This has got to be one of my favourite doubles teams to use, both competitively and for fun. Please feel free to use this team on Showdown/Battle Spot etc. I want to share the ideas within the team for anyone to take and use with their own spin on it, so if anybody has any suggestions for different sets/EV spreads/alternative pokemon, by all means share them :) I saw the concept for this team on KyleCole's YouTube channel (props to him), which i think was borrowed from an original idea by a top japanese player (not sure exactly who). I've put my own spreads on Charizard, Landorus-T and Aegislash, so experiment with your own spreads if you like.

The team is extremely offensive in nature, built around many cores/combos which balance each other very well, covering for the weaknesses of the other. In this way, the team is played in quite a reactionary style, allowing for each member to shine. These are some combos that i like to use:

Tailwind + Fake Out Support
This combo allows charizard to set up tailwind more reliably. Sun boosted heat waves under tailwind are deadly and punish switches. Weavile also acts as a powerful Dragon killer, improving charizard's matchup versus common dragon types like Hydreigon, Latios and Mega Salamence.

TerraVile (Beat Up + Justified)
This is a pretty infamous combo, predominantly for getting quick wins. A fast Beat Up from Weavile almost always ensures a +6 boost to terrakion's already very high attack stat. Terrakion has some of the best STAB type coverage in the game. Rock/Fighting hits so many common pokemon for super-effective damage, including Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard Y, Heatran, Mega Salamence, Thundurus, the list goes on...

Double Genies
If you've read any of my other RMT's, you'll know how much i like to use this combo. It's probably as standard a VGC combo as you can get, but there is a reason for that. The typical Mind+Brawl combo is very difficult to deal with, especially with fast rock slides and thunder wave RNG against you.

645-therian.gif

Charizard + Scarf Landorus-T
This is another pretty standard lead combo for charizard. A Fast Rock Slide/Earthquake and a powerful Heat Wave do a tonne of damage to any opponent, hitting around 465 pokemon for super-effective damage, and the majority of the remaining 335 are hit super-effectively by their coverage moves. Charizard really appreciates the support that is provided by intimidate, as it gets to survive moves that it wouldn't otherwise be able to, such as rock slides from non-banded adamant landorus-T and terrakion.

Charizard + Wide Guard Aegislash
This final combo works incredibly well in a metagame filled with pokemon like amoonguss, terrakion, landorus and mega metagross. Wide Guard spam protects charizard from rock slides and protects aegislash from heat wave/earthquake users, which increases the longevity of both pokemon.

In Depth

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 116 SpA / 20 SpD / 116 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Solar Beam
- Tailwind
- Protect

This charizard spread is pretty bulky, the investment in defence will guarantee that charizard survives a return from jolly kangaskhan as well as rock slides from mamoswine, garchomp and non life orb terrakion from full health. 20 EVs in SpD will guarantee that a draco meteor from specs hydreigon is a 2HKO, and gives charizard well rounded bulk overall. 116 Speed EVs will guarantee charizard outspeeds breloom before tailwind, and the rest of the EVs are distributed into SpA. Solar Beam gives charizard desperate coverage versus bulky water types. Hidden Power [ground] is a viable alternative that improves charizard's match up versus heatran, but since the team already has some of the best heatran counters in terrakion and landorus-t, it isn't really needed.

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Beat Up
- Icicle Crash
- Low Kick

This team's primary 'go-to' pokemon, Weavile provides invaluable fake out support which improves charizard's matchup versus offensive (scarf) politoed (most go for a rain dance before charizard can solar beam) and versus trick room, as well as many other team styles. Icicle Crash is Weavile's main STAB, and along with low kick handles the common Kangaskhan/Heatran/Landorus-T core. The EV spread is designed to be as fast and as powerful as possible, not much to say here.

639.gif

Terrakion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide
- Double Kick
- Protect

This terrakion is optimised for both general use and when under beat up + justified scenarios. A standard offensive spread is required for terrakion to get the most damage off possible with +6 attack. Double Kick has been chosen here over other moves to deal with sash bisharp and smeargle, which otherwise can hurt terrakion if they survive. Earthquake, quick guard and quick attack are all possible choices for this slot, its up to personal preferance. Lum berry improves the matchup versus thundurus and makes terrakion the best counter to the now rare KangArtist combo (its probably the reason why it's so rare now).

