[SET]
name: Terrakion (Lead)
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Quick Attack
item: Focus Sash
ability: Justified
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 2522 Atk / 252 Spd
Why this deserves to be on-site
- Terrakion has high speed and tremendous amounts of coverage and damage with 129 base attack and STAB Close Combat and Stone Edge
- Terrakion can 2HKO most pokemon in the game: Few pokemon slower than terrakion can survive two Close Combats, and few pokemon faster than terrakion can survive a Close Combat and a quick attack.
- Focus Sash allows it to attack at least twice. Also means Terrakion does not need to worry about Close Combat defense drops.
- Taunt leads such as Forretress, that Terrakion has trouble with, and switch out to an appropriate counter.
- Terrakion is very difficult to switch in to so it is hard to predict around it.
- Can 2HKO most common sets for Politoad and even Jellicent.
- Remains a strong threat throughout the match.
Additional comments
- Adamant is recommended because that difference in power could allow you to 2HKO a pokemon you couldn't have with a Jolly nature.
- Jolly allows you to outspeed Genesect and base 100s Zapdos and Jirachi.
- Terrakion is quite frail. Don't use taunt unless you are fighting a dedicated wall that can't attack for much damage.
Teammates & Counters
- Gliscor hard counters this set. Scizor also causes issues. This makes teamates like HP Ice Zapdos, Gyarados, and other water types a good choice.
- Terrakion punches holes in walls, especially Water types like Jellicent and Politoad very early on. Sweepers like Kingdra and Heatran that can take advantage of this work well with Terrakion.
- Counters: Gliscor, Hippowdon, Landorus, Scarf-Jirachi, Scizor, Gollurk.
