Well, im not going to show the teambuilding process as this team has been every team in ou at one point. Previous members include:Tyranitar, gliscor, terrakion, starmie, cincinno, reuniclus, conkeldurr, scrafty, salamence, kyruem, dragonite, dusclops, deoxys-d, chansey, skarmory, blissey, hippodown, glaceon, frosslass, abomasnow, weezing, heatran, gengar, alakazam, tangrowth, mienshao, chandelure, and many many others.
So, i was playing ou and notices i won every match...exept those i fought against rain teams. Which i lost. Every. Time. So, i decided, if ya cant beat em, join em. I started with politoed, of course, and the set i used helps to cripple opposing leads and allow my other pokemon to set up. The next thing that came to mind was tornadus. I used the scarf varient as a revenge killer, because everyone needs a revenge killer. Now here's where it gets a bit different. I chose landorus as a counterpart physical wall. They actually have amazing synergy, and landorus can soak up electric atacks, and tornadus eats grass counters. Landorus can U-turn into tornadus if a Physical wall comes out, either grapbbing a KO or forcing a switch. Since people are more likely to switch out, i didnt want them to do so freely, so i threw in hazards in the form of my all time favorite pokemon: Ferrothorn. After this group was made, i relized cloyster and mammoswine would hurt a lot. I decided scizor, who can take the hits from both and 1-or-2HKO them, would be perfect. Finally, i couldent resist adding jirachi. Just because its awesome. Now, the team.
Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Protect
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Hypnosis
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOED! This is the essential pokemon for the team, because of the rain. Scald and Ice beam hurt a lot of pokemon, and it can survive most hits and hypnosis on threats.
Tornadus (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Hurricane
Tornadus is the anchor of this team. Most pokemon cant take more than one hurricane from this guy, and the other moves make it even harder to survive even one attack. Ferrothorn is a great partner because of spike support, allowing tornadus to ohko most things.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunder
- Psyshock
Jirachi...umm. Well, its a stand-alone pokemon, doing pretty well but not really working with the team. Typical set, but honestly, its the least effective of the 6.
Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Landorus pairs up with tornadus to create a perfect offensive core. With 2 very fast pokemon, covering both sides of the spectrum, no pokemon is safe. In addition, landorus is also very bulky. Most people expect a scarf or band landorus, so switch in immediatly anticipating a move, only to have their heatran ohkoed by a pokemon they thought was going to be locked in to HP ice.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
Ferrothorn provides a hazard support and forces switches with leech seed, also doing massive damage to a terrakion or tyranitar on the switch in with gyro ball. He serves as a wall of sorts as well, for when the offensive duo falters.
Scizor (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
Scizor takes advantage of hypnosis'd pokemon by setting up in there face, before OHKOing switch-ins like 'Zone with superpower. It can also 2hko cloyster after SS defense lowers, and can survive an icicle spear with ease.
Most people dont expect a roost set, so i can easily heal off damage. Also, other pokemon who try to cripple scizor with statuses are 2hkos while scizor lums his status. All-in-all, a stereotypical rain team with a landorus thrown in.