645-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 12 HP / 220 Atk / 92 Def / 4 SpD / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- U-turn

You may have seen this spread before from my previous RMTs. This spread is taken from amr97, however, amr97's original spread failed to out speed 252 Speed Timid mega gengar, so EVs were taken from attack to acheive this. a fast U-turn+Intimidate makes scarf landorus-t a fantastic bulky pivot, earthquake+rock slide offers excellent coverage as well as producing vital flinches from rock slide. To sum up the EV spread, the defensive investment allows landorus to survive a +1 sucker punch from life orb bisharp, and the rest of the EVs optimise its remaining offensive capability.

642.gif

Thundurus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 4 SpA / 132 SpD / 32 Spe
Calm Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Pretty standard bulky thundurus, the team's secondary 'go-to' pokemon. The defensive investment ensures double-edge from jolly kangaskhan is a 2HKO, and that sylveon's hyper voice has 74.6% chance to 3HKO after sitrus berry, with an okay chance to survive a draco meteor from modest specs hydreigon. The spread also outpaces breloom by one point, and the 4 left goes into SpA. The fourth slot is really up to you, swagger and protect are both very viable alternatives.

681.gif

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 100 SpA / 156 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Wide Guard

Quiet nature Aegislash on a tailwind team looks a little out of place. However, it offers a fantastic way to deal with trick room, and supports the whole of the rest of the team well with wide guard. The special bulk guarantees a 2HKO from modest specs Hydreigon's Dark Pulse, and the rest goes into SpA, pretty standard. If you want to change this, go ahead. Leftovers, life orb and safety goggles are viable alternative items here, as this sun team lacks venusaur who is immune to spore/rage powder, so safety goggles compensates for that loss.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 116 SpA / 20 SpD / 116 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Solar Beam
- Tailwind
- Protect

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Beat Up
- Icicle Crash
- Low Kick

Terrakion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide
- Double Kick
- Protect

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 12 HP / 220 Atk / 92 Def / 4 SpD / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- U-turn

Thundurus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 4 SpA / 132 SpD / 32 Spe
Calm Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 180 SpA / 76 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Wide Guard

Hope you like the team :)

Hey there Draconid, that's a pretty great team you have! Honestly the only thing I suggest changing is switching Aegislash out with Ferrothorn. Your team is REALLY weak to Rain and Rotom-W, and Aegislash doesn't really help improve that matchup. Ferrothorn, on the otherhand, can single handedly beat Rain, while also helping against Trick Room and Rotom. You do lose out on Wide Guard support, but Ferrothorn beats pretty much any relevant Rock Slide user in the tier, outside of Terrakion. Also the Pokemon you mentioned that Aegislash helped with in the combos hide tag, Ferrothorn does well against also. Both Landorus and Mega Metagross outright lose 1v1, and Terrakion only has a 12.5% chance to OHKO.

That's pretty much it man haha. Once again, really great team so there wasn't much I would recommend changing. Hope I helped man and good luck with the team!!! :]

Ferrothorn @ Lum Berry / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Atk / 52 Def (I moved the 52 into Def to let it tank hits like CC from Terrakion.)
Brave Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Protect

I'll definitely give ferrothorn a go, seems like a really good alternative to aegislash. I'll probably go with lum berry since 204+ Atk OHKO's standard 252 HP / 44 Def Rotom-wash and I can therefore avoid a will-o-wisp. And yeah I don't have much else to deal with rotom-wash as you said, and even most bulky spreads run Calm 252 HP / 148 SpDef to survive any charizard's solarbeam. Seems like the perfect fit, thanks for the suggestion :)

this may sound weird but have you considered shiftry instead of weavile?
he learns fake out and beat up, and because of cholophyll he can act as a sun sweeper or use his grass attacks to provide backup if the enemy has a rain team
he can also learn defog, knockoff and sucker punch.

however if you want to use ferrothorn dont use shiftry.

The same would go for whimsicott, who gets prankster tailwind as well, but shiftry will not work if i lead with the terravile combo as it underspeeds terrakion by quite a lot without sun. Its for sure an interesting option but not one that i will take forward sorry
