Team X (Peaked 16th on TU Server)

Introduction

This is my very first RMT, so I hope all goes well. The following team helped me reach the Team Uber Leaderboard (currently in 16th place). Anyways, here we go!

I've decided to let Metagross lead the team

With high attack, bulk, and the ability to set up Stealth Rock, Metagross seemed like a good Pokemon to lead with.

I have used Heatran on every single one of my teams due to his awesome strength and his amazing ability. Who doesn't love Flash Fire? Will-o-Wisp can kiss my a$$.

It is really rare to play a match without the presence of Stealth Rock, so I decided to invest in a Starmie to remove these rocks. Starmie also serves well as an offensive threat, so it easily found its way on my team.

Understanding how deadly Stealth Rocks can be to a team, I put Rotom-H on my team to stop spinners from ruining my fun.

Ahh!!! way too many special attackers on my team. Realizing this, I decided to start thinking on the physical side of the spectrum. Scizor was my choice due to his high attack stat, ability to scout, and because he can hit with a powerful base 80 priority move.

My experience with Kingdra has never been pleasant. After one Dragon Dance, Kingdra becomes a force to reckon with putting most Pokemon in the OHKO-2HKO range with Life Orb support.

Team X Revealed

metagross.png

Metagross @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/232 Atk/16 Spd/8 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Stealth Rock
---

How it works: Stealth Rock isn't my main priority, it could always be setup later. Metagross can take on many of the fragile leads with a Meteor Mash + Bullet Punch combo. Machamp also fails to this set due to Lum Berry. To sum it up, I am using this Metagross to take out many of the common leads without losing the ability of being a Rocker.

Heatran (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Taunt
---

How it works: I normally bring Heatran in on Rotom that I suspect is going to Will-o-Wisp, Scizor, Jirachi, and any other Pokes that it can resist. I decided to run HP Grass over HP Elec/Ice due to my experience of running into Swampert. HP Grass can hit Swampert for an OHKO, removing him from the game. I decided to also turn my Heatran into a stall breaker. Taunt heavily cripples Blissey as it can no longer use it's recovery move, but also gives me the opportunity to switch into a more appropriate counter without the fear of being paralyzed or poisoned. Heatran is my main special sweeper.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
---

How it works: I use my Starmie in synergy with Heatran. Starmie can take fighting, and water hits to an extent. I often times switch Starmie in on Pokemon that had just recently set up Stealth Rock. For some strange reason, people consequently switch their Rotoms in to be wiped out by a boosted Hydro Pump (only with Stealth Rocks damage). Tyranitar switch ins take 80% from my Starmie.

Rotom-h @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Shadow Ball
- Overheat
- Trick
---

How it works: Standard Scarf Rotom, need I say more? Rotom-H is my immediate response when I see a Gyarados switch in. Kill it before it sets up completely.

scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
---

How it works: The most common Pokemon I switch Scizor in on are Gengar, Outaged Flygon, Scarf Tar, and other Scizor. The main task for Scizor is to scout my opponents move, or to finish off weakened Pokemon with a nifty base 80 STABBED Bullet Punch.

230.png

Kingdra (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
---

How it works: Kingdra is my all out sweeper. After one Dragon Dance, most Pokemon are put in the OHKO-2HKO range with Life Orb support. Substitute is used when playing Pokemon like Vaporeon who will otherwise Toxic Stall you.

Phew... that took a while. All critiques welcomed (: I personally think this team needs to be fixed a little bit.

Congrats on rating 16nd. I know on Team Ubers' ladder is no easy feet.

Now onto the team. Obviously it is a very strong one. The only weakness I c is if the opponent carries anything named Infernape. You may not be able to switch into it more than 1nce with starmie. Also if Tyranitar gets a dd and Scizor isnt around, you're in deep shit. Also outside of Taunt LO Tran, you're kind of weak to stall, so I would suggest running the Chesto Rest kingdra personally.

Overall, much better than the original team X. dat team is garbage

I'm sorry; this may not be much of a rate but it may help further improve your team; what I'm suggesting is replacing your current Dragon Dance Kingdra variant with a fairly new set which is quite effective in the current tier. Just like I have, you probably have seen it in many other teams after it was posts in C&C, but anyways, here's the set I think you should try.

230.gif

Kingdra @ Chesto Berry
EVs: 144 HP / 160 Atk / 40 SpD / 164 Spe
Ability: Swift Swim | Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Rest
- Waterfall
- Outrage

Here's a quick explanation: as you probably know, Kingdra is usually walled by steel and water types; this replacement will help you to effectively deal with those threats if you Kingdra is confronted with them. The strategy is very simple and self explanatory, all you have to do is keep on using Dragon dance and when you get at low health, simply rest off the damage and start to sweep with usually 2 or more Dragon dances under Kingdra's belt. I hope I helped!

Notable Problems

  • Starmie/Jolteon
One of the bigger problems your team faces is fast Life Orbed special sweepers. Starmie and Jolteon are the main concerns here, as they are able to 2HKO just about everything on your team. While Kingdra is normally a fairly safe switch-in to the former, its lack of bulk and own use of Life Orb subtracts from its ability to take attacks.

Suggestions

  • Use Chesto Rest Kingdra
This has already been mentioned, so I'll skip re-posting the set and just elaborate a bit more on its effectiveness. Basically, the Chesto Rest Kingdra set's EVs are designed to only be 3HKO'd by LO Starmie and +1 Offensive Suicune, allowing you to safely set up and Rest off damage against both of them. The speed is enough to outspeed Scarf Flygon after two Dragon Dances. Overall, I feel that the added bulk and access to recovery would help you out much more against Starmie, along with serving the role of late-game sweeper better.

  • Move Stealth Rock to Heatran
This is a minor suggestion, but it should help you out a bit against players who lead with Swampert, which you don't have any really solid switch-ins to at the moment. Rotom seems good initially, but switching in to Trick its Scarf onto Swampert leaves you very vulnerable to ScarfTar pursuiters. One way to help fix this up somewhat would be to add Explosion over Stealth Rock on Metagross, and use Stealth Rock instead of Earth Power on Heatran. Since your Heatran doesn't run Shuca Berry, it currently has to depend on a speed tie or perfect prediction to OHKO other Heatran, which isn't always reliable. Using an Anti-Lead variant of Metagross also allows you to explode on anything you would normally match up unfavorably against, such as TrickScarf Uxie.

Good luck with your team!

I never leave Rotom-H in to fight Swampert, that's just stupid :P As you said, Tricking Scarf to Swampert will leave me vulnerable to incoming T-tars. I only bring Rotom in against Pert to evade EQ. I switch out right after that, normally to a Scizor predicting the latter.

Thanks for all the feedback, I'll keep these ideas into consideration when revising my team.

This team appears to be pretty pro, almost as much as the other Team X. It does seem a bit weak to stall though, since the only thing that can really beat it is Taunt Heatran. I think Chesto Rest Kingdra would be good, as undisputed said in his fabulous mediocre rate.

Hi there quite a nice solid team you got there, congrats for hitting the TU lb also. I can't really find anything wrong but here is a little suggestion:

Dump 78 evs into special defense for a number of reasons:
-LO tran eq won't 2HKO(possibility it won't 2HKO after sr also).
-Offensive Cune who can pose a threat since it can live+1 Outrage cannot 2HKO with Ice beam.
-LO STarmie cannot 2HKO with sr on the field

Speed benchmark:
Jolteon, Aerodactyl 394

263+131.5 is sufficient giving you 394.5 speed, meaning 230 speed evs is good enough.

Good luck and hope I helped somewhat.
