Team with no Theme

Hi, I've been refining this team for a bit, and I've been doing well. But, there is one pokemon that I keep switching out. See if you can find out which one it is.

Spr_4d_424_m.png

Ambipom @ Muscle Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 spd, 4 HP
Jolly (+Spd -Sp.Atk)
- Fake Out
- Taunt
- U-Turn
- Pursuit

THE anti-lead. First, Fake out, then either Taunt if I think they are going to set up (substitute, rain dance, whatever) then Pursuit on the switch or U-Turn to a different Pokemon. I also like bringing my in and faking out trouble pokemon. The Muscle Band alows him to get a bit more damage in. I've tried both Salac and Leichi berries, but I switch him out too often for them to be of use.

Spr_4d_233.png

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP, 216 Def, 40 Sp.Def
Bold (+Def -Atk)
- Discharge
- Icebeam
- Recover
- Magic Coat

This little digital duck can withstand nearly anything, and is rather powerful with Bolt/Beam combo. I can recover away damage and then attempt to status with Discharge. Also, I'm bound to get freeze-hax at some point.

Spr_4d_141.png

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Def
Adamant (+Atk -Sp.Atk)
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Low Kick

This Kabutops is primarily used to take advantage of opposing Rain, although it can set up when given the chance. Aqua Jet for the priority, X-Scissor for the coverage, and Low Kick because it is basically a physical Grass Knot. I'm honestly surprised more people don't use that move.

Spr_4d_467.png

Magmortar @ Life Orb
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 84 Atk, 172 Spd, 252 Sp.Atk
Mild (+Sp.Atk, -Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Fire Blast
- Cross Chop

Pretty simple really. Switch in with U-Turn from Ambipom, appear to be using Fire Blast, but use T-Bolt. It can 2HKO a standard Milotic if it hits on the switch. HPIce for incoming grounds or as a general attack. Cross Chop is for those special wall like Chansey or other Normal types.

Spr_4d_344.png

Claydol @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 144 Def, 114 SAtk
- Stealth Rock
- Shadow Ball
- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin

Late game SR or RS. Can also provide a special ground or ghost attack if needs. It's bulky enough to survive a hit or two and come out swinging. I never really use him, which is why this description is so short. I don't need SR, nor am I really crippled by it either. It is useful for it's fighting resistance and ground immunity. But, other than that, nothing really interesting.

Spr_4d_106.png

Hitmonlee @ Choice Band
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Mach Punch

Revenge killer or impromptu sweeper. That's pretty much it, fast, strong, reliable. I like him. He's useful to force a switch or get a Mach Punch revenge kill. Sometimes I am able to sweep with him, but often 'Lee's just not fast enough. I don't like choice scarf because of the drop in power.

Did you guess which one was the "odd one out?" It was Kabutops! I've switched it from CM BP Espeon to CM Gardevoir to BP Mr. Mime. I really need something to switch Kabutops with. So far, the strengths of my team are Ambipom, Porygon, Magmortar and Hitmonlee. I like Claydol for the resistances and special damage, but thats pretty much it.

Hi, this team has alot of problems.

First off you have a major weakness to any kind of fighting type sweepers(namely Technitop and Hitmonlee) and to fix this Problem i would recommend you use a Spiritomb in the place of Kabutops since i dont see Kabutops doing anyhing for this team other than increasing you fighting weakness. If you dont want to use Spiritomb for any reason you could always use Mismagius instead. If you plan using Mismagius this the set i would use:

Mismagius@Leftovers
Nautre Timid
Evs 252 Hp 160 spe 60 spA
-Subsitute
-Will-O-Wisp
-Shadow-Ball/Thunerbolt
-Pain Split

Now if you are using Spiritomb i would use one of these two sets.

Spiritomb@leftovers
Nature Calm
Evs 252 hp 140 def 116 spD
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Will-O-Wisp/Hidden Power Fighting

Or

Spiritomb@Choice Band
Nature Adamant
Evs 252 hp 252 atk 4 def
-Shadow Sneak
-Sucker Punch
-Will-O-Wisp/Pain Split
-Trick

Now i also noticed that you dont have a solid defensive core so i suggest you use Milotic somwhere in there.

Hope i helped,gl.

Kabutops needs Waterfall and Stone Edge for STAB. X-Scissor and Low Kick don't hit anything particularly noteworthy and Kabutops needs the STAB otherwise he doesn't hit hard enough.

