Terrible OU Tank/Stallish Team that needs a LOT of work (Includes Porygon2+Gastrodon)

Meh, I'm mainly an Uber player, but I decided to give OU a try again. I wanted to try out a Jirachi set since it learned Trick, U-Turn, and Stealth Rock, and still had good resistances and defenses as well as a movepool that could work with the set. After that, realized that Porygon2 countered Heatran and Gyarados rather well, and all I needed to really support him was a fighting resistance. From there I decided to come up with a Tankish build to a team and this is the result.

Team at a glance:

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/146 Def/112 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Wish
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock

A sort of Suicide Lead. Also comes in to take possible Tricks (God Damn Shoddy for not having its Trick glitch fixed). Speed EVs are just enough to outspeed a Taunt from Aerodactyl. If it tried to Taunt me, I U-turn to an appropriate counter for their switch. If they Stealth Rocked right away, I've disabled their Aerodactyl significantly, gotten a free Focus Sash, and have a free turn to set up Rocks of my own.

Wish was just tacked on there because I didn't really know what else to put on it. Suggestions are welcome.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/40 SAtk/96 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Recover
- Blizzard
- Discharge
- Toxic

Meh, ripped straight from the Archives. Counters Heatran, Gyarados, all-physical Salamence, and some other stuff. Toxic for those that can't be poisoned by Toxic Spikes, Discharge for those that can't be poisoned at all.
---

145.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Counters Scizor, Heracross, and Lucario, fighting resist to complement Porygon2. Hidden Power Grass chosen because i lacked a Swampert Counter to this team, and there's nothing that Zapdos hits a lot of the time with HP Ice that's useful that isn't already covered by Gastrodon, Porygon2, and Tentacruel's Blizzard anyway.

428.png

Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 212 HP/252 Def/44 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Recover
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Blizzard

Counters Tyranitar and backup counter to Infernape should Tentacruel fall. Picked over Swampert because of access to Recover.
---

73.png

Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Blizzard
- Surf

Obi's Tentacruel, 'nuff said. Counters Infernape, Rapid Spins to support Zapdos and Abomasnow, and hits stuff with Surf and Blizzard.
---

465.png

Abomasnow (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 Atk/129 Def/129 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch

Counters Raikou, Suicune, and Revenge Kills Salamence and Flygon, and Priority is always good. EVs alocated to make as much use of Leech Seed as possible (no HP EVs). Also allows the use of Blizzard on my team.

This team pretty much comes down to getting Rocks up, attempting to get Toxic Spikes down, and Tanking my way to victory.

I know from the beginning this team seems very flawed. For one thing, it lacks a Ghost to block Rapid Spins. Well, i did that because I figured that Rapid Spin was pretty rare to begin with, and with the various forms of Rotom now around, it's getting to the point where it'salmost pointless to try and Spin them away. I figured the Metagame would take care of this problem for me, which is why I didn't include a ghost, but obviously I've been wrong several times, and some people still DO try to Rapid Spin. I considered using Rotom as my Fighting Resistance/Immunity, but then i realized that Heracross then walked all over this team. So if you do suggest me to use Rotom, other changes in this team are going to be needed, so try to suggest suggestions for the change if you do.

Speaking of Rotom, Rest/Sleep Talk Rotom Walls this team to no end. Please help me!

Remember, you can give other constructive criticisms about this team, but please do your best to also try and list suggestions as to how I could fix problems with this team.

Hopefully Obi can take a look at this and give me some pointers.

Vaporeon would be a good choice, as it can wish pass, freeing up your jirachi to use a different move, maybe one of the screens. Of course, two wishers never hurts. Gastrodon doesn't seem to be needed on your team, so i would replace him with vappy. Yeah it might make it a little harder to take on TTar, but you should be able to manage.

Just some ideas, hope I helped and good luck.

Hello XtrEEmMaShEEn3k2

I will first start out with an explanation on how to kill Rest/Sleep Talk Rotom. As you said in your RMT, Rest/Sleep Talk Rotom Walls your team to no end and you also mentioned that a spin blocker could be helpful to your team. I agree with that statement because on a stall team such as this, a spin blocker is needed to prevent Pokemon like Starmie and Donpahn from blowing away your entry hazards. I will suggest two pokemon that can 1) Kill Rotom in particular Rest/Sleep Talk Rotom 2) Prevent your entry hazards from being blown off the field.

Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Focus Blast
- Explosion
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball

Gengar does a great job a killing Rotom and can also get an unsuspected kill on Blissey with Explosion(which your team has a hard time dealing with if Jirachi and Abomasnow are gone) If you do not like the recoil damage from Life Orb you can always put choice scarf on Gengar to ensure you outspeed scarfed Rotom and many other threats such as Heatran and Skymin. If you want something bulkier to deal with Rotom you can either put Tyranitar who scares Rotom. I will list the set for you :)

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

This Tyranitar does great at stopping Rotom and Blissey. As Rotom switches out you can pursuit it to death making your job a lot easier. Tyranitar can also Scare off Blissey and pursuit it as it switches. I suggest you replace Abomasnow with Tyranitar as it will help your team significatly.

Another suggestion I have is to either make Tyranitar your lead and replace Gastrodon with Swampert as it is much bulkier and can also provide Stealth Rock for your team. swampert can also be an excellent counter for Raikou. Also, change Porygon 2 nature to Bold. It will enable him too take more hits from the likes of Gyarados and OHKO back with Thunderbolt.

If you want something to counter Suicune, you can always try Vaporeon since its water absorb ability completly shuts Suicune down and it can always Toxic/Roar it. I will list a Vaporeon set that work wonderful from my experience.

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Evs: 236 HP/216 Def/58 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Ice beam/ Hidden Power Electric
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf

This also serves as a great Suicune and Heatran counter. However Porygon 2 does both of those jobs greatly. If you ever feel the need to replace him you can always test this. It provides Wish suport to heal your other team members. Tentacruel can also wall Suicune, howbvere, you need Sludge Bomb to have a chance of breaking its sub. If you decide to put swampert as mentioned above, you can put roar on it to phaze Suicune away. Also, celebi with perish Song does a pretty nice job when dealing with Suicune. Also, you can always rely on the #1 special wall in the game Blissey to help with your Suicune problem.

Instead of using Jirachi as a lead you can use Tyranitar as I mentioned above since it has the ability to 1) Kill annoying leads such as Azelf 2) Start sandstorm which will help with your stalling. Some options over wish on Jirachi would have to be 1) Ice Punch ( allows you to kill salamence 2) Fire Punch( Allows a kill on Scizor) 3) You can put Zen Headbutt or Iron Head as both provide STAB and a great flinch rate. If you do decide to keep Gastrodon, then keep SR on Jirachi and reaplce Wish with one of the following moves.

Well that is all for now. I will test this team out and let you know how it turned out. Sorry for the huge blob of text. I hope I helped you :)

Based on your suggestions, my team would look something like this:

Tyranitar
Vaporeon
Swampert
Zapdos
Tentacruel
???

It could possibly work. However, I'd need a new way to deal with Salamence and Skymin, since Abomasnow was my revenge killer before. Also, I don't think any Pokemon can both block spins and Counter Salamence, unless there's a levitating Ghost/Steel type out there somewhere that I've never heard about.

Also, I think Gastrodon works better under a Stallish team since it has access to Recover.
