physical is complete, my team doesnt hit most ghost/psychic Pokemon to really knock the wind out of them. I believe I need a Rock move user. CBTar is in consideration for my lead, but makes me Skymin weak. Any comments or suggestion will be whole heartedly listened to and discuseed. Thank you!

Even though Weavile has Ice Shard, it's nevertheless helpful to run a Jolly nature, to outrun things like Starmie that can hurt it severely if it's Adamant. It's also annoying to have Weavile get outrun by Gengar, and an unboosted Ice Shard is incapable of OHKOing it.

The main problem with this team is that Scizor can beat it easily; though Weezing can stand up to a single boosted Bullet Punch, it has no reliable way of healing (even with Pain Split, it's virtually always below full health), and Stealth Rock is very common. Forretress can wall the Scizor that run both Bullet Punch and Quick Attack in addition to X-Scissor, but the versions with Superpower can prove very dangerous. Outside of Explosion, Forretress can do absolutely nothing to Scizor, allowing it to get in more Swords Dances, and Explosion itself does less than 60% to Scizor. Another problem is that you have no Electric resistances, leaving you with no safe switch-ins to Pokemon like Zapdos. Rotom-H (the form with Overheat) over Weezing provides a solution to both Scizor and Electric Pokemon, though it isn't that reliable against Gyarados (that said, neither is Weezing). That's easily remedied by using Hidden Power Electric on Vaporeon over Ice Beam; you have other ways of dealing with Ice-weak Dragons, and Protect helps stall out Outrage anyways.

Valid points, Rotom-h it is! I used to have HP Electric on Vaporeon but it didnt work, but I think I'll retry it. Im fairly unfamiliar with Rotom-h, is this a decent set?

Rotom-h @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

I'd run a more defensive version of Rotom-H; maximize HP at least. Rotom-H is supposed to essentially supplant Weezing in function, not be a sweeper.

For Rotom do this it works MUCH better

Rotom-H @ CHoice Scarf
Timid
252 spA, 252 speed, 6 HP

-Trick
-HP Fighting/shadow ball
-Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball
-Overheat

Hmmm, so maybe something like this?

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 152 SAtk, 104 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Light Screen