Like the above poster said, you are somewhat weak to opposing fighting types(especially when Claydol is gone, which isn't too hard since he has no recovery outside of Lefties. However, I would suggest a Rotom instead of Mismagius or Spiritomb, since he can patch up your slight Scyther weakness. I'm not too sure which set though, so just try out the different Rotom sets until you find the one that works best. I recommend using it over Porygon2 who I don't see doing much.

Also, Ambipom should probably use Life Orb or Silk Scarf. Life Orb boosts all your attacks much more than Muscle Band while Silk Scarf boosts his normal attacks. Really up to user preference which one you use.

Other than that looks fine to me, gl.

Hi :) I'd like to start this rate by saying this: Your team uncovered weaknesses. Let me enumerate:

  • You have a 2 grass weaknesses -1 4x and 1 2x- and only one who resists it. And sadly, the pokemon who resists this type is one of your sweeper.
  • You have 2 weaknesses to water and nothing that resists it.
  • Finally, you have a gaping weakness to Fighting, with 3 pokemon being weak to it and only one resisting it.
Now I'll go through you team's members.

Spr_4d_424_m.png

Ambipom @ Muscle Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 spd, 4 HP
Jolly (+Spd -Sp.Atk)
- Fake Out
- Taunt
- U-Turn
- Pursuit

Your lead Ambipom could really use an item change. Sorry to the one who recommended Life Orb over Silk Scarf but I beg to differ. Ambipom leads are usually used as Hit-and-Run leads. Putting Life Orb on such a pokemon greatly reduces its Hit-and-Running capabilities as it loses 20% of its HP everytime it attempts to Hit-and-Run. Ambipom's Fake Out + U-Turn, per se. Everytime he attempts to do this, he loses 20% HP, resulting to a sorrowful 5-time-combo. That being said, I recommend you to change your item to Silk Scarf. The 10% damage difference between it and Life Orb is negligible, when you put survivability in the picture.

Spr_4d_233.png

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP, 216 Def, 40 Sp.Def
Bold (+Def -Atk)
- Discharge
- Icebeam
- Recover
- Magic Coat

I'm fine with this Porygon2.

Spr_4d_141.png

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Def
Adamant (+Atk -Sp.Atk)
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Low Kick
While this Kabutops set is indeed powerful, I feel as if the pokemon itself does not deserve a slot in your team. It gives you a dreaded 4x grass weakness and it doesn't resist Water-type, a type that your team might potentially have problems with.
I recommend you use Azumarill with this set:

Azumarill@Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 240HP/252Atk/16Spe
Moves:
~Waterfall
~Aqua Jet
~Return/Double-Edge
~Ice Punch/Superpower

This Azumarill has superior overall bulk than the Kabutops you are currently using, provides you with a needed Water resist, doesn't give your team a Fighting weakness and provides a near perfect coverage, with only Shedinja resisting it (in UU, anyway). The last move is up to preference, really.

Spr_4d_467.png

Magmortar @ Life Orb
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 84 Atk, 172 Spd, 252 Sp.Atk
Mild (+Sp.Atk, -Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Fire Blast
- Cross Chop
Fine but you might want to try a Blaziken if you're using this one for wallbreaking purposes.

Spr_4d_344.png

Claydol @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 144 Def, 114 SAtk
- Stealth Rock
- Shadow Ball
- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin

Fine.

Spr_4d_106.png

Hitmonlee @ Choice Band
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Mach Punch

I'd like to improve your last slot by turning it into a Fighting resist. Using this Mismagius set will help you, IMO:

Mismagius@Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest
EVs: 4HP/252Sp.Atk/252Spe
Moves:
Shadow Ball
HP Fighting/Ground
Thunderbolt
Trick

Okay, when you see this set, I know you're probably like "Whaaaaaat?! Choice Scarf on Missy????" I wasn't convinced at first, too, but when you realize how useful Missy can be for revenge killing, you'll learn to love this set. On a plus note, this Missy packs the element of surprise, which may catch your enemies off guard.

Or if you're not fond of leaving your team Dark-weak, you can use this Spiritomb:

Spiritomb@Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252HP/252Atk/4Def
Ability: Pressure
Moves:
Trick
Shadow Sneak
Sucker Punch
Trick/Will-O-Wisp

This set can be effective for revenge killing, too. It doesn't provide the same flawless coverage as above but Spiritomb, with its superior bulk, definitely deserves mentioning.

These are just my OPINIONS. You can take them or not.
